About Vintage Trailer Magazine Vintage Trailer Magazine is the world’s ﬁrst magazine solely dedicated to vintage, classic, retro-styled and custom trailers and those who love them.

intage Trailerites come from all walks of life and are drawn to vintage trailers for a variety of reasons. Some have nostalgic memories of childhood seaside holidays spent in trailer parks, some choose a retro camper because it looks good behind their prized classic car on its way to a car show campout. Along with a sense of classic style, lovers of retro trailers take delight in life’s many wonders – they enjoy adventure, travelling to new destinations, appreciating nature’s beauty and living a life less stressful. Vintage trailerites often also share a passion for classic cars or hot rods and will happily devote countless hours looking after their “toys”. They also have a very keen sense of aesthetic style and an eye for making small spaces look absolutely adorable. So, Vintage Trailer Magazine is about all of these things; an eclectic collection of stories, pictures, input and ideas from sources who all share so much more than a passion for camping. To the vintage trailerites out there living the dream, taking their rescued older trailers back out on the road, this magazine is for you! I’m especially excited about this year because I’m going to be going camping with my sister in her long-awaited newly restored vintage trailer. We’re both in our forties now, but despite having enjoyed many camping trips together as kids, this will be the ﬁrst time we’ve actually gone vintage trailer camping together! Fun! Fun! I’m booked in to ten events and rallies so far and no doubt others will come up to ﬁll in any gaps in my calendar. I’m so looking forward to being back out on the road and meeting up with as many of you as possible. It’s going to be a busy year! Rick the vintage trailer restorer magician has been hard at work on my 1949 10-

foot Crown trailer Rosie (made by Al Rose, the Trailer King in El Monte, California according to her ID plate) and I have to keep holding back from wanting to pester him every day for updates and photos on her progress. I’m like that annoying kid in the back seat: “Are we there yet?” I already have all the decorative touches I want to put inside her all ready to go, to make her cozy, homely and to feel like my special space. I expect many a future issue of Vintage Trailer Magazine to be created from within her walls, so she has to be a place of inspiration, creativity and happiness! Neglected and unloved...

have always admired the old retro/vintage caravans but never thought of owning one until my friend Barbra and I were both looking for somewhere to do our crafts. We were both looking at putting girl sheds onto our properties. Barbra found a shed and had it moved to her house and now has a wonderful space in which to do her craft work. I still wasn’t sure whether a shed was the way to go for me. I asked a few friends to keep an eye out for a bubble shape caravan. A few months later another friend Tomsqui came with a photo on his phone and said: “I have found you a caravan”. Well, I was so excited. Tom gave me the address and I went and had a look the next day. Chrissie, the lady whose property it was on, was only too pleased to let me have a look and told me that it belonged to her son who didn’t want it and that it had been sitting there for about seventeen years. Chrissie wanted it gone. Chrissie rang her son who said that I could have it as soon as he had removed all his tools. I rang Parks in Christchurch and asked them a price for bringing it home. When the lovely man from Parks was winching it oﬀ the trailer at my place, a car drove by and did a U-turn, and an old man got out and admired my new acquisition. “Herb” told me that he lived just around the corner and that he lived in a caravan and had a few in his yard. He was really interested and asked if he could call in and watch the progress. Herb turned up the next day with books on old caravans and old newspaper cuttings etc for me to read. There the obsession began. Herb has since become a good friend and we often have coﬀee together. Once home I realised that the whole inside was rotten and soon realised that it would never be road worthy, but not to be deterred I set to making this tiny caravan into my craft room. My partner Tony thought that I had completely lost the plot, but I had a vision of what she was going to look like. I had to start 6

somewhere, and ripping the inside out was ﬁrst as there had been a few mice living there and a wasps nest still buzzing away. I went to ﬁnd some parts and came across a lovely lady in Blenheim road in Christchurch. She was very nice and we sat and chatted for a long time. she said that she had had a few old caravans in the past and had sold them all and now regrets it. They are so hard to get now. She asked: “Have you got the Vintage Caravan Magazine?” she gave me three copies that she had on the bookshelf. Well when I got home I was addicted to VCM and sat in bed and read all three, needless to

say next day I subscribed. I bought back issues too and me and Herb are both avid followers of VCM. Soon it became apparent that the whole thing was rotten and one wrong pull at a rotten piece of wood and the whole back collapsed. I tried to straighten it up but it was not having a bar of it. My partner, I have to say instead of his usual “I told you so attitude” could see that I was realising that I had taken on too much this time, and was feeling pretty upset. He said: “Oh well, you gave it a good try. What do you think you should do now?” “Well”, I said, “I think matches and kerosene. What do you think?”

