ABOUT OKC
O N LY I N O KC Leave it to the locals to know the best of what Oklahoma City has to offer. We asked for a list of those onlyin-Oklahoma-City experiences. Here’s what the locals had to say.
”Make sure you walk around the Plaza District and check out the entire wall of street art behind the Plaza.” - S U S A N R I L E Y
4
WWW.VISITOKC.COM
Oklahoma City boasts an amazing amount of street art. From bridge tunnels and walkways to buildingsized murals, there’s always something to see around every corner. Plaza Walls is a rotating mural project. One wall changes every month, while the entire Plaza Walls alley changes during the annual Plaza District Festival in September.
Rain or shine, OKC gives you the ability to see art no matter the weather. Oklahoma was one of six cities awarded a creative placemaking grant, and Downtown OKC made proper use of the funds. Using Rainworks waterproof solution, 27 different poems are scattered throughout eight downtown districts. When dry, they are completely invisible and with a few rain drops, the art begins to come alive.
“The Make it Rain Poems are a favorite when you’re in Downtown OKC”
ABOUT OKC
STREET ART
– JALAINE SMOTHERS
WE HEART ART “The Dale Chihuly permanent exhibition piece at the Oklahoma Museum of Art is gorgeous and a must-see!” –LYDIA BUNGNER
At the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, visitors are greeted by a massive Dale Chihuly glass sculpture as they walk into the foyer, a not-so-subtle promise of what the third floor holds. But it’s the rooftop that locals flock to in the warmer months for the museum’s Art After 5 events. With admission being $5 on Thursday evenings, you can see all of the art among many other perks. And with one of the largest collections of Dale Chihuly, there’s many opportunities to take a selfie or appreciate the art – your choice!
“One of my favorite things is the art after 5 at the OKC Museum of Art during the summer! Great evening with music, art and drinks! The view is amazing from the rooftop!” - MARLA MOORE

ABOUT OKC
MEALS ON WHEELS OKC is a food lover’s dream, but what’s even more impressive is the food truck scene. Bleu Garten is a fun, outdoor venue with a rotating list of food trucks in Midtown. Another popular food truck park is Delmar Gardens, which hosts a myriad of trucks every weekend for you to visit while perusing the Oklahoma City Farmers Public Market. For the ultimate OKC food truck experience, there’s H&8th Night Market on the first Friday in June. More than 40 food trucks, live music, beer trucks and more line up along Hudson Avenue in Midtown.
“Head to Bleu Garten when the weather is nice.” –LACEY HAMILTON
HISTORY LESSONS Oklahoma has a storied past, and the Centennial Land Run Monument in Bricktown celebrates one of the state’s first moments. Located at the south end of the Bricktown Canal, these heroic figures are the largest series of sculptures in the world, consisting of 45 statues spread across a distance of 365 feet.
“In all my tour guiding of OKC, the Centennial Land Run Monument always leaves a lasting impression on everyone that I take there” – JUDITH TOOMBS BRUNCH LOVE Whether you are dining at the highly lauded Cafe Kacao, or having a musical morning at R&J’s Supper Club, OKC has got brunch covered. If you’re looking for mixing it up for brunch, R&J’s Supper Club is spinning records with a live DJ on the patio each Sunday from 12-5pm.
You have to eat at Café Kacao! It’s the #1 breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner cafe in Oklahoma! I frequent OKC restaurants and this one always takes the cake.” – MAGGIE BOND 6

