COFFEE Cafe Evoke introduced Downtown Edmond to craft coffee. In addition to great coffee and good vibes, Cafe Evoke serves tea, craft waffles, sandwiches, cheese boards, wine, beer and cocktails. Aspen Coffee Company has two locations in Edmond serving freshly roasted coffee, smoothies, sandwiches, wraps, pastries and dessert. Ellis Island Coffee and Wine Lounge has a location in Downtown Edmond and a new location in Southeast Edmond. They offer coffee from local roasters, wine, craft beer, and host live music performances. The Armstrong Auditorium is a world-class performing arts center presenting classical, ballet, jazz, chamber and folk music from international artists. DOWNTOWN MURALS Downtown boasts a growing number of murals. Tropical Oasis, by Brooke Rowland, is painted on the north side of Sunnyside Diner. Kris Kanaly’s mural adorns the walls of the patio at the Edmond Railyard. A mural inspired by the desert towers of Utah, by Jason Pawley, is painted on Blocwork’s Climbing Gym patio on the east side of their building. Zonly Looman’s Buffalo off Broadway & A Herd off Hurd are located in an alley off Hurd and Broadway. At the Littler Lawn at 1st and Littler, Zonly Looman has adorned the west brick wall with vibrant, horizontal stripes and Brook Rowland has decorated the north wall with a Downtown Edmond mural. An outdoor gallery of 11 unique murals lines the alleys of Downtown Edmond. Stroll the alleyways behind businesses at 1st and Broadway to see more than 4,700 square feet of colorful murals.

INTERACTIVE New art installations by Zonly Looman encourage engagement that goes beyond looking with your eyes. The I’m Grateful wall is a chalkboard display with a simple prompt of “I’m grateful…” which offers visitors the opportunity to fill in the blank. Share the Love is a colorful piece in front of the post office that holds note cards for those who wish to send a letter, sharing the Edmond love far and wide. At Festival Market Place, hang a lock on Key To My Heart to symbolically display everlasting love. Take a selfie at the Route 66 Shield, installed as a Boy Scout Eagle project, nestled under the northeast corner of the pavilion.
“My boyfriend and I went to Frenzy and then had dinner at The Mule. We got done and went for a walk in downtown. We came across the adorable arrow and discovered the post cards. I kept walking, but he stayed back, with a sly grin on his face. I stayed ahead of him for a bit, waiting on him to finish what he was doing. Well, the next couple days, he kept checking the mail frequently. By Tuesday, I had a cute Edmond postcard from him, saying he loved me very much. SCULPTURES Jester is a playful bronze piece by Victor Issa, beckoning passersby to stop and play in front of Native Summit, while Gary Lee Price’s bronze Monet aptly sits in front of Edmond’s Fine Arts Institute. Color Crazy Swirl is Andrew Carson’s kinetic stainless steel piece that dances in the Oklahoma wind off Broadway, south of 1st street. Story Time by Blair Muhlestein sits on the southwest corner of 1st and Broadway, can often be seen with children gathered around.
UNIVERSITY AREA The Golden Broncho bronze statue is unofficially named “Buddy” and located on the UCO Campus at Hamilton Field House. A bronze sculpture by Shan Gray in honor of Edmond’s renowned Olympic gold gymnast, Shannon Miller is adjacent to the Edmond Public Library, S. Jackson St & E. 1st
NORTHEAST Ripple Effect is a kinetic piece by Cole + Rosser located inside the Water Resource Recovery Facility. The facility is new and open for tours by appointment, (405) 216-7697. The Dancing Timber Ridge Family is a playful steel piece located at the entrance of Timber Ridge neighborhood on Ramblewood off Boulevard.

