THE PODIUM - TOWER MODEL WAS ADOPTED MAINLY TO INCORPORATE EYES ON THE STREET & PROVIDE A SAFE OPEN SPACE FOR THE RESIDENCE ABOVE. THE DESIGN INCLUDES LOTS OF FUCNTIONS, WHICH WERE ONE OF THE NEEDS OF THE AREA, I.E POLYCLINIC, GUEST HOUSE, CAFES & RESTAURANTS. THE PODIUM FORMS A PRIVATE OPEN SPACE FOR THE RESIDENTS, WHICH ALSO HAS SOME BASIC RETAIL REQUIREMENTS, LAUNDARY ROOMS, COMMUNITY KITCHEN AND OTHER RECREATIONAL AREAS. THE TOWERS ARE ORIENTED ACCORDING TO THE SUN AND WITH BEST EFFORTS EVERY DWELLING UNIT RECIEVES LIGHT, VENTILATION AND VARIOUS VIEWS. VIERENDEEL GIRDERS ARE USED TO CONNECT EACH TOWER, IT ALSO CONTAINS DWELLING UNITS. THE CONNECTIONS ARE USED TO ACCESS DIFFERENT RECREATIONAL SPACES AT DIFFERENT LEVELS IN THE GIRDER AND TOWER. THE CIRCULATION OF PUBLIC AND PRIVATE W.R.T THE COMPLEX IS SORTED OUT IN ALL LEVELS.

THE WHITE COLOR CHOSEN WAS TO RELATE TO CP, THE PLANTERED PARAPETS REFLECT THE ABUNDANCE OF GREENERY IN THE LUTYENS AREA, THE RED SAND STONE WAS USED TO ACCENTUATE CERTAIN PARTS OF THE BUILDING. THE SHADING DEVICES AND TIMBER SLITS WERE DESIGNED ACCORDING TO THE SUN. THE EARTHLY COLOR SCHEME IS USED THROUGHOUT THE COMPLEX.

SITE PLAN THE DESIGN’S MAIN FOCUS IS TO GIVE SEAMLESS ENVIRONMENT FILLED WITH OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE CREATORS & ARTISTS. THE SITE PLAN IS PEDESTRIAN FRIENDLY AND FILLED WITH GREENERY, PROVIDES DIFFERENT TEXTURES FOR WALKING, TO MAKE THE USER FEEL RELAXED. THE ENTRANCE IS SPECIALLY DESIGNED TO PROVIDE LAYERS OF COMFORT FOR THE USER. THERE ARE DIFFERENT TYPES OF INBETWEEN SPACES, DESIGNED TO GIVE A DIFFERENT CHARACTER TO THE COMPLEX, LIKE THE ENTRACE OF THE WASHROOM AND NEAR THE VERTICAL CORE.

THE DESIGN IS UNIVERSALLY ACCESSIBLE & WOMEN SENSITIVE, AS IT DOES NOT HAVE ANY BLIND BUS STOP SPOTS AND CONTAINS RAMPS, LIFTS AND OTHER REQUIRED INFRASTRUCTURE. THE WAITING AREAS, TICKETING COUNTERS ARE DESIGNED ACCORDING TO THE SLEEPING & POLICE STATION SEATING PATTERNS OF PEOPLE. THE DESIGN CONVERSES WITH PEOPLE IN INTRICATE DETAILS LIKE THESE. MALL TO RESOLVE THE CIRCULATION, MULTILEVEL PARKING IS DESIGNED WHERE DIFFERENT LEVELS ARE CENTRAL STATION. USED DIFFERENTLY TO EASE CIRCULATION FOR THE RAILWAY

THE PUBLIC PLAZA ALSO CONTAINS SLEEPING UNITS AND A L SPACE FOR CULTURAL ACTIVITIES LIKE CHATT POOJA.
MULTILEVEL PARKING IS USED TO REGULATE THE MOVEMENT O HICLES, WHICH MAKES THE PLAZA COMPLETELY PEDESTRIAN.
ROOF DESIGN :
THE ROOF IS DESIGNED ACCORDING TO THE CLIMATIC CONDITIONS. IT IS BROKEN UP INTO 2 MODULES, WHICH CUT OUT HEAT GAIN FROM EAST & WEST AND PROVIDES A SPACE FOR THE PLACEMENT OF SOLAR PANELS. ONLY THE DIFFUSED LIGHT ENTERS INTO THE BUILDING, IN A DESIGNER PATTERN SHOWN IN THE VIEW.

THE CLUSTER IS MADE AS SHOWN, TWO UNITS ARE PLACED WITH AN OPEN SPACE IN THE CENTER, AND A CORE WHICH CONNECTS BOTH THE UNITS AT EVERY LEVEL. BECAUSE OF THE SLANTED ROOF, COURTYARD EFFECT HAPPENS. THE GREEN SPACE IN THE MIDDLE CREATES A MICROCLIMATE.

5 WATER MANAGEMENT:
THE ROOF HAS GUTTER ON BOTH SIDES WHICH COLLECTS WATER AND PASSES IT ON TO A SWALE , WHICH IS LANDSCAPED WITH BOULDERS. THIS CAN BE AN ACTIVE SPOT ONLY AT RAINY MONTHS.
AFTER A LOT OF EXPERIMENTATION ON THE ROOF DESIGN, A CURVILINEAR FORM WAS DEVELOPED. THE FORM NEEDED TO BE REALISED, SO DIFFERENT ALTERNATIVE CONSTRUCTION METHODS WERE LOOKED UP AND FOUR OF WHICH WERE SHORTLISTED.

THE ROOF ACTS AS A SKIN TO THE BUILDING AND PROTECTS IT FROM THE WEATHER, INDEPENDENT OF THE CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL / PROCESS USED.

Door & Window types present in Kesardev Poddarki Chhatri, elevational measured drawing done thor. Each door irrespective of size had two shutters which were pivoted to top and base. Intricate timber Shutters are used and light metal work is done to provide stiffness to the doors. Windows we ally made of timber Lintel and Jaali made of weaving metal rods as shown in the drawing.
KESARDEV PODDARKI CHHATRI
Chhatri complexes are funerary structures built as memorials to ancestors and in many a case these housed a shrin dharamshala. The Kesardev Poddarki Chhatri in Ramgarh is among the best specimens. With an imposing flight of ste ing to it, the cenotaph is crowned by multiple domes and a bagicha with well-defined pathways and 4 tanks at the These monumental cenotaphs were built outside the town limit. Kesar dev Poddar Chattri is three storey high structu ground using steps one can approach second floor. Ground floor is not approachable and used for storage now. First a Shiv temple in the center and it can be accessed by one of the landings of the main staircase. Second floor is cen podium with dome above).
