The move had been expected since Sheeran’s agent Jon Ollier moved to CAA from Free Trade Agency in 2015. Sheeran, 25, recently completed a 179-date tour, selling out arenas around the world, including three dates at Wembley Stadium, making him the first-ever solo artist to headline the venue without a band. The singer continues to be represented by Paradigm Agency in the US and Canada.

First Cashless Venue for UK Allan McGowan am@vip-booking.com The UK’s first cashless venue is to open soon. Stage, a live music venue in Basingstoke will be the first in the country to not accept cash at the bar. All transactions will be carried out using radio frequency identification (RFID) payment technology. Credit cards will however still be accepted. Adam Hornblow, CEO of Stage Live Ltd, owners of the 1,400-capacity venue, told media that the decision was a matter of personal safety for the staff and customers, stating, “Cashless keeps the customers safe, it keeps the bar staff and your employees safe …there can’t be a robbery of cash if there’s no cash in the venue.” Stage opens in Basingstoke Town Centre on Friday, April 29, with live music from The Boomtown rats, Belle Roscoe and Max Milner.

Conventions Continue to Offer Further Variation of Topics Allan McGowan am@vip-booking.com As we mentioned in the last issue, ‘Music’ Conventions and Festivals are opening up the topics that are reviewed and discussed at these events. At Tallinn Music Week earlier this month discussions within the Creativity for Change Forum, were held on the Refugee Crisis, and it was suggested that music industry creativity and entrepreneurship could be used to help deal with such drastic situations. Some other seemingly ‘non-music’ themes are highlighted in this report.

The Great Escape ’16: May 19-21 The Great Escape Convention runs alongside the Brighton music festival, promoted by MAMA & Company, and brings together 3,500 music industry delegates. The four Convention ‘insight strands’ will take place on 19 and 20 May.