“The DJ Brunch on Sunday’s is our favorite! The Shrimp and Grits is everything! “ – PA U L A M A R S H A L L
ABOUT OKC
DRINK SCENE OKC has an amazing cocktail and beer scene, but there’s one drink in particular that is an Oklahoma City staple. Featured recently in The New York Times, The Lunchbox at Edna’s Restaurant & Club is a drink that was made by accident. Today, it’s resulted in more than 1.7 million orders since the early 90’s. Equal parts Coors Light and orange juice mixed with a shot of sweet Italian liqueur amaretto, the Lunchbox is always served in one of Edna’s signature chilled mugs. Prefer to drink outdoors? The OKC Dodgers are a summer favorite and their “Thirst Thursday” night game drink discounts are a sweet deal. Located inside the west Oil Center Building off the Northwest Expressway, Junior’s has been around since 1973 and still embodies the spirit of that time from the lush red walls, the chandeliers and the sunken piano bar.
“If you’re in OKC you have to grab a lunchbox at Edna’s!” - TABBI BURWELL
“Dodgers games on Thirsty Thursdays are a must. $2 beers and sodas!” – TAY LO R L AW R E N C E
“If you’re looking for a special night out, Junior’s is a cigar/piano bar with a wonderful Brandy Ice!” – CRIST Y KSEPKA
BEEF COUNTRY “Be sure to check out the cattle auctions every Monday and Tuesday morning if you’re in town. Just the walk over the cattle pens is enough to make you forget you’re only 5 minutes from downtown.“ – SETH SPILLMAN
“Go to the original Nic’s for an onion burger. Get there early – there’s usually a line.” – CALEB EVERETT
Actor Colin Ferrell claimed in multiple interviews that the best burger he has ever tasted was found in Oklahoma City. We tend to agree with Colin and many others who have waited in line for Nic’s infamous Onion Burger. Featured in Diners, Drive In’s & and Dives, this 15-seat neighborhood gem is cranking out food six days a week and creating a fan base with everyone who dines in. Speaking of beef, get a true experience of the West just minutes from Downtown OKC in Stockyards City. Stockyard City is the home of the largest stocker/feeder cattle market in the world. Since its inception, more than 102,000,000 head of livestock have passed through the iron gates leading to the Stockyards operation.

Four exciting collections will be presented together, for the first time, in a survey of de Borchgrave’s innovative work. Along with these pieces, a series of kaftans highlighting Silk Road textiles will be included, as well as a newly commissioned costume inspired by a painting by Peter Paul Rubens, Portrait of Charlotte-Marguerite de Montmorency, Princess of Condé, c. 1610. Both the original costume and the Rubens portrait will be included in the exhibition. This exhibition is organized by Dixon Gallery and Gardens, Society of the Four Arts, Oklahoma City Museum of Art, Frick Art and Historical Center, and Artis—Naples, the Baker Museum.

