PUBS,,, INNS AND SUNDAY LUNCHES
We’re so lucky in Lancashire Not only do we have some of the most scenic coast and countryside, an abundance of pretty villages, cultural and heritage attractions, we’re also home to the finest food and drink, and some of the best pubs, inns and Sunday lunches in the UK.
Lancashire pubs feature in the prestigious Top 50 Gastropubs 2018: the multi-award-winning Freemason’s at Wiswell is the county and North West’s highest listing at number 4 and The Cartford Inn, in Little Eccleston, is our newest entry at 40. We’ve also got some fantastic pubs and attractions to tempt you out for Sunday Lunch, places like the Eagle & Child in Ramsbottom named Best Sunday Lunch by Observer Food Monthly and listed in the Best 50 Sunday Roasts in the Independent newspaper. Whether you’re in search of a quiet read with a pint of craft ale, a great Sunday lunch, a family celebration or relaxing weekend in one of our pubs and inns with rooms, there’s something to suit everyone and every occasion. From elegant short breaks at Michelin-starred Moor Hall to Sunday lunch at The Whitaker; from canal-side hospitality at Guys Thatched Hamlet, to wining and dining in the historic and stately Samlesbury Hall; you’re never far from a place and people to make you feel right ‘at home’. We’ve got award-winning gastropubs, pubs to reward a good walk, pubs and inns with awesome views and equally stunning rooms, places that are family-friendly, dog-friendly, cycle-friendly but above all people-friendly; our pubs and inns are at the heart of our community, part of our culture and we’re proud to have a reputation for a welcome that’s second-to-none.

he bar at The Royal Hotel is right in the middle of the building, exactly where it should be. It is also exceptionally well stocked with real ales. Again, just as it should be. There’s always at least two Bowland Brewery ales on the bar along with a couple of guest ales usually from local breweries. Pop in for a drink, and perhaps we can tempt you to dine with us too!

THE NORTH’S #1 DESTINATION FOR A ‘BEER-CATION’
L
ancashire’s ground-breaking Holmes Mill development has won CAMRA’s award for Britain’s best pub conversion. The ambitious conversion of a Victorian Mill into a mixed leisure and retail destination incorporating brewery, beer and food halls and hotel has really put the attractive market town of Clitheroe on the map. Original beams and joists, exposed brickwork and even the original mill wheel have all been preserved in an innovative venue that combines a Bavarian-scale beer hall with a brewery, restaurant, food hall and hotel. With 42 hand-pull pumps on the 105ft and 8 inches long island bar – one of the longest in Britain – the beer hall showcases a minimum of 24 cask ales at any one time. Six core Bowland Ales from the brewery next door are a permanent fixture on the bar, but the rest change on a weekly basis. Casks are tapped on a Wednesday and ready to pour on #NewBeerThursday – something of a regular feature among local ale aficionados. A number of ‘Beer Bibles’ listing all the available beers along with tasting notes are strategically placed on the bar and the knowledgeable staff are happy to advise on tastes and styles and offer free tasters.
