2021
Welcome to our inaugural virtual Animation dingle! When we ran a handful of pared back events last year after the pandemic hit, we were sure we would be meeting everyone again in 2021. But, that wasn’t to be. Instead, we had to get Covid Creative. But when doors close, windows open and we are delighted with the new opportunity this challenge has brought to us. Having attended virtual events and festivals myself over the past year, I have been able to assess what it is I would like to see for Virtual Animation Dingle. I hope that you enjoy the platform; we have worked hard to bring you a festival that is easy to navigate, intuitive and easy to enjoy - a one ticket, all-you-can-eatanimation festival experience. We have over 2500 minutes of digital content. We have shorts and features. We have our conference with panels, workshops, guests and the usual Big Pitcher, Sketch Trail, and our interactive Studio Pub Trail. We are excited by our integration of Discord, allowing students to set meetings with studios, portfolio reviews, and lots more besides, Discord will allow optimal interaction in our events. And our ever-present guest each year, quietly and wonderfully hosting us all, is the beautiful Dingle Town. We wanted to include Dingle on our platform, including our special venues, giving our festival goers a sense of being there. We say, make your ‘there’ our ‘here’ and with our virtual Dingle, it is easy to imagine being on your barstool or at your fireside chat... And it looks so lovely too! So, enjoy it all. A huge thank you to our funders and sponsors, for their continued support! Thank you too so much for your support last year and this year; for buying a ticket; for taking a seat; and for joining us. Next year, we promise... See you in Dingle!

Welcome Dear guests, It was disappointing but not surprising for Dingle to be entirely virtual in 2021. what was surprising was that the Animation Dingle festival is quite suited to Digital. It’s not ideal and we long for a time when we can rub shoulders with you all again and celebrate in person the artistry carried out by both colleges and companies. what has remained the same is the quality of content available across a new and innovative platform. live streams events as well as workshops and screenings mean that you get to see and interact more than ever through Discord. we’ll learn about how the nature of work in animation studios has changed over the past 12 months and the many opportunities that exist for graduates and self taught artists. Animation Dingle has always been about connecting Students with Industry and this is reinforced more than ever this year. Please meet and interact with as many of the Animation Companies both in Ireland and internationally as you can. As well as the numbeous decision makers from TV and Film that will be in attendance. Along with all our many sponsors and supporters I’d like to thank everyone at Jam Media for ‘volunteering’ once again and a big shout out has to go to Animation Dingle co-founder Maurice Galway who has worked tirelessly in making the digital jump happen. Onwards!

Producers applied with animated features and series projects in early development. Of this year’s event, ACE director Jacobine van der Vloed said, ‘we’re thrilled to be joining with our Irish partners once again for the Animation Special. Of course, the fact that we’re not going to be in Dingle in March is disappointing for all involved, but after our experience last year, we’re confident of delivering a dynamic workshop that will offer our producers the key knowledge to make their way in the animation industry.’
