This is coming to you from Shantytown, we are out at the Heritage Day. Funds are going to the Coronation Hall restoration and there’s people everywhere. It’s a beautiful day, hot and sunny even though the weather man gave us rain. But I guess, the day is not over yet. We have five vehicles on display – Tom’s Chev, Roger’s Model A, Dave’s Essex, Gary Hopkinsons Citroen & Brent Woolhouse’s Hudson. Quite a few interested people popping into the Clubrooms for a look. We are at the start of a new motoring year, so lets go.

BRANCH BITS AND PIECES We welcome a new member to the Club – David Cook from Dobson who owns a Morris Lolite and a BSA motorcycle. We look forward to seeing you out on our runs Dave.
The Christmas/New Year dinner was very nice, as luck would have it… another wet day. Unfortunately Colin and Elaine who did all the organising, had to rush to Christchurch to welcome a new granddaughter. Congratulations to you both, lovely to see a wee girl at last in the family for Elaine. Members met at the clubrooms at Shantytown, saw our TV and display in action and went to dinner via the Aorangi Reserve. We had a mystery Santa this year, who had trouble keeping his pants up. Must have lost weight since Christmas.
Several cars travelled up to Reefton to the A&P Show, quite a pleasant day and the sun actually came out. As always, there is a lot of interest in the cars, people love to tell of previous cars in their family. We did a grand parade prior to leaving the grounds, had a cuppa at the tearooms and headed home. BUT a certain Morris E decided to pack a sad and didn’t come home until Wednesday with the AA man. It’s the first time in 30 years of vintage motoring we haven’t got ourselves home.
It has been said that there is going to be a new mud plugger in the Branch. I believe there are two unknown (at this stage anyway) owners who are planning to fit into a Triumph Herald, we are in for some real entertainment this year. As at the end of January we still had several unfinancial members. If you are intending to renew your membership do so NOW or you will be cancelled and have to reapply for membership.