Cruise through Edmond on historic Route 66, a famous original road in the U.S. highway system. Here are some can’t-miss experiences and photo opportunities while traveling The Mother Road: Just a short drive east of I-35 on Route 66, a giant pop bottle towers over the service station and restaurant, Pops. Half a mile east in Arcadia sits the historic Round Barn. The Edmond 66 Softball Complex on Post and Route 66 holds a four-field softball complex that hearkens to the early days of leisure. Enjoy five Arcadia Lake parks for camping, swimming, kayaking, hiking, mountain biking, boating, fishing and picnics. The University of Central Oklahoma is the oldest public institution of higher education in Oklahoma and third largest university in the state. Old North was the first higher education building in Oklahoma Territory and is an Edmond icon. Touch the Clouds is a breathtaking art piece by David McGary that sits at the entrance of UCO, just west of Garland Godfrey Drive.

The Statue of Liberty greets Route 66 at Boulevard. The original replica was purchased by the Boy Scouts of America and was recast in 2007 by the LibertyFest Centennial Board. The Edmond Historical Society & Museum is located on Boulevard, just south of Route 66. It is free and open to the public with rotating exhibits, a children’s area, research library and genealogical center. The 1889 Territorial Schoolhouse sits on Route 66 off Boulevard. Built during the land run, it is one of the oldest remaining one-room schoolhouses in Oklahoma Territory.

The Rodkey House, also known as the 1900’s painted lady, was built in the early 1900’s by Isaac Rodkey, owner of the Rodkey Flour Mill. It serves as a location for programs hosted by the Edmond Historical Society & Museum. The Festival Market Place is a public gathering outdoor pavilion in the heart of Edmond, and home to seasonal farmers markets. Stop by Key To My Heart after purchasing a lock from a shop in downtown to hang on this beautiful art piece to symbolically display everlasting love. Take a selfie at the Route 66 Shield, installed as a Boy Scout Eagle project, nested under the pavilion. Kentucky Daisey is a lifesize art piece combining bronze and marble. Artist Mary Lou Gresham designed the piece to tell the story of reporter Nannita R.H. Daisey. Downtown Edmond, as we now know it, began in 1887 with the construction of a railroad station. Route 66 intersects with downtown and then takes it’s journey south. Downtown is home to coffee shops, grocery stores, retail, a craft beer house and brewery, antiques, restaurants and more. The Mainstreet Edmond mural was painted by Dr. Bob Palmer and his students from the University of Central Oklahoma in 2004. The mural celebrates Edmond’s history as a Route 66 landmark at 302 S. Broadway. The Blue Hippo is a well-known, unique icon of Route 66. The hippo could once be seen moving around town, but has now found its permanent location on Broadway, south of 2nd street.

Experience life unplugged. From pristine sports facilities to wide open green spaces, Edmond encourages the importance of play.
PARKS A suburban oasis, Hafer Park is located in the center of Edmond off Bryant, between 2nd and 15th. Complete with multipurpose trails, covered pavilions, an adjacent baseball complex, performance stage, a pond and top-notch playgrounds, the park is perfect for picnics that linger, exercise and playdates. Fink Park is one of Edmond’s oldest parks, split in two by a creek and Fink Park Trail that leads to Hafer Park. North Fink Park has a pavilion and is a great place to park and enjoy the trail. Go down the hill and cross the bridge over the creek to find beautiful red rocks, perfect for free climbing and spotting creek and small forest creatures. Up the hill is where Fink Park South sits. This park features a colorful play structure, swings and pavilion. Fink Park is just east of Rankin and can be accessed off 2nd street or Park Place. Mitch Park is a spacious recreational area off Covell between Santa Fe and Kelly. The park offers endless opportunities for adventure with accessible playgrounds, an amphitheatre, programming and classes in the Multipurpose Activity Center, a volleyball court and disc golf course, the Mathis Skate Park, multi-use trails and plenty of space to explore. Stephenson Park, located off 5th and Littler, is home to the historic Rocket Ship slide, pavilion, playground, tennis, pickleball and basketball courts. Exciting updates and improvements coming soon! Bickham Rudkin Park, off 33rd between Boulevard and Bryant, invites all visitors, four-legged included. Dogs of all shapes, colors, and sizes can be seen at the dog park. Follow the trail and wind your way through a pollinator garden

