Center for Teacher Development and Educational Innovation

Site: Leon, Guanajuato CEDDIE emerges as a support entity for the strategies of the Tec21 Educational Model.

Year: 2017

The objective is to identify, support, and promulgate both educational and innovation efforts on campus. These centers are accomodated within existing buildings on campus across the country, having as main criterion respect of existing structures while creating a coherent design language between these centers such that, regardless of the campus you are in, the space is read as part of a larger whole. Private spaces such as meeting rooms, recording studios, and boardrooms, Clasroom. Between these two open spaces materials in floors, ceilings, and walls, evidence a room division; it is as well with these changes of color and textures that a twist in the atmosphere is achieved.

Initially, the project required a classroom where students could receive classes having technologies available to enable and enhance their learning experience, resulting A

in a space of roughly 250m2 to renovate. With a chance in the client’s budget, this Innovation Classroom is left behind, modifying the space to intervene and the geometry of the spaces that at the service of the users.

The final area to be intervened is just under 190m2, changing the perimeter of the space in such a way that the new proposal would adapt with ease to the existing structure of the building, leaving the more closed up spots for the areas requiring a

The AR120 serves its function today as a space for architecture workshops. The ground floor is made up of a flexible and open space to hold talks

for students and guests, interdisciplinary collaboration area, and coworking spaces;

adjacent to it are the carpentry workshops, C-LAB offices, printing area, and laser cut lab. Once upstairs, an open area serves as a space to hold workshops for different courses, there is also a locker area used to hold exhibitionsfor student exhibits. The current project proposal responds to the changes devised in the Model Tec21, seeking to unify the space and leave it as a building ready to recieve architecture students and other related courses; the design offers a spatial flexibility that allows modalities designed by the school, optimizing resources to make the best use of the space.

SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE Original plans In 2013, a contest was held among architecture students, where a proposal by Marcela Alonso and Daniel Valero stands out, outlining a flexible program with a spatial logic that responds to the needs of the current user and at the same time being able to respond to changes in future uses. Aiming to make the spaces that the School of Architecture, Art, and Design needs to promote the best learning and meetings more efficient, the proposal of closed classrooms on the ground floor for those more theoretical courses remains, leaving the workshop areas and the cowork spaces

With the on going rennovation of Campus Monterrey leading to the Tec21 model, adhering to the guidelines proposed by Distrito TEC and Tec de Monterrey, several existing parking lots are lost, which no longer provided enough spaces for the current

student population of the campus; this leads to the proposal and creation of a new parking space that seeks to satisfy this demand. A reinforced concrete structure with a rectangular volumes is proposed, resulting in two basements, one half basement, and six levels above ground; this leaves a total count of 953 parking spaces in roughly 31,000m2 of construction. A strip of planters and shops is also proposed in the front facing the street to promote a with sieve mesh proposed for the first two levels and an equally permeable but more complesx and visually pleasing façade on the upper levels.