ABOUT OKC
FILM ROW ASIAN DISTRICT Oklahoma City’s foodie scene is alive and well in the Asian District, where an influx of Vietnamese immigrants in the 1970s created a hub now known for its Asian fusion cuisine. Here you will find some of the best Asian restaurants in OKC, including authentic Vietnamese food that rivals any found this side of the Pacific. Grab a bowl of pho The Asian District is best experienced through food, and it’s hard to beat this traditional Vietnamese noodle soup. Favorites with the locals include Pho Cuong and Pho Lien Hoa. Eat beyond Asia The district’s culinary influences travel far beyond Asian cuisine. Be sure to visit Cafe Kacao for a Guatemalan-style brunch. Or grab a cup of joe and a vegetarian meal from The Red Cup, another café that perfectly captures the bohemian and ecclectic vibe of this district. Get your kicks on Route 66 The Milk Bottle Building, located at 2426 North Classen Boulevard along old Route 66, was built in 1930 and is an icon of the Mother Road in OKC. The 350-square foot triangular building is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Want to experience an up-and-coming district right in the heart of downtown? It’s now home to a mix of artistic businesses, locally-owned restaurants and more. Fun Food Starts Here Enjoy brunch, lunch or dinner, as well as live music and craft cocktails, at The Jones Assembly where the Instagram-worthy patios are a destination unto themselves. The tart is reminiscent of a familiar childhood breakfast treat, but oh so much better, and pairs perfectly with their Ca Phe Sue Sa Vietnamese Coffee. Relive the rad ‘80s at Flashback RetroPub With its vintage arcade games, Rubik’s Cube cocktail tables and ‘80s-themed karaoke, you’ll feel like you’ve gone “Back to the Future” at OKC’s only ‘80s-themed bar. Enjoy a drink and take on Mario, Donkey Kong, Qbert or any of the more than 30 arcade games. Leg warmers and Hammer pants are optional. Check out contemporary art Contemporary art is at the heart of the 21c Museum Hotel experience with rotating exhibitions and cultural programming, and it’s always free even if you’re not staying the night. EAT You are sure to find whatever your family is craving at one of Oklahoma City’s many locally-owned restaurants. With casual atmospheres and varied options on most children’s menus, families can have a fun night out for dinner anywhere in the city. You can start with an Oklahomaoriginal: the onion burger. Head to Tucker’s Onion Burger for one of the best burgers in town. If you’re really hungry, order the triple patty “Mother Tucker” and top it off with a milkshake. Another family favorite, particularly for older kids, is The Mule in the Plaza District, where the classic grilled cheese is flipped upside down. Try the Macaroni Pony with pulled pork barbecue, macaroni and cheese on jalapeño cornbread. You’ll never look at grilled cheese the same again. For dessert, walk down the street to Pie Junkie for a slice of freshly made pie that’s made with lots and lots of love. You can’t go wrong with anything in the case, but S’More, with a thick layer of homemade marshmallow and graham cracker crust, is a favorite. If ice cream is more your thing, go across
the street to Roxy’s Ice Cream for a hand dipped cone, ice cream sandwich or root beer float. Hometown favorite, Earl’s Rib Palace is another good choice. Try their famous ribs or pulled pork and then finish off your meal with homemade cobbler. Food-truck-turned-brick-and-mortar restaurant, Mutt’s Hot Dogs makes the classic hot dog unique with a large variety of toppings, as well as a choice of classic beef, bison, duck or chicken links. Another Oklahoma-based favorite is Hideaway Pizza. Locals love their pizza and it’s ranked as one of the best pizza places in the city by TripAdvisor. Want gluten free food and desserts? Green Goodies in Classen Curve bakes up outstanding gluten free and vegan cupcakes, plus offers a lunch menu featuring wraps and salads. Cafe do Brasil, a Brazilian restaurant in Midtown, has many gluten free options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Fit Pig is a grab and go restaurant in Automobile Alley offering healthier, seasonal fare with many gluten free and vegan options.

NATURE Looking to get back to nature? You can actually pull that off while in Oklahoma City. Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge on the far west side of the metro is 1,000 acres of hiking, fishing, birdwatching, and communing with nature. If you’re patient and quiet, you can usually spot whitetail deer, beaver, egrets, cormorants and hundreds of species of migratory birds and waterfowl. It’s also a popular spot for kayaking, with rentals available from the Lake Overholser Boathouse. On a smaller scale, Martin Nature Park at 5000 W. Memorial—the northern edge of Oklahoma City proper— features 144 acres of grassland, trees, birdwatching, and smaller indigenous wildlife. Relax on the 2.5 miles of hiking trails, and be surprised by how quiet the city can be in the middle of the city.
ACTIVE OUTDOORS The Boathouse District is home to OKC RIVERSPORT, and it’s within walking distance of Bricktown hotels. In addition to the beautiful setting, including stunning architecture and a walking-running-bike path along the river, you can enjoy kayaking, zip lining, rowing and paddle boarding. There are activities for every age, and nearly any equipment you would need is available for rent—by the hour or day pass. The Boathouse District trails and river lead directly to the Lake Overholser Boathouse, with even more outdoor activities, like a climbing wall, and easy access to Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge. If skateboarding or BMX is more your thing, the metro features three skate
parks, including Mat Hoffman Action Sports Park, with an 11-foot half pipe and a 10-foot oververt pocket, among other obstacles and challenges. Lake Hefner has long been a destination for the metro’s fitness crowd, with trails for biking, running, in-line skating or a casual walk to take in a sunset. The lake features sailing and kitesurfing, as well as one of the state’s largest public golf courses. For the serious biker or runner, Oklahoma City has a network of ten interconnected trails that lead to nearly every part of the city, a total of 80 miles of non-motorized trails. An interactive map is available at okc.gov to help you plan your outing.