My Friend Darriel said: “Sandra if anyone can do it you can”, and bought me the book on caravans. The next day I went out into the back yard and without another thought just got stuck in. I thought as I was working on her that I know she is never going to be road worthy and will have to remain in the back yard, but she is still a thing of beauty and I loved her. Even if all failed I’d still have met two lovely people: Chrissie and Herb. I still keep in contact with Chrissie and Herb, and I have coﬀee and chat about our vans frequently. I managed to get her straight enough and managed to get vintagetrailermagazine

a caravan door from trade me, and made Perspex windows. Two months later and I was so looking forward to my two weeks annual leave from work so that I could ﬁnish my amazing craft space. So, after Christmas in 2016 and over the new year’s holiday 2017 there I was, not partying and bringing in the new year, but having early nights so that I could get up early to get stuck into making my dream caravan craft space. My partner bought me a caravan photo album for Christmas and I am so pleased that I took photos right the way though, and have also completed my album. Well now all my neighbours and friends all have said: “Please try to get her into that Magazine that you keep showing everyone. She is so worthy of a write up” and yes I think so too. Many people have been round just to see her, even friends of my partner come around just to have a peep. How nice to think that this little caravan has already bought so much delight to so many people, and that some nice friendships have come from having her. vintagetrailermagazine

A Washington State-based glamping diva has turned her creativity and passion for a trailer named Penelope into a whole new business venture.

ev grew up on a Thoroughbred horse farm in Enumclaw, Washington and loves the rural lifestyle so much that she still lives in the same town with her husband Steve and daughter Samantha. Together they run a small one-acre farm and tend to a horse, two goats, eleven chickens, two Chihuahuas and a cat. For several years Bev ran a horse rug wash and repair service, but a fire seven years ago, put an end to that business and Bev was on the look out for a new venture. About six years ago, Bev was reading an article in Country Living Magazine about a group of women who had restored some old trailers. “They were having a blast glamping them up and hitting the road and I knew I just knew I had to have one”, recalls Bev. After having dragged her husband all around the state looking at trailers for sale for the past few months, Bev ended up finding the one she wanted just fifteen minutes away from their house. It was an 18-foot 1961

Kenskill and she was lucky enough to pick it up for only $500. That is was in June 2010 just a few days after Bev’s forty-eighth Birthday and the trailer was promptly named “Penelope”. “I was so excited about having my own personal space and a place to have all of my favorite things”, explains Bev. The old trailer had significant water damage inside where the fridge had been, so Bev’s brother got stuck in and reconstructed the damaged walls. The old floor was covered with new plywood sheeting and then peel and stick black and white floor tiles were attached to that, although Bev tells me that the flooring has not held up so well and will soon be replaced by a sturdier pine floor. While the floor was being done, Bev took on the task of cleaning and polishing all of the removed windows, before re-installing them using new Butyl tape and screws. On the outside of the trailer things were getting very messy. When they bought it, the Kenskill was covered in several coats of thick white house paint that Bev had to completely strip back and sand off. Whilst doing this, she also removed all of the J-rails, polished them and replaced all of the old screws with new ones. Bev chose to leave the top half of the trailer in the polished aluminum and painted the bottom half in pink. After cleaning, sanding and preparing all of the interior walls, Bev chose a pale yellow paint for the inside.

