Health and safety protocols Barbados has instituted strict protocols for visitors and returning residents to ensure the safety of everyone on island. View the most current Health & Safety Protocols by clicking here. Travel Bubble The Government of Barbados has also implemented a travel ‘Bubble’ for countries with a low incidence of COVID-19, effective August 5, 2020. They are St. Vincent, St. Kitts, Dominica, St. Lucia, Nevis and Grenada.
Under these new travel protocols, persons travelling within the ‘Bubble’ who have not travelled to or transited through any high, medium or low-risk country within 21 days prior to travel to Barbados, will not be required to take a COVID-19 PCR test prior to or on arrival and do not require monitoring during their stay. For further details on the travel bubble click here.

Coping with COVID-19 With less than 150 confirmed cases so far, with 112 recovered, Barbados has managed to keep widespread infections from occurring on the island through the following of strict protocols by residents and visitors. The wearing of masks and temperature checks is mandatory in most public places and the majority of people adhere to the requirements when venturing out. Many places also have hand sanitiser stations situated at the entrances and other strategic points. • • • • •
In restaurants and bars, social distancing measures are noticeable with less tables for greater spacing and limited seating, disposable placemats, menus available via a quick QR Code scan and new operation guidelines for staff. Distance markers are evident in supermarkets, banks and other public areas to ensure people stay at least 3 feet apart. Island tours and attractions are available for smaller groups, perfect for families or friends. Gyms are open with limited capacity for occupancy, which also extends to classes like pilates, yoga or spin. Spas and beauty salons are also observing their own set of protocols with services by appointment only. Nevertheless, many activities are able to operate safely and efficiently, ensuring patrons are still able to comfortably enjoy themselves.

When the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) announced the temporary suspension of cruise ships around the world back in March, many ships were in the middle of their cruise vacations and needed a port of call in which to berth for the time being. Many of them also had to get passengers and crew back to their home countries and also needed to replenish fuel and supplies for those left on board. Barbados stood ready, willing and extremely able to assist these ships in need when other ports had refused them. As many as 35 ships from AIDA Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean, and more, benefitted from the hospitality of this little country. So grateful was the crew from the AIDA Perla that upon their departure they literally lit up with thanks for Barbados.
Click on the video link left to see the message from the Captain of the Aida Perla cruise ship thanking Barbados for their assistance.
