The Thinkers50 was created by Stuart Crainer and Des Dearlove (www.crainerdearlove.com). They have been business commentators for more than twenty years and have worked with some of the world's greatest business thinkers. The Thinkers50 was an idea conceived at a lunch in 2001. The idea was to rank the most important living management thinkers. The first ranking was published in 2001 and was sponsored by FTDynamo. It was the first global ranking of management thinkers and has been published every two years since. With each ranking the impact and reach of the Thinkers50 has increased. The 2009 ranking was announced at a Thinkers50 event in Bucharest with simultaneous media announcements in Europe through The Times, in the United States through Forbes.com and in India via Forbes India. The Thinkers50 receives extensive media attention worldwide. It has made the front page of national newspapers -- The Independent in the UK and The Times of India in 2007 -- as well as being featured in an array of other publications. In 2009 the Thinkers50 was featured in publications in more than 20 countries. For more information see www.thinkers50.com.
