Other content includes a biographical account of Arthur Moore, journalist for "The Times" newspaper at the start of the war written by Keith Haines. Arthur Moore’s father was minister of St. Patrick's Church of Ireland, Newry. The experience of local women who served as nurses is also interpreted. From Ballinran, Kilkeel, Margaret Anderson joined up in 1916 and she was awarded the Royal Red Cross for service. An autograph book she kept, illustrated with drawings, poems and letters from injured soldiers that she nursed, was recently donated to the Museum. This book, with an introduction on the nursing career of Margaret Nurse Anderson, has been digitised and forms part of the resource pack. The experience and travels of another nurse, Molly Best from Jerrettspass, including her First World War service in Ireland, England, France and Egypt as well as on hospital ships across the English Channel, has been interpreted in a ‘comic’. This brings to life Molly’s wartime adventures as described in her diary, in an engaging and accessible format.
