CONVENTIONS MALTA M.I.C.E. MARKETING SCHEME 2021
INTRODUCTION
The objective of this Marketing Scheme is to assist MTA Licensed Destination Management Companies and Hotels with their M.I.C.E. marketing efforts throughout 2021. Support will be extended towards the following activities:
Staff Training specific to M.I.C.E.
Independent* Events & Workshops
Brand enhancement and advertising
Organisation of Fam Trips & Site Inspections

Scheme beneficiaries include: Destination Management Companies (including Quality Assured) Four and Five-Star Hotels The applicant/s' primary area of business should be meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions. 1.1. Duration of the Scheme Support will cover initiatives taken place between 1st January and 31st December 2021. 1.2. Designated Authority The scheme is administered by Conventions Malta within the Malta Tourism Authority. PAGE 01
2.1. A contribution of up to €4,000 will be granted to those applicants engaging in initiatives to promote their services and products throughout 2021. 2.2. Quality Assured Destination Management companies will also be granted €1,180 as part of their yearly benefits. This allocation can only be utilized for independent events and workshops (live or virtual). 2.3 Reimbursement is calculated on a 50:50 basis between the applicant and Conventions Malta (e.g. If cost of activity incurred by applicant is €3,000, invoice for claim addressed to Conventions Malta should total to €1,500).

3.1. Applicants are required to register interest in this scheme by applying through this online form. 3.2 Submission deadline is close of business on Monday 28th June 2021. 3.3 The form will also request for applicants to provide a short description on the initiative/s applied for: Initiatives taken place in Q1 & Q2 Initiatives planned for Q3 & Q4 3.4. Support under this scheme is subject to approval and is awarded at the sole discretion of the MTA.

4.1. Applicants must be in possession of a valid MTA license and have no outstanding arrears with the Authority. 4.2. Funds will be allocated to registered applicants only. 4.3. Allocation per company can be used to cover more than one event if the value of support remains at the stated allocation per category. 4.4. The Conventions Malta Trade Marketing Scheme is a scheme extended to trade via the provision of a marketing contribution. VAT element will be included or excluded whenever applicable & in accordance with local regulations. 4.5. Each applicant can utilise the allocation of €4,000 to be split as follows:

4.4 A detailed summary of activities that can be claimed are found in the separate ANNEX of this document. 4.5
Eligible 4 and 5 star hotels include those which offer meeting and incentive

4.6 Funding will be provided on a post event basis after MTA is satisfied with claim and supporting documents presented. 4.7 Only claims which are complete will be evaluated. 4.8 Unutilised funds cannot be carried forward to subsequent years. 4.9 Claims for participation cost at International Trade Shows (IMEX Frankfurt, IMEX America, The Meetings Show and IBTM Barcelona) and for workshops, networking events or other marketing initiatives (live) organised or attended by Conventions Malta (through EOI) will not be eligible for support. Participation costs are already subsidised by MTA and therefore cannot be included as part of the support scheme. Applicants can, however apply for other ancillary costs including flights, accommodation etc as specified in Annex.

5.1. In line with MTA's Tourism Recovery Plan, priority should be initially focused on the European markets with direct flight connections. Initiatives should also focus on those countries where flights are operational and available. (Subject to relevant changes/updates). 5.2. The above schemes are independent from any other support being provided by the Malta Tourism Authority throughout 2021.
