Beyond wine and beer, Penticton and the surrounding region is renowned for our exquisite fruit crops due to the perfect growing conditions in the Okanagan Valley. As a result, the region is home to a growing number of cideries and craft distilleries.

Cideries

Over the past few years, the South Okanagan region has seen a significant and successful expansion into the cider industry. The Okanagan Valley as a whole, is recognized as a distinct region on the international cider stage. Many fruits are being used to make cider including pears, cherries, berries and of course, apples. Just like the wine, beer and spirits makers, our cider makers are constantly experimenting with various cider-making methods and fruit mixtures to showcase the bounty of the Okanagan fruit harvest.

Craft Distilleries

From handcrafted liqueurs to “one of a kind” vodka, gin and whisky, the craft distilling scene is growing. To be recognized as a craft distillery in BC you must not produce more than 50,000 litres of spirits a year, must use 100% BC agricultural products to produce the alcohol, and fermentation must be completed on site. This ensures that the distillers in BC are creative and innovative in their search for raw materials and flavours.
