Shawnee Oklahoma Visitors Guide 2016

Welcome!

Our community is rooted in the complex story of westward growth in our state and our nation. First settled by relocated Native Americans, our area became home to five tribes with rich traditions that carry on to this day. Our history is chronicled in one of the most stunning railroad stations in the United States and shared in a Native American Cultural Center. Our downtown reflects the bold visions that early leaders had for our growing City as a center of commerce for the region. Our optimism is evident not only in downtown but throughout the City. Our culture is rooted in the Southwestern traditions with events at the Heart of Oklahoma Expo Center as hosts to the International Finals Youth Rodeo and in our celebration of Trail Days each summer. We are a place where the future is as exciting as our history. We are a community of faith and values, a place of family and community and a place with optimism for the future.
