From stone finishes to wood furniture, we love to surround ourselves with things that remind us of the outdoors. One sure way of bringing nature inside is incorporating plants into your living space. Beyond ascetic value, indoor plants offer many benefits including, improving air quality, reducing stress, and lower background noise. Adding plants can quite literally add life to your space and make it a more enjoyable place to live. Whether you have a green thumb or not, here are three tips for incorporating plants into your home design.

Floor

Plants

If you find that you have too much open space in your room, a floor plant may be the answer you are looking for. Rather than filling your empty corners with more furniture, add some green. A few of the most popular floor plants include a Fiddle-leaf-fig, a Philodendron, and a Parlour Palm.

Blooming

Plants

Houseplants don’t always have to be green. Blooming plants have the same benefits as normal green houseplants, but with the added benefit of color. Orchids, African Violets, and Bromeliads are all examples of blooming plants that are sure to make a statement in a room.

Succulents

and

Cacti

If you don’t have a green thumb, then no worries, succulents or cacti may be the perfect option for you. Caring for plants can be challenging, especially if you don’t have enough time to devote to watering. Succulents and cacti are incredibly easy to look after and require little to no maintenance.
