Mid Island Director Dan Bourlet

Thank you to all who attended the Club’s 25th Anniversary Mid Island Picnic on Sunday Aug 15, 2021 at the Rocking Horse Pub, Nanoose Bay. The weather was mostly sunny and warm, great for sitting outside on the pub patio for our served lunch. There were 33 Porsches and 56 people in attendance.

Our Show & Shine was nicely displayed by the volunteers that helped to park and position the vehicles on the grass and pavement areas. The “People’s Choice Award”, of the Show & Shine, was awarded to Ann Aikenhead (with Shrek). Dean was absent for the moment of glory, however a second mysterious Shrek appeared to keep Ann company on the ride home. We also had one Second place

winner, a tie for Third place and one Fourth place winner. I was a wee bit confused in giving the awards, but it was straightened out in the end. My apologies to Bryce Holtz for my confusion. We would like to thank Louise and her staff at the Rocking Horse for a great lunch and their excellent service. The food was very good, and cooked to order. We appreciate the cooperation in the use of their facility for our show & shine.

There were three large boxes of food and cash donations, from the Porsche Club attendees, for the Parksville Food Bank. Gary and I presented them to food bank, and the volunteers were extremely grateful for our Club’s generosity (see below). Dan

Also, an event organised by Dan Bourlet and Dave Goede, was the Fairwinds Golf Club Lunch and Drive on Sunday, August 22nd. Brad Blaney, event attendee said “Another well organized drive last Sunday! Thanks Dan & Dave. Lunch at Fairwinds Golf Course in Nanoose. Followed by a drive North to Little Qualicum Falls. Enjoyed by all, as evidenced in these photos! ”
