Great Harbour TT 35
“The TT35 Rewrites the Book on the Great Loop”
KEN'S VISION With nearly fifty years in the boat business I have seen a bunch of changes and learned a heck of a lot about people and boats. I learned about the things that work and the things that don’t, both with people and boats. I have built just about every kind of boat there is under sixty-five feet. From kayaks and canoes to ocean-crossing trawlers, high-performance sailboats and sportfishing boats. And every one of them taught me something. Most of the boats I built were inspired by my desire to own what I was working on for my own use. Each genre came at a time in my life when the capabilities of the boat directly coincided with my desire for the activity that boat did best. These days my desire is to escape with Becky, my wife of over forty years, leave the kids, Travis and Jessica, behind to mind the business and build their own lives and see places Becky and I never had the chance to see before. In some cases to slow down and spend time in places that looked interesting in the past as we motored through on a hurried boat delivery to the next boat show or delivery to a new owner. The TT35 was going to be maybe that “last hurrah”; A boat I could build for me and kind of call it a day for my professional career. It was the boat that came from a dozen napkin sketches and page after page of weight calculations. It had to meet a bunch of seemingly conflicting characteristics. It became a boat that could not have been built years back because the technology simply did not exist. Development in several areas of composite technology and systems became kind of the perfect storm for a whole new kind of boat. A boat that could be rapidly and inexpensively transported over long distances by a standard pickup truck or rolled onto a freighter and shipped across the ocean to do the European canals and rivers far cheaper then it could make the trip on its own bottom. A boat that could make the trip from Miami to Seattle in a few days behind my pickup truck and I could sleep in it at night along the way with all the comforts of home. All of a sudden that trip to Alaska on the Inside Passage looked to be a reality, not to mention a side trip to the Sea of Cortez on the way back home. I felt that I could cruise Alaska, Cuba and the Bahamas all in the same summer! Then something happened. I should have taken the project to my own personal “skunk works” at our ranch and not said anything to anybody - just built the boat and snuck away. But too many people found out about this unique project and yet again the pressure built to put this new boat into production. I told myself that I probably could muster one more good run. I told the kids that I would need at least a few months off a year to go play with our new boat and they have agreed to let me have a couple months in winter (and maybe a couple in summer.) So there you have it! My name is on hull number something or other, TT35 production is well underway, and we are shooting at fifty boats a years! Jimmy Buffet sang, “…if you ever wonder why you ride the carousel, it’s for the stories you can tell…” So look for me on the water. I could be anywhere at any time. Just call on one six for “Carousel.” Smooth Seas,

ABOUT THE TT 35 Great Harbour’s TT35 Trailerable Trawler combines the comforts and range of a full-featured liveaboard vessel with the operational simplicity, economy and versatility of an outboard-powered craft. The TT35 can be ramplaunched, land stored and moved overland cost-effectively by trailer. This ability to easily launch and retrieve the TT significantly reduces maintenance, moorage and insurance costs. In addition, systems such as power generation and climate control function on land as well as sea, allow the TT to become a “boater home” during overland journeys. Leading-edge composite materials make it light and strong, while the easily-driven hull form provides an unprecedented combination of speed and efficiency. Interior appointments include a true queen island berth in a private stateroom, a full-featured galley and a spacious head with separate stall shower. The saloon provides additional guest accommodations. Twin Suzuki four-stroke outboards deliver reliability and redundancy. They also leave the interior free of mechanical noise and odors, while freeing up hull space for storage. The TT’s shallow draft opens access to shallow anchorages and waterways, yet its modern, capable hull form makes it equally at home crossing to the Bahamas or cruising the Sea of Cortez.

KEY FEATURES Shallow draft: Slip into shallow and protected areas of crowded anchorages. The boat can be easily beached. Efficiency: Approaching 10 m.p.g. at traditional displacement speeds; 3 to 5 m.p.g. in the 12 to 18 mph range; top speed of 24 mph. Range: 1,000 mile range at displacement speeds, and in excess of 450 miles at 15 mph. Clearance: Air draft of less than 10 feet means the TT can pass under low fixed bridges and most draw bridges without waiting for an opening. Simplicity: All onboard systems are designed for reliability and ease of maintenance, including the reliable Suzuki outboards.
I have never ever fallen in love with a boat I have not seen in person until now. Finally, Ken Fickett is building the boat that I have mocked up in my head for years. [...]The maintenance regimen for modern outboards is so much simpler than it is for diesels, pairing them with an efficient hull seemed obvious to me, yet most boat designers still regard outboards as solely for planing boats. I've seen amazing fuel efficiency [...] with the TT you will finally prove the viability of today's fuel-efficient outboards for the long distance cruiser. Ken, you are light years ahead of other designers when it comes to this very practical vessel. - Kimberly P. Trombley (Owner of Hull #1 )
Ocean Capable: Faster cruising speeds allow much shorter “weather windows” than traditional displacement vessels and a comfortable, efficient running attitude when throttled back in rougher weather. Ease Of Launch & Retrieval: Easily ramp launched or stored in dry-stack by marine forklift; eliminating the need for costly marine travel lifts, and pricey boatyard bills. Trailerable: The gross vehicle weight under 10,000 pounds allows easy towing by a standard pickup truck. Easy Line Clearing & Prop Changes: Fully tilting up the outboards allows simple, quick line clearing or prop changes performed from the safety of the transom tailgate.
Safety: Maintains cruising speeds of 10 mph or more on a single engine with no loss of control or helm response. Unsinkable: High-density foam-cored construction gives plenty of inherent buoyancy, allowing the TT to remail afloat even if holed or swamped. Lock & Dock Friendly: Easily managed by a crew of two, or even single-handed by a competent skipper making use of the sliding helm door and midships spring cleat. More Cruising Options: The quick, mid to highteen cruising speeds of the TT35 increase the number of destinations available within each day’s cruising window.
The galley area includes a full-sized, energy-efficient refrigerator, induction cook top, microwave/convection oven and deep sink

Self Sufficiency: solar panels, water makers, washer/drier combos, as well as a standard composting head allow the TT to comfortably spend extended periods at anchor or on a mooring. World-Wide Range: The TT and its trailer can be loaded onto a roll-on/roll-off cargo ship and moved to ports around the world quickly, safely and inexpensively. Privacy: Enjoy the comforts of a full island queen berth, separate stall shower and open visibility all around. Guest Ready: The saloon seats six, while the covered cockpit provides bench seating for four or more.
The saloon dinette converts to a double berth. The forward bench can be reversed to create a front-facing navigator’s seat. A settee behind the helm adds additional seating for guests
Ease Of Boarding: Varied deck and cockpit heights allow for easy boarding at any level from the waterline floating docks to higher fixed docks. Natural Lighting & Ventilation: With a total of 18 hatches, windows, doors and port lights - most with screens- the TT 35 features lots of natural light and ventilation. Energy Efficient Lighting: LED fixtures draw a fraction of the power of conventional lights, and last up to 20,000 hours. Safe, Efficient Cooking: The electric induction cook top and microwave/convection oven eliminate the hazards of onboard propane, and can operate off the inverter/battery bank.
