TRAVEL PROTOCOL UPDATE Countries of Special Consideration With Immediate Effect: All passengers (both vaccinated and unvaccinated) who have travelled through or from the following countries within the last within the last 21 days will have the following testing arrangements: Argentina, Angola, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Botswana, Brazil, Chile, Djbuti, Equatorial Guinea, Georgia, Eswatini, Haiti, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Malaysia, Mozambique, Nepal, Pakistan, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Portugal, Qatar, Reunion, Republic of Congo, Singapore, South Africa, Suriname, Tunisia, Uganda, Uruguay, Vietnam, Zambia, Zimbabwe
Travellers must arrive in Barbados with a valid COVID-19 standard PCR* Test within 3 days prior to arrival • Have a COVID-19 standard PCR Test conducted on arrival at the airport • 7 days in-room quarantine (no exceptions) • Test on day 8 and on receipt of a negative test result can exit quarantine. • There will be no distinction between the vaccinated and un-vaccinated passengers traveling from the aforementioned countries. *All travellers will be required to quarantine at their own expense. Persons seeking to travel to Barbados with passports from Brazil, India and South Africa are required to apply for entry visas (single, multiple) prior to arrival. Visit immigration.gov.bb These persons with passports from Brazil, South Africa and India will be required to quarantine at one of the following identified properties for the full quarantine period at the expense of the traveller. There will be no exceptions. • Sugar Cane Club • The Sands *Accepted COVID-19 standard PCR tests are tests which were taken at
an accredited or recognized laboratory by a healthcare provider via a nasopharyngeal or oropharyngeal sample (or both) within 3 days prior to arrival. Self-administered tests or home kits and rapid tests or tests using saliva samples will NOT be accepted.
VACCINATED TRAVELLER PROTOCOL All travellers are required to:
• Present proof of a valid negative COVID-19 standard PCR test taken 3 days prior to travel • Have the test taken at an accredited or recognized laboratory by a healthcare provider • Have a sample taken via a nasopharyngeal or oropharyngeal swab N.B. LAMP tests, self-administered tests or home kits and rapid tests or tests using saliva samples will NOT be accepted. 1. Persons who are fully vaccinated and come with a valid negative COVID-19 standard PCR test, carried out no more than three (3) days prior to travel, will have a COVID-19 standard PCR test done on arrival at the airport or their approved accommodation. 2. Fully vaccinated travellers are required to use specially designated transportation providers for their transport from the airport to approved accommodation.
VACCINATED TRAVELLER PROTOCOL 3. While awaiting this on-island COVID-19 standard PCR test result, fully vaccinated travellers will be restricted to their approved accommodation, where they are free to move around in accordance with the guidelines of that property. This use of property includes use of pool facilities but excludes access to the beach, spas, personal butler services or gym facilities. This restricted use of property is for the period until they receive their negative test result. 4. On receipt of a negative COVID-19 standard PCR test result and clearance by Ministry of Health officials, travellers are free to enjoy the island.
FULLY VACCINATED TRAVELLER • •
Travellers will be considered to be fully vaccinated if: They have completed a full regimen of vaccines for any of the MHW approved COVID-19 vaccinations, more than two weeks prior to travel to Barbados.
Travellers who have mixed vaccine regimens of Ministry of Health and Wellness approved vaccines will be considered fully vaccinated. E.g. (1st dose of one brand followed by 2nd dose of another which is not a one-dose regimen).

N.B: The travel history of a fully vaccinated traveller, where they have travelled from or transited through countries of special consideration within the 21 day period immediately prior to arrival, will determine which protocols apply.
•
Countries of special consideration are those where the prevalence of certain variants of COVID-19 are deemed of particular concern to Barbados Public Health Officials.
UNVACCINATED TRAVELLER •
A traveller will be considered to be unvaccinated when they are:
•
A person who has not be vaccinated at all and therefore has no evidence of such.
•
A person who claims to have been vaccinated but has either produced no valid evidence of vaccination or the evidence produced is in doubt.
•
A person who has been vaccinated using a vaccine not on the approved list of vaccinations
•
A person who has only received one dose of a two dose regimen.

VACCINE CERTIFICATION Whereas pre submission for approval of vaccine certificates is preferred, proof of vaccination, in the form of a vaccine certificate, is required for entry for fully vaccinated travellers. Validation of certificates at point of entry will include one of the following: 1. 2. 3.
Proof of issuance from a National Public Health Organisation. Proof of documented vaccination issued by a hospital or medical centre. Use of an independent validation system, such as IATA Travel Pass, or The Digital Green Certificate. These may have QR Codes and verifiable Apps incorporated.
It is required that vaccine certificates are presented in English. Persons who fail to provide proof of vaccination and proof of a negative COVID-19 standard PCR test taken at an accredited or recognized laboratory by a healthcare provider via a nasopharyngeal or oropharyngeal sample (or both) within 3 days prior to arrival, will NOT be accepted and will be subject to the protocols of unvaccinated travellers.
VACCINE CERTIFICATION Cont’d Recommended Steps: 1.
Upload the proof of the vaccination certificate via the BIMSafe App.
2.
Verify via Electronic Health Passports.
3.
Travel with the paper and electronic form.
PROTOCOLS FOR TRAVELLERS BASED ON TRAVEL HISTORY •
The travel history of a fully vaccinated traveller, where they have travelled from or transited through countries of special consideration, will determine which protocols apply.
•
Vaccinated travellers coming from or transiting countries of special consideration in the past 21 days will be treated as outlined on Page 3, and will be required to observe the associated travel guidelines.
•
Acceptance of vaccination status will not be considered independently if there is a high prevalence of COVID-19 Variants of Concern (VoC).
•
All travellers are advised to consult the list of countries of special consideration using the link below.
•
The list of countries with high prevalence of Variants of Concern will be updated regularly on BTMI website www.barbados travel protocols.com based on a directive from the MOHW.
FAMILY & GROUP TRAVEL Children under 18: •
•
Some travellers may be travelling with children who may not have been vaccinated. Children under 18 years, travelling with fully vaccinated guardians will be allowed to adhere to the same guidelines as their fully vaccinated guardians. If a child with the family party should test positive the entire family will need to quarantine together.
Groups comprising vaccinated and unvaccinated travellers •
If a fully vaccinated adult traveler is traveling with an unvaccinated adult traveler, 18 years and older, and they choose not to be separated, then the rules applied to the unvaccinated traveler, will also apply to the fully vaccinated traveller.
UNACCOMPANIED MINORS •
All unaccompanied minors under 18 years of age must travel with proof of a negative COVID-19 standard PCR test result. Accepted COVID-19 standard PCR tests are tests which were taken at an accredited or recognized laboratory by a healthcare provider via a nasopharyngeal or oropharyngeal sample (or both) within 3 days prior to arrival. Self-administered tests or home kits and rapid tests or tests using saliva samples will NOT be accepted.

Vaccinated unaccompanied minors will follow the proposed protocol for all vaccinated travellers. Unvaccinated unaccompanied minors will follow the protocol of unvaccinated travellers. Where guardians are considering travel for unaccompanied minors they are required to make a submission to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for his consideration via covid19hotline@barbados.gov.bb
