ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICT

Nestled among impressive historic architecture, Hagerstown’s Arts and Entertainment District boasts beautiful performance spaces, art galleries, wonderful restaurants, museums, education centers, and more. The Foundry Pop Up Shop is new to the A&E District with local art of all types.

HAGERSTOWN CULTURAL TRAIL

The Hagerstown Cultural Trail connects two of Hagerstown’s most popular destinations - the downtown Arts & Entertainment District with our Museum of Fine Arts in City Park. With public art experiences, gathering spaces, and other amenities along the way, the trail has already become a destination for visitors. It’s been called the newest jewel in Maryland’s crown!

MARYLAND THEATRE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER

The Maryland Theatre anchors Hagerstown’s A&E District on S. Potomac Street. Built over 100 years ago, the grand theatre is home to the Maryland Symphony Orchestra and hosts a variety of performances, concerts, comedians, children’s shows, recitals, and stage shows each year.

MARYLAND SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

Hagerstown is the official home of the Maryland Symphony Orchestra Under the baton of Music Director Elizabeth Schulze—whom the Washington Post calls “a superb conductor”—the MSO is a firstclass orchestra of exceptional artistic quality.

WASHINGTON COUNTY ARTS COUNCIL

The Arts Council supports local and living arts. The Council has rotating monthly gallery exhibits and a gallery gift shop located in the heart of Hagerstown’s A&E District. The shop features unique pieces by local artisans and craftspeople.

WASHINGTON COUNTY MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS

The Museum of Fine Arts is the centerpiece of Hagerstown’s beautiful City Park This distinctive gem is one of the finest small museums in the nation and features a diverse permanent collection that includes works that span from the great Masters to American Impressionists and modern art. The museum is free of charge and is a destination for those interested in fine arts and art education. The museum offers studio art courses, lectures, concerts, and traveling exhibits.

Artisans Of South Mountain

The Pleasant Valley area of South Mountain is home to a wealth of professional artisans working within this scenic region. Currently there are 16 fine artists in the network, and boasts nationally acclaimed artisans such as van Gilder Pottery in Boonsboro, and several jewelers, woodworkers and metalists.