DINING AL FRESCO Just want to sit outside and soak up the sun or take in a sunset? Several area restaurants feature outstanding patio dining and drinking. Red Rock Canyon Grill is a local favorite, in large part due to a spacious patio on the edge of Lake Hefner. Enjoy some local Southwestern flavors while taking in one of the best views of the sunset in the metro. The buzz of the city more your thing? Try the expansive patio at Flint in the Colcord Hotel. The view is stunning, as you’re seated at the base of the Devon Tower. Cuisine is comfort food with a southwestern twist, and you’re right across the street from Myriad Gardens if you fancy an after-dinner stroll. In Midtown, you can choose between Packard’s New American Kitchen and Café do Brazil for rooftop patio dining. Both have stellar views of the city skyline, but Packard’s features American cuisine, while Café do Brazil, unsurprisingly, features the cuisine of Brazil. Both have excellent, fullservice bars.

FUN OUTDOORS The Myriad Gardens, our 15-acre public park in downtown, is home to beautiful plants from all over the world, and it’s also the venue for a variety of outdoor, warm weather fun. Every year on Sunday evenings, the Gardens host a Twilight Concert Series from June through August. Local and regional acts show up, and the shows are free for all ages. Bring a blanket and a picnic basket. On Wednesday evenings in June and July, you can catch a movie outdoors as well. Sonic sponsors summer movie nights with films for the whole family. Want a different view of the city? If you’re not afraid of heights, head over to the Wheeler District and ride the Ferris wheel. Located on the southern bank of the Oklahoma River, the Ferris wheel, which used to sit on the Santa Monica Pier, now provides a beautiful view of downtown. Food trucks are usually out at Wheeler Riverfront Plaza, so you can purchase a $10 day pass and make an evening of it, including multiple rides. In addition to the arts festivals in the metro, several of the districts host monthly events that feature live music, food, activities and retailers. The Paseo Art Walk is the first Friday of the month, beginning at 6pm. Live on the Plaza is the second Friday of every month from 6-10pm. H&8th Night Market began as a food truck event every month in Midtown, but is now an annual celebration. On Friday, June 1, 2018, H&8th returns, and as it has the past two years, it will host the Oklahoma City Pro-Am Classic, a bicycle race in the heart of the city. Vendors, food trucks, live music, and tons of activities are on the schedule for this event, which is in all likelihood, our city’s biggest annual party.

COCKTAIL TIME By Greg Horton
Oklahoma City has been part of the national “craft cocktail” movement, so it’s pretty easy to find creative new combinations of flavors and ingredients, and still be in a great bar that serves up classics like an Old Fashioned or a Manhattan.
ROSE ROCK AT PONYBOY Yes, the bar’s name is a reference to the classic novel “The Outsiders” by Oklahoma native S.E. Hinton, and the cocktail is named for one of our state’s geological marvels, the rose rock. It’s a gin-based cocktail with spicy Grenadine and lemon, so a little sweet, a little tangy and a lot delicious.
WILD HARE AT THE H U TC H O N AV O N D A L E The Hutch is known for their whiskey selection and their outstanding bartenders. The Wild Hare is a rye48

