Carter House The Carter House is a Federal-style brick farmhouse built by Fountain Carter in 1830. As the Battle of Franklin waged around the home, the Carter family and many others hunkered down in the basement. Tour the museum, the house, and the grounds to understand the significance of that fateful day in 1864. Suggested: Be sure to walk in the bullet-riddled farm office that still stands.

Natchez Trace Parkway Bridge The historic 444-mile Natchez Trace Parkway winds past Franklin and Leiper’s Fork on its course from Nashville to Natchez, Mississippi. One of the most popular stops along the Natchez Trace Parkway in the iconic double arch bridge and Birdsong Hollow (milepost 438) just outside Franklin. Drive across the bridge and take in the scenic views! Suggested: Up for a walk or hike? Head to nearby Timberland Park.
