2011 VISIONARIES PROGRAMME SPONSORS We are delighted to bring you the Visionaries’ Conference programme for January ‐ June 2011 with the support of our sponsors: DDI helps organisations close the gap between the talent they have and the talent they need. We bring a practical approach to talent management used by thousands of organisations around the world. Our blueprint for success integrates all of the major strategies, processes and activities required to systematically manage talent and therefore ensure organisations have enough of the right people, in the right place, at the right time to deliver business success. When having the best possible people is central to your business, DDI will work with you to define: what skills your leaders need to succeed; what gaps exist in the quality and quantity of talent you have; establish the strengths and weaknesses of your existing talent management approach; and most importantly, deliver a strategy to close the talent gaps. www.ddiworld.com The Harvard Business Review has one goal: to be the source of the best new ideas for people creating, leading, and transforming business. For nearly 60 years social scientists have been studying the factors that cause people to be influenced by the requests and proposals of others, especially in the fields of customer management, employee engagement, leadership and marketing.

In this specially presented masterclass, Steve Martin will explore the psychology of persuasion and will present insights and information into what causes people to change, to act, and to say “Yes”. According to Steve’s research, the chances are that much of our success at work will lie in the ability to influence and persuade others. Whether your leaders are looking to gain more customers, work more collaboratively, bring new products and services to market, or drive change initiatives, they won’t be surprised to learn that their success will very often depend on an ability to get others to say ‘Yes’ to their requests. But if the ability to get others to say ‘Yes’ is so central to success, what do we know about how the influence process works? By understanding the Science of Persuasion, anyone’s ability to persuade others can be vastly improved. Sometimes successful persuasion requires only small and relatively costless changes to the requests you make. No longer do you have to rely on your own intuition, guesses or instincts when it comes to attempting to persuade others.

CONTENT OVERVIEW The main outcomes from this masterclass will be a clear understanding of:

‐ The six universal Principles of Persuasion ‐ How to identify situations in human interaction when people are most likely to say “Yes” to your requests ‐ The core influence skills behind successful negotiation and communication ‐ How to apply the Principles to your specific role so that you become optimally persuasive ESSENTIAL INFORMATION Date: Tuesday 15th March 2011 Location: The George Hotel, Edinburgh Timings: 9.30am – 3.30pm (registration from 8.45am) More information: Call +44 (0)1224 636200 or visit www.benchmarkforbusiness.com
