Have the events of 2020 affected or influenced your design philosophy?

Creating a sense of delight through design has always been the core of our studio’s ethos, whether it is building a connection with nature, the use of colours and materials, or spatial planning. With the pandemic essentially reshaping every aspect of our work and personal lives, we will continue to put priority on designing for wellness and wellbeing — an element that has been central to our body of work.

Will design awards continue to be important to your business?

We are very much a project-focused studio. More than anything, awards are a recognition of our team and our clients for the time and effort invested in achieving the design vision. International awards also give us the opportunity to expand our reach. It’s inspiring to be among the vast range of projects that come from all parts of the globe.

House of Madison is a multi-brand experience dedicated to premium home furnishings and lifestyle brands. Covering 5,200 sq-ft over two storeys, the space was designed with a residential flair, emphasising themes of personal journey and discovery through a series of shifting interior scenes. A striking grand staircase connects the ground floor gallery to the understated living space upstairs, where a combination of bronze mesh arches and carefullyedited furniture pieces define the architectural setting.

Merit Award Project leader: Frank Leung Design team: May Ho, Michelle Fok, Sally Richardson Completed: 2019 La Maison Goutal is the first Asia flagship store for French perfume house Goutal. Envisioned as the Parisian apartment of its late founder, the design pays homage to the brand’s French legacy, fusing classical elements with contemporary touches. A key feature of the boutique is a floor-to-ceiling perfume display constructed from more than 600 transparent cylinders in a wraparound structure. The flagship also features a bar, designed for exclusive wine and perfume pairing sessions.
