And a note from Chairman Kevin… “As it is that time of year again and our AGM is fast approaching, it would be great if you can give some thought around nominating yourself or somebody else to be available for Committee. Many hands make light work and new people bring new ideas. It doesn’t take up too much time we meet once a month for a meeting, there is always others to assist you with any events we are involved in. It is important that we keep our club alive and would appreciate having some new members on board, please give it some thought. If you would like any information or have any questions please do not hesitate to give me a call. Thank you” Regards Kevin Tucker 03 7684847

GO BRIDGET The following is a report from Kevin & Lynda and photos from Nola & Allan Weir on their recent journey up north to the recent Model A Rally at Easter. Thank you both for your info.

13th National Model A Meet Napier 5 cars left Greymouth on the 11th April to make our way to Napier, on a mission to return the wooden spoon back to the North Island that one of our members had presented to them in Wanaka 2 years ago, We stayed at Picton the first night and had a smooth early morning sailing on the 12th, on arriving in Wellington we all headed out to Peter Jacksons Weta Workshop then all proceeded over the Rimutakas through to Masterton. Lunch stop was at the Tui Brewery and also done the brewery tour with the Tui Girls!!, then carried on to Napier battling the

elements of cyclone Debbie. Friday started the rally with clear skies, this day was orientation day which allowed us to get familiar with the area, meet and greet saw 148 entries. Saturday events had to be changed to plan B, we were unable to go to Cape Kidnappers due to the damage from the cyclone but alternative routes still provided an excellent day of local scenery. Saturday night was a dress down and depression dinner. Sunday was the “Show and Shine and Gymkhana, Sunday night was the formal dinner and the finals of the Hubley racing with Bridget Fowler taking out 2nd placing. Monday morning was the departure breakfast with over 300 people attending, a great turnout to say our Goodbyes. Overall a very enjoyable event and looking forward to Te Anau in 2019. From Napier we all headed to Taupo and visited the Prawn Farm for lunch and the Huka Falls, we drove up to the thermal pipeline before heading into Taupo, stayed in a nice place that had mineral pools overlooking Lake Taupo. Meet up with some Christchurch members for dinner at the Club. Next day carried onto Taumarunui calling into Kinloch for lunch lovely area, travelled to Omori on the edge of Lake Taupo, a guy that was in the rally approached us and invited us to his house for coffee, stayed at Taumarunui nice meal at the RSA. Next day we travelled through The Forgotten World Highway to New Plymouth, stopped for lunch at the Whangamomona Hotel, lots of history and old photos here, stopped at various points of interest along the way, a very enjoyable experience. Travelled through to Stratford and then onto New Plymouth. The next day after helping out some Canterbury members with some spare parts we headed for Whanganui via the Coastal Highway, after stopping for a brief comfort stop a man approached us and invited us to his bloke shed to view his massive collection of veteran and vintage, classic cars and motorbikes, he also had a large display of memorabilia on departure he gave us instructions to visit another place further down the road, the boys were in their element!! We then travelled onto Whanganui. We enjoyed a meal at an Irish Bar and a few glasses of Guinness!! Friday morning headed off to Wellington to catch the ferry for a 12.30pm sailing. We all stayed the night in Picton before heading back to the Coast. Approx 2000 miles travelled, with no breakdowns from any of the West Coast cars and plenty of fun had by all, great memories of a great trip. Looking forward to Te Anau Kevin and Lynda Tucker