“I love anything vintage, especially chenille and lace and I love pink and yellow and sparkle and Merle Haggard, so those are the things I have decorated with”, says Bev. Bev’s ﬁrst outing with Penelope was to a nearby State Park. “I am blessed to live in the foothills of Mt Rainier and only eight miles from Kanasket – Palmer State Park, so that was where I went for my maiden voyage”, Bev tells me. “I grew up towing horse trailers so I felt pretty good about it and I am also married to a truck driver who always makes sure that I am good to go. I recently bought a 3/4-ton diesel that I use when I am towing instead of my 1990 Ford F150 so that has made a huge diﬀerence for me. I also have a 1972 Cadillac Coupe Deville named ‘Large Marge’ that I hope to tow with some day too”. Having done a bit more work on the trailer over the years, Bev tells me that she has since replaced the porta-potty with a proper toilet a couple of years ago. She also added new faucets and a water heater, so now the shower works too. She also added in a “fantastic fan” to replace the vent and installed three chandeliers! Enjoying her new “glamping” hobby, Bev starting making vintage trailer pendants out of vintage silver-plate spoons and other decorative pieces. “I made a few “Glamper” pendant for a few trailer friends for Christmas a couple years ago and posted a picture of them on Facebook and all of a sudden I started getting messages from people wanting to order them!” And just like that, her new business: “Tin Can Diva” was formed. Bev now creates a dazzling array of beautiful custom made pieces that she sells from her own website store and out of her trailer at rallies.

When she’s not out camping or making jewelry, Bev tells me that she enjoys the sense of peace and tranquility that just being in her trailer gives her. “I love that it makes me so happy to just to sit in her and relax” says Bev. “She is most deﬁnitely my happy place”. VTM

A trip to the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta in 2011 proved pivotal in Arlington, Texas resident Julie Delioâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s desire to get into vintage trailer camping. 18

aving been introduced to the joys of camping as an affordable way to travel back when her children were younger, Julie continued to enjoy camping with the kids even after becoming a single parent. Having bought a small tent so that she could ‘tag along” with some photographer friend of hers on camping trips revived her interest in camping but Julie soon discovered that she was getting too old to find the same kind of joy in sleeping on the ground and trying to get her jeans on whilst lying down. In 2011, while on their way to the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, Julie and her husband came across a caravan of women at Cline’s Corner in New Mexico, Julie recalls falling “head over heels in love with their little character-filled vintage trailers”. She learned later that the group were members of the women’s outdoor adventure group ‘Sisters on the Fly’. Within a month of beginning the search, Julie bought her 13-foot 1969 Okanagan from Palm Springs, California for a price that she says now is “more than I would have if I had known better”. The trailer had originally been made in Penticton, British Columbia and seems to be quite rare as Julie says she has only found evidence of two others like hers still around. Their first experience of towing the trailer was when they brought it back to Texas from Palm Springs. vintagetrailermagazine

My goal has always been to make her usable and cute, rather than taking her back to her original glory. “Neither my husband nor I had ever towed anything in our lives and so we had to learn quickly on the 1,300+ mile journey. The only near mishap was almost running out of gas in far west Texas. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed the smiles on fellow travelers’ faces as we passed them. Looking back on that trip, we both agree that we not only had an angel on our shoulder, but an entire ﬂock with us” recalls Julie. 20

As far as updates and restoration on the trailer went, Julie says that what they have done to the trailer is more “rehabilitation rather than restoration”. “My goal has always been to make her usable and cute, rather than taking her back to her original glory. We started at the top (replacing a badly cracked and repaired vent) and worked our way down”. Items that have been attended to include: replacing two windows, removing two

layers of linoleum, adding a new subﬂoor and installing new linoleum, and then removing that linoleum and replacing it for a new look. They took out two small bench seats in the front (the bistro sized table was missing) and replaced them with a bench that goes from side to side this doubling precious storage space. The broken heater that Julie decided was not necessary in Texas was also removed to make more room for storage.

