Aimee Bennett and Laura Freer VisitYork4Meetings

Welcome to the 2017 edition of the York Conference and Events Guide – the definitive guide to holding a successful event in York. As York enthusiasts, we are thrilled to present to you our fabulous city and the inspiring possibilities it offers as a destination for business events. York is one of England’s finest and most beautiful historic cities. Dating back to the Romans in AD71, York has long been a city of great importance and a meeting place for over 2000 years. Modern day York continues to thrive and has one of the strongest economies in the North of England. More than £800m of investment in the past decade has helped to transform the city into an international hub for science and technology, and a growing centre for enterprise, creativity and commerce. Old meets new in York’s cosmopolitan centre, where ancient medieval architecture and contemporary culture come together. The city’s historic charm is complemented by an abundance of diverse dining spots, quirky independent shops and modern bars, all contained within the magnificent circuit of 13th-century walls and overlooked by the breathtaking York Minster. In this guide, we will introduce you to the inspiring possibilities available for conferences, meetings and events of all sizes and provide you with details of our VisitYork4Meetings service. With a collective experience in professional conference organisation of over 30 years and in-depth local knowledge of the city and surrounding area, we are the official city conference bureau and your York event experts.

I have been holding the annual PCR Conference in York for over 10 years now and I choose York for various reasons, but mainly because of the amazing variety of unique venues, plus its accessible location on the East coast mainline. Even after 10 years I always seem to discover something different that I wasn’t aware of! I also get fantastic support from the team at VisitYork4Meetings, who are always on hand to advise me, when I need it. Helen Livesley | Primary Care Rheumatology Society
