Incentives for Free Independent Travellers (FIT)
€ 3.5 Million Budget The Malta Tourism Authority is committed to incentivise free independent travellers to choose the Maltese Islands for their next trip. This Scheme forms part of the Malta Tourism Authority’s recovery efforts aimed specifically at targeting Leisure Tourism.
01. Introduction

Through this Scheme, the Malta Tourism Authority shall incentivise independent travellers visiting the Maltese Islands for a minimum of 3 nights to book their holiday stays in 5*, 4* and 3* hotels directly. MTA will be assisting the participating 5*, 4* and 3* hotels as follows: • €100 per person on every booking in a 5* Hotel. • €75 per person on every booking in a 4* Hotel. • €50 per person on every booking in a 3* Hotel. Visitors to hotel properties in the island of Gozo will get an additional 10% value on the above incentives. The Scheme is aimed to enable participating stakeholders to kick-start the attraction of tourism inflows by 1.1. Duration of the Scheme Scheme to commence for tourists arriving as from June 2021 until full take up of allocated budget. 1.2. Designated Authority This Scheme is administered by the Malta Tourism Authority. 1.3. Budget This Scheme has a total allocated budget of €3,500,000. It is estimated to positively impact the attraction of more than 35,000 tourists with final figures being determined on the basis of the mix between 5*, 4* and 3* clients.
02. Terms & Conditions 2.1. Each hotel shall be allocated with a budget commensurate with the number of licensed beds. 2.2. Proof of booking is to be provided by the hotel property by submitting a copy of the CRM booking data. 2.3. The scheme is limited to free individual travellers. 2.4. Participating hotels must match the incentive amount granted by MTA. For sake of clarity a guest, booking in a 5* hotel (via direct reservation system) will benefit from a total of €200 (€100 MTA incentive + €100 hotel incentive) per person per booking to be spent on accommodation, food and beverage and other services within the hotel property. 2.5. Visitors staying at a hotel property on the Island of Gozo will benefit from an additional 10% value over and above the existing incentives. 2.6. Participating hotels will be required to present a marketing plan promoting the Scheme for MTA’s prior approval.

2.7. The above scheme is independent from any other support provided by the Malta Tourism Authority throughout the year 2021. 2.8. This incentive Scheme, will be managed by the Malta Tourism Authority Head Office directly.

Timeframe for submission is from 9th April till 16th April 2021. Late submissions will not be considered. Final allocation of funds will be established after closing of registration period.
03. Monitoring 3.1. The Malta Tourism Authority will present an overview of the Scheme data and statistics once the budget capping of €3,500,000 has been reached. The scope of this exercise will be to assess the level of support granted to 5*, 4* and 3* hotels.