The old fridge also didn’t work and was removed and an air conditioner was installed and all new gas lines were put in. The badly scratched old two-burner stove was re-powder coated and a new table was built to extend between the benches in the back where previously there had only been a board between the two benches allowing only for a bed and no dinette. Some panels of rot and damaged framework had to be repaired and replaced and as they were ﬁxed new insulation was added in along with a rock guard on the front window. Other ﬁnishing details were the installation of a custom built wooden screen door, a drop down shelf on

either end of the kitchen counter and a decorative back splash in the kitchen. Scruffy was finally fitted with new wheels, tires and a jack and then it was time to decorate! Julie tells me that she sewed the covers for the six bench seats herself. She has also sewed curtains for the trailer twice and has actually painted the interior of Scruffy three times! “The first time I painted the interior, I used paint I had left over from painting our guest room. The second time I painted the cabinets, I used the same paint as I had used for her exterior accent stripe. The third time I painted the cabinets, I

went with a calmer color taken from the second set of curtains, and I still have a list of improvements I’d like to get done!” Scruffy the caravan is looking very cute these days and Julie says she gets so much pleasure from taking her away on camping trips with friends or even on her own, often in the many wonderful Texas State Parks. With her colorful exterior with its cheery decorative floral stripe, Scruffy certainly turns heads at the camping grounds. “I love the freedom she gives me to get away for a short trip and explore. Wherever I take her, she brings joy. In campgrounds, parked between giant RVs, she is the one people come and ask to look inside”. VTM vintagetrailermagazine

hirty-nine year old Laura Brewer hails from the lush Appalachian mountain district of Lenoir in North Carolina. An avid and regular camper from way back, Laura admits that up until four years ago, she had no idea about the whole vintage trailer trend.

Whilst studying towards her MBA at Appalachian State University, Laura was originally just looking for something more convenient than a tent for camping trips with her husband Matt and his two daughters Mattie and Brae. “I had not heard of taking these vintage campers and ﬁxing them up. I had no idea what ‘glamping’ was. All I knew

was that I wanted to ﬁnd a camper that I could aﬀord. I had put on Facebook that I wanted a camper and a friend named Cathy sent me a message and told me she knew where one was that was really cheap. She sent me the photo of this camper in the middle of the weeds with the door slung wide open. I saw it and I immediately stated that I wanted it. vintagetrailermagazine

I loved how it was not box-like and the neat wheel cutouts were just adorable to me. I will also say that vintage is my style anyway! I have so many antiques in my home so it only made sense that I would love a vintage camper too. I am deﬁnitely an ‘old soul’.” Laura readily admits that she had no idea what she was doing. “I had no knowledge about campers of any kind, as I had always tent camped! But I had a vision of how this little camper could be cool and I was determined to make it happen”, she tells us. The 1968 Serro Scotty had belonged to her friend Cathy’s sister Sandy Lee whose husband Wayne had bought it with the intention of ﬁxing it up for his wife, but he had sadly passed away unexpectedly. Sandy gave Laura the trailer because she knew that she would not scrap it and would turn it into something beautiful. When Laura posted on Facebook that she had obtained the camper, another friend asked if it had been Sandy’s camper. It turns out that he had been the one who 28

had hauled it from Virginia with Wayne seven years ago and he asked Laura if she knew the story behind it. He told her that two brothers had been using the camper for cock fighting which explained why there were three chicken coops in the front and two makeshift beds in the back. Everything else in the camper had been gutted. “They only used the camper to transport their chickens!” Laura laughs. “Yes, the little camper was used for cock-fighting! For title purposes, Sandy and I came up with a bill of sale, so technically, I gave her $1 for the camper. It was the best dollar I ever spent! I wasn’t specifically looking for vintage. It just happened but now I am obsessed! If I find another one, I will bring it home too!” The trailer had been sitting in a field for seven years and was badly in need of a make over and as Laura was still in school, she enlisted the help of her uncle Marvin Holden, a former wood worker, to tackle the frame up restoration project who had eagerly offered to help. They agreed

that Laura would buy all the required materials and paid him for his labor and he enthusiastically set to work. “He had the frame up in a week after taking it down to the frame, and about two weeks after that, he had the cabinets in! I told him one time to slow down that I couldn’t pay him fast enough!” chuckles Laura. “He was retired and had the time to put into the camper to do it correctly. He absolutely did a beautiful job, following