based cocktail with ginger liqueur, lemon and local honey. It hits all the notes: sweet, sour, savory and amazing.
MOVIN’ TO THE COUNTRY AT MARY EDDY’S Oklahoma has some of the best peaches in the world. That is no exaggeration, as you’ll discover when you try this Bourbon-based cocktail at Mary Eddy’s at the 21c Museum Hotel. Served with peach syrup, peach bitters, meringue and lemon, it’s a sweet, Southern indulgence that will remind you of summers in the shade of a wraparound porch.
BERRY SPRITZER AT SCRATCH IN THE PAS E O Oklahoma City's newest craft cocktail bar combines made-in-Oklahoma Indian Grass Vodka with blackberries,
Aperol, and white wine to create a zippy refreshing spritzer named for one of our legendary coaches.
AMBASSADOR SLING AT O BAR The view from the rooftop bar of the Ambassador Hotel is best enjoyed with this gin-based cocktail, mixed with pineapple, pomegranate, Benedictine and Cointreau. It’s simultaneously earthy, herbal, zippy and refreshing. How is that possible? No idea, but the view makes it worth the pondering while you sip.

BEYOND BOOZE
While drinking can be a pastime in itself, there are other activities that can enhance the sharing of drinks with friends. These Oklahoma City bars add a little something extra to make your night more memorable.
BRICKTOWN BIKE BAR You and 15 friends (or less) can choose to pedal around Bricktown and downtown on the pedalpowered mobile bar. Choose up to three stops at local bars—totally your choice—for a night of “exercise” and fun. You can even bring food along for the party.
EVENING MANTRA AT BRICKTOWN AC HOTEL At 5pm every day, the head mixologist at the AC Hotel performs the evening mantra. The AC brand does something at every property to localize their concepts, and in Oklahoma City, they’ve chosen a drum to represent our beloved Thunder, as well as local thunderstorm. Wine is poured from a traditional Portuguese/Spanish decanter, called a “porrone.”
LUDIVINE MIDNIGHT TOAST Want to get to know Oklahoma City a little better? Every Friday night at midnight, community leaders, cultural influencers, celebrities and interesting locals offer up a midnight toast at one of the metro’s best bars. There is usually a charcuterie tray just for showing up.
RING THE BELL AT MCCLINTOCK SALOON Located in the heart of Stockyard City, McClintock is an old school saloon and steakhouse. Once the bar fills up, anyone who rings the bell near the front door buys the saloon a round. If you’re generous, ring it yourself, but we recommend showing up late and letting one of the rowdy crowd buy you a “Welcome to OKC” beer or shot.

NEW BREWS By Greg Horton
Oklahoma City is in the middle of a “beermance.” Yes, beer has always been popular here, but new laws have led to an explosion in growth with more expected in 2018. The craft beer scene has never been healthier or more diverse.
ANTHEM BREWING C O M PA N Y Operating partner and head brewer Pat Lively likes to say he focuses on “creating traditional styles with New World flair.” What that means in practice is styles that aren’t just crafted for beer nerds, but are accessible to casual or session beer drinkers. The taproom is open seven days a week, and there are typically 4-6 seasonal or limited release beers on tap in addition to the core beers.
COOP ALE WORKS
The new kid on the block for now, Stonecloud features two Avery Brewing Company veterans, making some of the state’s very best beers. With a stateof-the-art taproom and an eclectic menu combined with the beautiful, historic Sunshine Laundry building as its home, Stonecloud is rapidly becoming the beer destination in Oklahoma City. Taproom is open seven days a week, with three year-round beers and a dozen “rotators.”
The pioneer in Oklahoma City craft brewing, COOP has redefined itself in recent years, but the core beers remain the same, and their following locally is unrivaled. Taproom is open Wednesday through Saturday, and there will typically be several unique creations as well as at least one seasonal and one limited release beer on tap.
LOCAL FAVORITES:
LOCAL FAVORITES:
Golden One. A Belgian-style Blonde Ale with fruit and spice overtones and solid balance.
Astrodog IPA. An incredibly balanced IPA, with tropical fruit, citrus, malt and pine. The low IBUs makes it an obvious session-able beer.
Uroboros Stout. A traditional stout with higher than average alcohol (8.5%) that’s nonetheless easy to drink. Tons of chocolate and roasted malt flavors in this one. Anthem IPA. In a world of IPAs that nearly scorch your taste buds, this refreshing, balanced IPA features citrus, dank hops and crisp mouthfeel.

