SURROUNDING TOWNS

Hi frens! I’m Dumbledog (you can call me Dumble), and I want to show you around my city: Greenville, South Carolina! There’s a whole lot to do, see, and sniff, so come with me and I’ll show you my favorite digs (pun intended).

My new pawsonal favorite place is Unity Park, where I can frolic, roll, and meet new people to pet me. There’s plenty of greenspace to run on, bridges to cross, and a splash pad to play in when it’s hot. (That one’s for kids only, but I like to watch the water fun!) My hoomans like it because Southernside Brewing Co. and The Commons (think tacos, coffee, baked goods, burgers, and beer…drool) are next door, and they love doggies like me—as long as I stay on my leash!

After playing in the park, it’s easy for us to hop right onto the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail. I love walking up and down the trail wagging my tail at the bikers who go by (too fast to chase!). Sometimes we get to stop at Swamp Rabbit Café & Grocery and I get my own pup-cup filled with dog-friendly “ice cream.” It’s my favorite treat on summer days! Sometimes my mom or dad will go inside to shop for groceries while I stay outside and keep an eye out for that mystifying swamp rabbit. Let me know if you see it!

One place I never miss a chance to go inside is the Mast General Store in downtown Greenville. They love it when I come inside and sniff around! They have clothes, camping gear, and tons more for my people, and they have a lot of stuff for me, too. My dad tried to buy me booties, but I talked him into a new chew toy instead. (Who am I kidding? I barked at him!) Anyway, all along Main Street, there are plenty of stores that keep bowls of fresh water outside so I can always get a drink.

Sometimes my hoomans want to get something to drink, too, but I want to run around and play with my pals. The perfect place for both of us is the Unleashed Dog Bar. My hoomans can get a draft beer from the bar while I get my zoom on playing with other pups in the fenced play area.

After that, if I’m feeling a little fancy (we all have our moments!), I love going to Paw Paws USA to shop. They have harnesses, leashes, bandanas, and more—all made right here in the U.S. of A. They’ll even personalize your new collar! My mom got me a green one that says “Dumbledoo” on it. I wonder if she knows that’s not my name?

But you haven’t really seen my city until you visit Falls Park on the Reedy. I stay on my leash like a good dog, but I can’t help barking at the ducks under the Liberty Bridge—they quack me up! This park is the best because there’s lots of shade, and nature, and sticks and stuff, and there’s almost always a fun event going on.

By the way, you know how sometimes our hoomans don’t know where we’re allowed to go until we get there? Tell them about BringFido. Did you know their HQ is right here in Greenville? You can use BringFido’s website to figure out the places you’re allowed to visit and know in advance how dog-friendly it is. Their website is full of pet-friendly events, activities, hotels, and more.

Now you know why I love Greenville so much, and why you will, too. Trust me, your tail won’t stop wagging the whole time you’re here!
