PLACE S T O WAT CH
THE SUNSET Sunsets combined with the charming surroundings of Lake Norman create a magical end to the day. Here are some of the best places to see one.
8
Visit Lake Norman
ON THE LAKE The best way to see the warm sunset is on Lake Norman itself. There are several marinas for people to dock their boats or rent one for the day. If you’re seeking an alternative to a boat, Aloha Paddle Sports offers a sunset paddle tour. This 90 minute guided tour is a local photographer’s favorite because of the picturesque landscape. If you don’t want to bring your camera on the water, not to worry, pictures of you and your group are included in the price of the tour!
AT A PARK Take in the gorgeous scenery at Ramsey Creek Park. The park’s 3 picnic shelters make for a soothing place to have a picnic with friends and family before the sky falls dark. This 43.7 acre waterfront park also features a swimming beach, dog park, boat launch access, docks, fishing piers, and scenic nature trails.
recommend Split Rock Trail (1.15 miles) or Buzzard Rock Trail (0.3 miles) for the best views of the lake. If you don’t want to hike, there is a pier and picnic areas where you can go to take in the views. All of the parks open at dusk and close after sunset.
AT A RESTAURANT A waterfront restaurant boasting beautiful views of Lake Norman is Hello, Sailor. Sip one of their signature cocktails at their tiki bar or enjoy fantastic food on their multilevel patio. Both patios seem to transport you to a paradise by the lake. North Harbor Club features a patio that allows diners to experience breathtaking views of the sunset. For those who want to travel via boat, they offer a “dock-and-dine” service.
If you’re looking for a breathtaking sunset with an “island feel,” look no further than Jetton Park. This park is known for its sunning beach, bike and walking trails, picnic areas, and garden. Jetton Park is a wonderful place to spend the end of your day.
For a waterfront restaurant that showcases Lake Norman from every dining room, get a table at Port City Club. It’s fully enclosed patio is perfect for watching the sunset year-round, but during the summer, we love their gorgeous outdoor patio.
If you want to squeeze in some exercise while rewarding yourself with a sunset, visit the Latta Nature Preserve. The preserve is a 1,343acre park that runs along Mountain Island Lake and has many hiking trails perfect for walking along the lake as the sun goes down. We would
Nothing eases the mind like watching the daylight fade over the water. For a chance to be featured, show us your favorite spot to watch the Lake Norman sunset by tagging us @VisitLakeNorman & using the hashtag #capturelkn! visitlakenorman.org
