CONCEPT

THE SQUARE REPRESENTS THE PURE AND THE RATIONAL IT IS A STATIC AND NEUTRAL FIGURE HAVING NO PREFERRED DIRECTION ALL OTHER RECTANGLES CAN BE CONSIDERED VARIATIONS BY THE ADDITION ON HEIGHT OR WIGTH LIKE THE TRIANGLE THE SQUARE IS STABLE WHEN RESTING ON ONE OF ITS SIDES AND DYNAMIC WHEN STANDING ON ONE ITS CORNERS.

SOUTH SIDE ROAD OF THE SITE IS RAISEDBY 1.3M THERE IS AN ELECTRIC TRANSFORMER AT SOUTH OF THE SITE

02 HOUSING DESIGN THE BRIEF WAS TO REDESIGN THE EXISTING HOUSING BOARD INTO HOUSING APARTMENTS WHICH SHOULD BE AFFORDABLE FOR THE ECONOMICALLY WEAKER SECTION. THE SITE GIVEN TO US WAS GIVEN IN NUNGAMBAKKAM.

03 BOUTIQUE HOTEL THE BREIF WAS TO DESIGN A BOTIQUE HOTEL WHICH SHOULD BE SMALL AND SHOULD NOT HAVE MORE THAN 100 ROOMS. WE WERE ASKED TO CHOOSE THE LOCATION AT CITY CENTRE AND ALSO WE FOCUSED ON VIEWS AND VISTAS FROM THE SITE. THE MAIN IDEA WAS TO DEVELOP THE BUILDING EFFICIENTLY IN A SUSTINABLE MANNER.

LOCATION: DURGABAI DESHMUKH ROAD, GANDHI NAGAR, ADYAR CHENNAI-600020

MRTS STATION SUCH AS KASTURBAI NAGAR, INDIRA NAGAR AND THIRUVANMIYUR HAVE ENCROACHED THE CANAL AND NARROWED THE WIDTH OF THE CANAL. SO WE WERE GIVEN A OPTION TO DESIGN THE ENTIRE STRETCH OR THE PARTICULAR STATION.

NIVASA is an Architectural and Engineering NGO with a vision for every Indian to have a habitable home. In a small village called Udaigiri, in the outskirts of Bangalore hosts a project of NIVASA, which was converted into a workshop for the students and we were divided into two batches,helped majorly in making CSEB blocks for the rural housing project. This project basicslly thought me of making compressed earth blocks by a mechanical press to form blocks out of an appropriate mix of soil,clay and aggregate. Since it was a load bearing structure, i was also able to know about the details of load bearing structures. Being with new people and experiencing a new cculture gave me good experience.

Centre for Indian Bamboo Research and Technology organised a workshop at Palampur, Himachal Pradesh. The major importance was given to bamboo crafts training session. Various bamboo crafting techniques were taught by the trainers. Finally I was able to develop models of my own ideas and creativity using bamboo. After few days of training i was able to know the importance of bamboo. It is a low cost making and primary material for arricles of everyday use as well as the decorative items.It is also used for building houses, make ladders and scaffcolds. This was an excellent opportunity to create a unique and authentic souvenir that will always remind me of my unforgettable journey to himachal pradesh.

The criteria of evaluating the site and bringing out design princples were based on the criteria from the initiative. MENTORS: AR.Vinod Aranha

The concept of the workshop revolved around UNICEF’s initiative “Child Friendly Cities”. The site given to us was GT roads and car street in mangalore. These streets are one of the largest occupying public space in a city and a space were children seldom welcome. After analysing the streets, we came out with the innovative proposal for the sites and also that was reviewed by the NITTE staff. After all my studies and experience with the children in mangalore , I felt that every child and young person should get a proper environment where they feel safe and secure, also a user friendly environment.