how I wanted the layout. I needed storage because of my stepdaughters and I didn’t want a stove or fridge in the camper, because we do a lot of primitive camping”. Laura speciﬁcally requested that Marvin put up lights that were battery operated so that they would have light without power. Although they do have a generator, Laura says they rarely use it, and the

sink is only used at times when they have water hook-ups, which is rare as they prefer wilderness camping to trailer parks. Choosing an appropriate name for her camper was a no-brainer for Laura. The whole family loves to play music, so Laura decided to name the Scotty “Patsy Lee” after singer Patsy Cline and her own grandmother and Sandy’s second names. The interior color scheme came easily too “I knew what colors I wanted to use before the camper was ever finished”, tells Laura. “I just loved the contrast between the turquoise, white and red. I will say that the kids picked the outside color because I went back and forth between the red and the turquoise. I have another stepdaughter (now 19) who also gave some input. She is in college at NC State now so she doesn’t go camping with us much but she loves Patsy too!” With the trailer restoration all done and her degree finally complete, Laura was keen to bring her home and show her off

at her graduation party the next day. “When we went to Sandy’s house to pick up the camper, it was raining and we were out there trying to jack it up to change the tires to haul it. The hitch didn’t exactly catch so I followed my husband down the road, praying that it stayed on. Luckily, we only had to drive around twenty minutes from our house. Everyone told me I was crazy for dragging her home, including my husband”, recalls Laura, “but nothing could have wiped the smile from my face when I brought her home, nothing! Everything went perfect and we arrived safely”. Laura’s ﬁrst away from home appearance with Patsy Lee was to a small Scotty convention that was held thirty minutes away from their house at Flintlock Campground in Boone, North Carolina on Memorial Day, 2015. Laura recalls the joy of being able to share her passion with other Scotty owners and proudly show oﬀ her Patsy Lee. She went back last year as well and this year she is actually going to be hosting the event. She has also taken vintagetrailermagazine

Patsy to a couple of car shows and the Relay for Life for cancer survivors. Having been diagnosed with breast cancer in August 2015, Laura is still in the process of battling the disease, so this year she is planning on utilizing the vintage trailer’s people-pulling power to try to raise more money for cancer research. Along with the numerous stares, honks and thumbs up they get while out on the road, Laura says that the best thing about having the trailer has been the opportunity to go camping as a family every single weekend over the summer. “My step daughters are here during the summer, all summer and we go every weekend. Those are memories that they

will never forget and I want them to have an awesome childhood. They have a ball and so do we! NO TV, limited phones and when it rains, we play cards. The biggest thing that we do is play music! Everyone at the campgrounds we frequent knows us because of two things: the vintage camper and our music! We play everything from Patsy Cline, of course, to Led Zeppelin! My stepdaughters also play music too. I cannot even begin to explain how much fun we have, and it is family fun, spending time together. There is nothing that can build the memories with my stepdaughters and my husband, nothing like this little camper has! We learn to work together. We learn to play music together. We are a family together.

It is our happy place, for all of us!” Laura smiles as she recalls how often curiosity about their cute little Scotty has broken the ice when it comes to initiating campground conversations and the friendships that have been formed as a result. “The funniest reaction that I got was that one day we got to the campground, and of course, we were right beside the biggest RV in the whole place. The lady came out and asked me if Patsy had slideouts! I just giggled and I told her it was a ‘68 model! We both just laughed! Our

family and her family have since camped together for two years now. Her husband also plays music and they have also came to the house several times Despite his initial dubiousness when she ﬁrst brought the little Scotty home, Laura assures us that her husband Matt has now been well and truly bitten by the vintage trailer bug. “He loves Patsy and now points out vintage campers everywhere we go!” she says, but he knows better than to tell her what to do when it comes to backing up the trailer. “I can totally park it on my own, as long as my husband is not helping me!” she laughs. “If he tries to help, we just start yelling! I have a big yard and I am sure my neighbors think I am crazy because I have been practicing backing the camper up. I have had to pull completely around the yard because I got ‘hemmed up’ somehow. onnie is a semi-retired Registered Nurse and lives in Mitchellville, Iowa who became interested in vintage trailers when she came across an all women’s vintage trailer group. Her husband and her already had a ﬁfth-wheel but hubby didn’t exactly warm to the idea of her giving it a girly makeover, so she bought another smaller trailer to take camping with her women friends. Connie has since done up a few trailers in various themes including one that is a tribute to her “Hippy years”.