LIVE MUSIC LOCALES By Greg Horton
Oklahoma City’s thriving live music scene is happening all over the metro, so it’s pretty easy to catch a show no matter where you are staying or playing. With the growth of three new venues in the past year, the menu of choices is incredibly eclectic and the venues range from small listening rooms to full-blown arenas.
ZOO AMPHITHEATRE
JONES ASSEMBLY
THE BLUE DOOR
Just as the name implies, this popular venue is outside the Oklahoma City Zoo. Bands tend toward nostalgic favorites, but the occasional upand-comer will show up for summer festivals, too. Bring a blanket and an ice chest to better enjoy the venue.
Part restaurant, part music venue, the Jones Assembly hosts smaller (less than 2,000 fans), hipper shows in Film Row just west of downtown. The restaurant is usually closed on show evenings, but the neighboring 21c Museum Hotel’s restaurant, Mary Eddy’s, serves excellent before and after food.
If you love Americana, folk, singersongwriter or young, promising acts, The Blue Door is the premiere listening room in OKC. With only 100 seats, you are mere feet away from some of the best local, regional and national acts available. Bring your own ice chest, too.
TOWER THEATRE
CHESAPEAKE ENERGY ARENA
THE CRITERION By far the largest music venue in Bricktown, the Criterion boasts an excellent line-up of regional and national acts. If the band draws 1,500 to 4,000 fans, the Criterion is where they land in OKC. A full bar is available during shows and there is plenty of before and after dining around Bricktown.
Uptown 23rd’s historic theatre is rising rapidly in popularity as a destination for up-close shows. Tower offers the most diverse lineup of musical acts in the city, both in the main theatre and in the studio room (30-40 max) upstairs. A full bar is available during shows.
The 18,000-seat venue is the home to the Oklahoma City Thunder, and to all the A-list acts that come through our city.

The city’s Midtown and Plaza districts are both filled with a variety of neighborhood shops frequented by locals such as Bad Granny’s Bazaar, Black Scintilla, Chirps and Cheers, DNA Galleries, Midtown Optical, Mode, Solare Shop and Trade Men’s Wares.
If the arts are more your thing, Paseo District might be the place for you. At the end of a row of art galleries you’ll find Betsy King Shoes. Betsy spent years working in the footwear industry and has established herself as a fashion expert in the city. Stop here for unique styles for everyday wear or special occasions.
NICHOLS HILLS AND CLASSEN CURVE For those prepared to spend a bit more for the finer things in life, there is Bebe’s, CK & Company, Gretta Sloane and Spencer Stone in Nichols Hills and Balliet’s or On A Whim at Classen Curve. These upscale retailers have perfected luxury shopping in OKC.
CHISHOLM CREEK A new mixed-use development on the north side, Chisholm Creek, brought in exciting new shops. The first Cabela’s location in Oklahoma is there, as well as high-end home shop Haus De Lux. ARTS
OKLAHOMA CITY MUSEUM OF ART Oklahoma City Museum of Art is the “crown jewel” of Oklahoma City’s art scene. The Dale Chihuly glass installation is a permanent fixture on the third floor, and rotating exhibits are held throughout the year on the first floor. This year, three major shows will be at OKC MOA. “The New Art: A Milestone Collection Fifty Years Later” is a celebration of the purchase of 154 pieces of modern art that the MOA’s predecessor purchased from the Washington Gallery of Modern Art in 1968. Runs through May 13. “Serenity of Madness” from Thai artist Apichatpong Weerasethakul presents a film installation with commentary on the sociopolitical climate of modern Thailand. This is the MOA’s first “film only” exhibit, and it runs March 31 to June 10. Belgian artist Isabelle de Borchgrave creates stunning fashion pieces from paper for “Fashioning Art from Paper.” The style is “trompe l’oeil,” meaning it’s meant to fool the viewer, and she covers clothing from the 16th century to Coco Chanel. Runs June 16 to September 9.

