United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region 2021 Annual Meeting & Campaign Celebration
Story & Photography by Tony Centonze United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region recently held its annual Meeting and Campaign Celebration luncheon event at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center. This year’s theme was ‘For the Love of Community.’
Nearly 300 people attended this year’s luncheon, at which UW leadership recognizes campaign achievements, and honors volunteer leadership. Also taking place was the election of local officers and board members for the 2021-2022 campaign.
During the event, Executive Director Valerie Guzman and her team recognized United Way volunteers, contributors, workplace partners and partner agency programs dedicated to UW’s mission – the education, health and financial stability of local residents.
This year’s Ben C. Parks award winner was Legends Bank for going over the top with their campaign. “Legends actually made an additional donation of the money that would have gone to their annual company Christmas party,” Guzman said. “This year’s Robert R. Welch Foundation Award was presented to Jack Turner and Don Jenkins for highest individual donor. Our 2020-2021 campaign raised $1,515,893.00, a record. I just want to say thanks to the entire community for stepping up during these difficult times to help us reach our goals, and make our community whole,” said Guzman.

MEET THE CLARKSVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT Community Relations Unit
The Community Relations Unit acts as a focal point for police efforts to create and maintain a climate of cooperation and trust, to gather information about citizens' concerns, and to respond effectively to them.
The mission of the Community Relations Unit is to do everything possible to keep channels of communication open between the Police Department and the public, and to assure that developing or potential problems are addressed constructively. The department’ s awareness programs will focus on crime prevention based on annual crime data by crime types and geographic areas as well as address community perceptions and misperceptions of crime.
The programs are designed to educate our community members on how they can lessen their chances of becoming a statistic. While these programs are only a small part of a comprehensive law enforcement effort, they focus on the prevention of crime from available crime data reports where improvement is essential to better serve its community.