I first met Connie at the start of the Sisters on the Fly Route 66 Tour in 2015. It was only our first day on the Mother Road, but I had already driven from Oregon to Illinois in the old Hudson Hornet. Somewhere between Pontiac and Springfield, Illinois, the Hudson’s automatic transmission seized up and I found myself stuck in first gear. I pulled over outside some scary old Norman Bates looking Motel on a very deserted stretch of Route 66 to check under the hood to see what I was dealing with, feeling very anxious indeed. Luckily 36

I told him that I would give him half of the trailer for boys hunting trips if he would help me fix and maintain it and he agreed! for me, a couple of other sisters who were caravanning together stopped to see if I was OK. Believe it or not, they were both called Connie. I followed them very slowly into Springﬁeld Fairgrounds as the rest of the group moved on to another campground

and the three of us set up camp there for the night and enjoyed a few drinks and a laugh inside Connie’s trailer. With one side all pink and girly and the other side brown, I just had to ask why. “This is my half, and that is his half”, Connie told me.

“My husband did not really have much interest in my vintage camper at first. He came outside one day and saw that I was painting it pink. I was going to put poodles, pearls and girl stuff images all over it (I had 3 poodles at the time). He said: ‘That is really cute’. I told him that I would give him half of the trailer for boys hunting trips if he would help me fix and maintain it and he agreed! So I painted half pink and the other half brown. His side had bears, raccoons, possums and squirrels on it. My side was all girl. We split it down the middle. It kind of looks like a Neapolitan from a distance! I painted one LP tank brown and the other pink and then I changed the trailer’s name to ‘Lady and the Tramp’”. The Andersons had found the 20-foot 1970 Holiday Rambler on Craigslist for the bargain price $800.

“Price was a big factor for us because we were beginners and didn’t know. We already had a really nice new fifth-wheel camper. It was deluxe with a washing machine and a dishwasher in it, but I wanted one that I could paint the outside and make-over one to fit my themes”, Connie tells me. “We purchased it way before it became popular, so it was easy to find on the Internet. They are very coveted now as people are starting to see the value in an older well-built camping trailer”. Having enjoyed many camping and road trips since, Connie still recalls the terror she felt the first time she ever set out with the trailer on her own. “I had never driven a camper by myself. I felt so alone and scared. I was terrified 38

as soon as I pulled out of the driveway!” laughs Connie. “I think I went around the block about ten times before leaving town, just in case, before I was brave enough to head out to the event. My knuckles were turning white from the strong grip I had on the steering wheel! But after about a hundred miles I started to relax and turned on the radio. By two hundred miles down the road I opened the potato chip bag. That was all it took!” Connie’s advice for women wondering what kind of vehicle to use for towing trailers is to go for nothing less than a three-quarter ton pickup. “The bigger the engine, the better”, she says. “You have less troubles and much better gas mileage and I recommend a pickup with extra transmission cooler too”. Ginger Slice

his yummy slice has been a favorite of mine since I was little. Ginger Slice is perfect to whip out when guests pop in for a visit to check out your very awesome vintage trailer interior. These tasty little treats are certain to be a sure-fire hot around a camp fire or to stash away as a sneaky sweet treat just for you if you’re camping solo. They can be easily pre-made, stored in a tightly sealed plastic container and taken with you on the road and served up as required. Would go great with a cup of tea, or coffee, or a shot of Fireball!