Both feature visual and performing arts, food, music and the chance to meet with and interact with artists from all over the world.

OKLAHOMA CONTEMPORARY
EXHIBIT C Exhibit C is a gallery and retail space in Bricktown that focuses on Native American art. The work of approximately three-dozen Native artists is regularly for sale at Exhibit C, and the venue will host two shows this year, as well. From March through the end of June, the “street art” of Yatika Fields, Hoka Skenandore and Josh Johnico will be the focus, and from July through October 31, a male and female artist from five tribes will display their work in the gallery space. 60

Oklahoma Contemporary offers what is likely the broadest array of art forms in the city. This year, the art space will feature Comix, a first-time show of Oklahoma comic artists, both established and chosen from an open call. The exhibit runs April 9 through 22, 2018. From June 1 to August 12, the fiber installations of Japanese artist Chiyoko Myose will be on display. The show is called Sojourning, and Myose uses her stunning, otherworldly fiber art to consider the experience of living as a “sojourner” in a foreign country.
ARTS
THE PERFORMING ARTS OKC Broadway brings Broadwaycaliber productions to Civic Center Music Hall, and coming this spring and summer are “The Book of Mormon” (April 24-29), “An American in Paris” (June 5-10) and “Les Misérables” (September 18-23). Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park is a local favorite. The company is now more than 30 years old, and this season will feature “Taming of the Shrew,” “Hamlet” and two modern pieces. Many of the shows are performed on the beautiful water stage at Myriad Gardens, and the season runs June through September. Lyric Theatre is another Oklahoma City institution, and this season’s schedule includes “Hello, Dolly” (July 10-15), and “Mamma Mia” (July 24-29). Some of the shows are at the Lyric facility in the Plaza District, and large-scale performances are at the Civic Center.

Comfortable and boring are not the same thing. This comfortable spot elevates diner classics to an artform. Get the chicken fried steak and eggs if you’re looking for a hearty start to your day.
Coffee lovers will be pleased to know that Syrup serves Stumptown Coffee in a variety of brews. A hot cup of java pairs perfectly with the decadent Red Velvet Waffle, which comes with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. Dessert for breakfast? Why not?

Oklahoma City’s brunch obsession is getting a little out of hand, but it’s hard to resist when so many of the city’s best restaurants are jumping into the fray. CAFÉ KACAO
Is that a line or a protest? Yes, Waffle Champion’s fans tend to be...fanatical about the restaurant’s delicious waffle sandwiches. If you’ve got an adventurous streak, you can’t go wrong with the chicken and waffles. Buttermilk marinated chicken is fried up crisp and then drowned in Tabascoinfused honey and sprinkled with crunchy leeks for a breakfast that is sweet, spicy and utterly irresistible.
Guatemalan hotspot Café Kacao is known for hearty fare with plenty of kick. Perhaps the most famous is motuleno—a vegetarian dish of corn tortillas filled with black beans and topped with spicy ranchero sauce, queso fresco, guacamole and a pair of eggs cooked to order.
PICASSO CAFE If you know you’re going to Picasso Cafe for brunch, get that reservation in as soon as possible. Start off with a mimosa and try the Scottish egg-style crab cake—an enormous sphere of sweet, tender crab meat surrounding a still runny egg yolk on a bed of pesto and chipotle hollandaise. It’s a sight to behold, but even that pales in comparison to the flavor.

