The Brief
Create a new identity, including graphics and programming, for the iconic Palads Cinema in downtown Copenhagen.
A Branding & Programming Redesign Proposal
For this challenge, I set the following priorities: REDEFINE
Palads as a premier destination
CELEBRATE
Palads’ signature design elements
INVIGORATE
Palads’ by injecting new life and personality
PUMPEHUSET
PALADS Vesterport Station
CIRKUS Rådhuspladsen Station Rådhusplads
Axeltorv
København H Station plazas venues food & beverage hotels transportation
TIVOLI
STEP 1: Analyze the surroundings.
STEP 2: Analyze the venue.
Ample F&B space Multi-function area Reopened atrium / reception space
Physical Planning A form of urban land use planning which attempts to achieve an optimal spatial coordination of different human activities for the enhancement of the quality of life.
Fully restored theater / grand hall
New outdoor entrance & stage
Unique seating and social space
PROPOSAL: Create a mixeduse venue.
ven路ue [ven-yoo] noun
1. The place where something happens, esp. an organized event such as a concert, conference, or sports event. [ from Old French venir to come, from Latin venire ]
EXECUTION: Create a logo & identity, rotating events, & implement
to路do
> create logo and identity for in-house event firm > brand a rotating calendar of events > implement branding in fun, imaginative ways to provoke curiosity and invite people into the space.

Retaining the name leverages existing familiarity (and notoriety), while seamlessly transitioning into the new venue concept
As with the @ symbol, the gray color block references the new institutional branding, while framing the new in-house event firm
The @ also echoes the building’s iconic archways which inspired the new institutional signage
In a similar manner, @PALADS seeks to inject new ‘color’ into Copenhagen culture