and well-populated fishing pond that serves as home to turtles and a variety of wild birds. You’ll soon come upon the Whispering Heights Park, a favorite of locals with playgrounds, basketball and tennis courts. Beyond the park, you’ll find yourself surrounded by beautiful trees, large and small, in the Margaret Annis Boys Centennial Arboretum. This trail connects to Oklahoma Christian University’s Eagle Trail. In the summer, the Barnett Field Splash Pad, located off Kelly and Main, and the Pelican Bay Aquatic Center, adjacent to Hafer Park, are the cool places to be! The Splash Pad is free and open to the public while the Aquatic Center offers reasonable entry fees and specials. Edmond’s parks are exceptional and numerous. BIKE & HIKE The expanse of Edmond can be traversed by foot or on wheels using the trail system. With more than 40 miles of paved and multi-use trails, there are endless opportunities for exercise and exploration. Mitch Park Trail features a 2.8 mile paved outer trail with 1.8 miles of inner trails. The 1.5 miles of primitive trails can be accessed at various trailheads throughout the park. The lush forest offers shade on the Fink-Hafer Trail’s 1 mile path to Hafer Park. The park is split by a creek and red rocks offer climbing opportunities.

Hafer Trail offers a 1.7 mile ride through the park among towering trees. Hafer Park has a bit of forest, prairie and a pond to explore. Bickham-Rudkin Trail takes a loop around an urban pollinator prairie on it’s 1.25 mile trail which continues along a pond and Whispering Heights Park to connect to Oklahoma Christian’s 2.5 mile Eagle Trail. Arcadia Lake Park holds a 6.5 multi use trail used by mountain bikers, trail runners and hikers. The 2.5 mile Spring Creek Trail features dedicated cycling and pedestrian lanes as well as great views of the lake and lush fauna. The park is also home to a 6 mile equestrian trail with shoreline passes surrounded by mature trees. The Route 66 Trail, a project led by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, is part of the overall plan to complete a trail system around Arcadia. The trail offers two expansive lanes with plenty of room for cycling, walking, running, strolling or dog walking and periodic resting points with benches.

ARCADIA LAKE Edmond’s Arcadia Lake offers four full seasons of fun. Located just east of I-35 and only 5 miles from Downtown Edmond, Arcadia Lake is a great spot for a quick trip or an extended stay. Guests can enjoy picnics, camping, swimming, boating and water sports, disc golf, hiking, walking and biking. The environment around the lake has remained largely untouched to preserve nature and wildlife. With full RV hookups and primitive camping, Arcadia Lake appeals to a wide range of adventurers. Fishermen can bait and fish for bluegill, crappies, channel and blue catfish, large-mouth and striped bass. Heated and shaded docks are available for all season fishermen. The Spring Creek Trail consists of an eighteen foot wide path with dedicated lanes for cycling and running or walking pedestrians. The 3.1 mile pathway runs west from Spring Creek Park at Arcadia Lake to I-35. The trail can be accessed at the entrance of Spring Creek Park and on the Integris Health Edmond’s campus. Need some gear to enjoy the lake? UCO’s Outdoor Adventure Recreation Center offers a fleet of kayaks, canoes, stand up paddle boards, and mountain bikes for rentals and individual or group instruction.

Witness bald eagles display their majesty at the annual Eagle Watch, taking place the first weekend in January. Visitors will be charged by car and are encouraged to dress warmly. Edmond Center Court is a partnership between the City of Edmond and Edmond Public Schools, featuring 24 outdoor courts, including two center championship courts, and six indoor courts for use by the school district, the community for leagues and classes and visiting tournaments. Edmond 66 Softball Complex consists of four softball fields, a children’s playground and concession stand. The complex is Route 66 themed, offering nostalgia and a casual place for coed and league play. Solid Rock Basketball is a single, all-inclusive and first-class facility that offers basketball training, leagues, tournaments, camps and court rentals. Arctic Edge Ice Arena is an indoor ice rink with public skate sessions, hockey and figure skating lessons.