Lunch
In some ways, lunch is the hardest meal to nail. It needs to be filling and tide you over until dinner, but not leave you sluggish and unable to move. Sometimes it has to be quick, but you don’t want to feel rushed, either. Most importantly, it needs to be delicious.
T H E H A L L’S P I Z Z A KITCHEN This restaurant started as a food truck which started as a family—the Halls. These wood-fired pies are great to share, but you can also get their mostpopular pizzas by the slice. Saturday Night, a pepperoni, sausage and basil pizza, is so-named because it’s what the family made on the weekend.
REVOLUCION TAQUERIA & CANTINA OKC is a Mexican food mecca and Revolucion (which shares a building with Sunnyside Diner) is worth a pilgrimage. Try any of the tacos or indulge in the slow-cooked goodness of mole rojo de pollo, a sweet and spicy chicken stew.
MUSEUM CAFÉ After drinking in the culture at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, why not sit down for a cultured meal at the Museum Cafe. No meal is complete without tasting the goat cheese kisses—creamy cheese, wrapped in phyllo dough and fried, served with tomatoes and balsamic reduction.
CHELINO ’S MEXICAN RESTAURANT Tex-Mex style cuisine is a meaty, cheesy, saucy delight and none do it better than Chelino’s. There are tacos, burritos and enchiladas galore, but if you’re looking to try something new, the carne guisada, with a choice of meats cooked in salsa verde, is a can’tmiss choice.
THE MULE Saddle up at the grilled cheese ranch known as The Mule and take a ride on the famed Macaroni Pony, combining barbecue pulled pork and three-cheese macaroni between slices of jalapeño cornbread. Welcome to flavor country.

BARRIOS FINE MEXICAN DISHES Barrios is taking Mexican cuisine to a whole new level with chef-driven dishes like wild mushroom-stuffed tamales and short rib enchiladas covered in mole negro.
HEFNER GRILL Enjoy watching the sun set over shimmering Lake Hefner at the Hefner Grill while devouring fresh seafood with an Oklahoma twist, like the shrimp and scallops enchiladas covered in an ancho cream sauce.

PAS E O G R I L L Romantic and intimate, Paseo Grill is the perfect spot to celebrate a special occasion. The gourmet menu’s highlight is the sautéed duck breast with a raspberry bourbon sauce. Speaking of bourbon, the well-stocked bar is famous for great cocktails.
IRON STAR Barbecue made for people who love fine dining is Iron Star’s specialty. Alongside ribs and brisket you’ll find a black-pepper crusted prime rib that will have everyone in the restaurant staring in envy.
DINING
Dessert
A sweet tooth is nothing to be ignored, especially when OKC has such wonderful options. Indulge in dishes that combine the sublimely sweet with the artfully made for every palate and every diet. Nothing caps off a meal like these desserts.
ROXY’S ICE CREAM SOCIAL Since starting as an ice cream truck, Roxy’s has been OKC’s go-to spot for high-end ice cream. This retro-themed parlor serves sundaes, cones and pints in a variety of delectable flavors, including at least one (honestly delicious) vegan option.
OKC's Premiere Dining Destination
PIE JUNKIE How does a restaurant that only serves pie stay in business? Stop into Pie Junkie and you’ll understand. Flavors change daily, but you can almost always get drunken turtle, with its chocolate fudge-like interior and bourbon caramel sauce on top.
P I TC H F O R K I N T H E PA R K During summer months, everyone at the Myriad Gardens stops by Pitchfork in the Park to sample this tiny takeout spot’s selection of homemade popsicles. Flavors go from mild to wild, including the spicy mango chile pop.
INGRID’S Many come to Ingrid’s for the German food, but it’s nearly impossible to leave without dessert. The cookies and cakes are legendary, but few items are as irresistible as the devil dog—two slabs of rich chocolate cake sandwiched around real whipped cream.
GREEN GOODIES Whether you’re vegan, staying away from gluten or none of the above, Green Goodies has cupcakes for every taste and every occasion. One especially eyecatching cupcake is called the Hostess, which looks like the classic convenience store treat, but tastes gourmet.