Ingredients

Base: • 4 ½ Ounces Butter • ½ Cup Sugar • 1 ½ Cups Plain Flour • 1 Teaspoon Baking Powder • 2 Teaspoons Ground Ginger • 2 Tablespoons Water Topping: • 3 Ounces Butter • ¾ Cup Brown Sugar • 2 Tablespoons Maple Syrup • 1 Teaspoons Ground Ginger

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F. Base: Using a food mixer cream the butter and the sugar until light and fluffy (about 34 minutes) Sift in the flour, baking powder and ginger for the base into the butter mixture with the water until it forms a dough. Press this dough into a 8 x 12 inch slice baking tray lined with baking paper. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden. Topping: To make the icing for on top place the butter, brown sugar, maple syrup and ground ginger in a saucepan on a medium heat. Stir until the butter has melted and the mixture is well combined. Pour over the base and leave to cool in the tin. Cut into slices when cooled. Can be kept in the fridge.

From the food and coﬀee cart scene in Portland, to several very active vintage trailer camping groups and top-notch restorers, there is a lot of activity in the Paciﬁc North West. Add to that some of the most spectacular scenery you will ever see that begins as soon as you cross the state lines: Fairytale forests for miles and miles, rivers, waterfalls, lakes, mountains, valleys and lots and lots of trees all add up to making it the ideal location for road-tripping, exploring and camping. The initial idea for The Vintages was born when the team realized the Yamhill region of the Willamette Valley was lacking on lodging options, especially those that are unique and memorable.

What was the inspiration behind the Vintages and what steps did you have to take to bring the vision to life? After some extensive research on trailer restoration, it was clear that we needed to team up with trailer experts, speciﬁcally Flyte Camp out of Bend, Oregon. Our idea immediately clicked with them and – thirty-one trailers later - we couldn’t be more pleased to have them on our team. Their hit show Flippin’ RVs has featured many of our trailers and helped to spread the word about what we’re doing. How did the choice of location come about? JULY 5 – 9 GRAFFITI WEEKEND RAT ROD ROUNDUP & VINTAGE TRAILER SHOW Douglas County fairgrounds, 2110 Frear St, Roseburg, Oregon 97471 Graffiti Weekend is the premier car show event in the Pacific Northwest located in Roseburg, Oregon. There are car shows happening all over town and cruises, no preregistration necessary, just show up! This year the organizers of the Rat Rod & Rat Bike show hosted by the Pacific Racing Assn. have invited vintage trailers to display as part of their show on the 8th July. SEPTEMBER 7 – 10 2017 17TH ANNUAL MT BAKER VINTAGE TRAILER RALLY The Northwest Washington Fair and Event Center, 1775 Front St. Lynden, WA 98264 Annual Vintage Trailer Rally held every year the weekend after Labor Day at the NW Washington Fairgrounds in Lynden, WA. The oﬃcial rally is Sept 7-10, 2017 but you can arrive as early as the 5th. This is ﬁeld camping with no assigned spots. You pay and register upon arrival (cash, check or credit card). Showers, restrooms and RV dump station are on site. Power and water is abundant and available for most everyone with extension cords and water splitters.

Cost is $25 per night and one time rally fee of $15. (Add 3% for credit card payments). All are welcome to attend. Those trailers that aren’t vintage or “in the spirit of vintage” will just be asked to park in a designated section along the perimeter.

SEPTEMBER 15 – 17 SOUTH BEACH ROLLING OLDIES VINTAGE TRAILER RALLY South Beach State Park, 5580 South Coast Highway, South Beach, OR 97366 South Beach ROVT Rally is BACK!! The rally is in South Beach State Park in Newport, OR. The rally will be held in Loop A, B and C which have electric and water. We are looking at getting the meeting room for having the potlucks with of course open house and “Night Glow”. We will be posting how to reserve a campsite closer to time that you can reserve them. OCTOBER 12 – 15 GATHERING OF THE TIMES VINTAGE TRAILER RALLY 2017 Pine Mountain RV Resort, 8804 Hamilton Rd, Pine Mountain, GA 31822 Gathering of the Times is the new North Georgia Vintage Trailer Rally. We just changed the name. Please join us at the Pine Mountain RV Resort in Pine Mountain Georgia for our 5th annual Gathering Of The Times Vintage Trailer Rally. Perfectly situated next to Calloway Gardens it will certainly be a rally to remember. Only trailers 1979 and earlier can participate. Call (706) 663-4329 to reserve a campsite. Tell them you are with the vintage trailer group and are in the Azalea (new) section.
