Cose Belle d'Italia

The infinite beauty created over thirty centuries of history has instilled in the character of the Italian people an inexhaustible capacity to give life to things that evoke admiration, emotion and wonder in those who see them. In Italy today the artistic heritage handed down from past generations coexists happily – and blends magically - with a legacy of contemporary beauty consisting mainly of industrial products, which are particularly numerous in certain sectors (e.g. fashion and design), but featuring also creations of a strictly artistic nature. Due to the gradual impoverishment of the public sector and the simultaneous dwindling of private fortunes, in the years to come an enormous amount of this heritage is destined to be ‘released’ and sold off to foreign buyers. In Europe, America and Asia, in fact, there are wealth segments, both public and private, that regard beauty as an intrinsic part of the Italian identity, and today these beauty-lovers are coming to Italy in disorderly hoards and relentlessly taking away things that we Italians, perhaps out of some obscure form of jealous nostalgia, would rather remained rooted in our land forever. The entrepreneurial initiative “Cose Belle d’Italia” aims to intercept, albeit minimally, this flood of opportunity. The purpose of the project, in fact, is to channel financial resources to the acquisition, preservation, and valorisation of carefully selected products and specialities which, for the fact of being Italian and bearing the mark of Italian history, geography, culture, tradition and genius, are clearly recognised in any international context as beautiful, and therefore timeless, since they express values that are eternal. Motivated by the fact that such an incalculably large heritage exists in a country that appears to be incapable of safeguarding and valorising it, an investment programme was set up for purchasing Italy’s ‘beautiful things’ with a threefold goal. The initiative, in fact, aimed to create profit for investors, to valorise the assets themselves along with their Italian character and, therefore, the country of Italy, and, last but not least, to favour the personal gratification, of an ethical and cultural nature, of all those involved, in a context of regained national pride, unobtrusive but nevertheless real.

Cose Belle d'Italia was founded in 2013 with the aims of preserving made in Italy excellences and intercepting personalities with common passion for the Italian lifestyle. Since that moment, Cose Belle d’Italia Group has been growing vigorously and with its unchanged mission of valorising the extraordinary Italian cultural and craft heritage. Nowadays it aggregates 23 entities representing tradition, beauty and quality, and promotes editorial as well as experiential initiatives in culture, sport, food, design and fashion. The classical music magazine Amadeus, the shoes excellence Alberto Del Biondi, the publishing treasures FMR and UTET Grandi Opere, the flagship of the Italian boat industry and the arts bindery Arte del Libro entered Cose Belle d’Italia in 2014. The following year, Il Mondo Del Golf Today, Sci-Il Mondo della Neve and La Madia Travelfood magazines joined Amadeus into the editorial centre, new player in specialized journalism. Apreamare, symbol of the typical “gozzo” of Sorrento, and Antica Tostatura Triestina, pearl of the coffee tradition, also enter the Group. In 2016, with the creation of Industria Del Design and the architects’ hub Maestria, alongside the brands Nerocarbonio and Laverda Collezioni, already part of the Group, Cose Belle d’Italia consolidates in furnishing, locations design, apparel and innovative installations for high profile initiatives. The same year, the Group founds its production company Bel Vivere Events and acquires the long-established magazines Yatch Capital and Watch Digest. The Group grows further thanks to the entrance of Feletti, representing the chocolate Piedmont tradition. After three years, almost entirely dedicated to enhancing its companies’ portfolio and consolidating an efficient and innovative synergy model, Cose Belle d’Italia faces a determinant strategic phase for the completion of its mission: the move from financial holding to operative holding. For the future, big event formats development and internationalization and are among the biggest challenges of Cose Belle d’Italia.

Sorrento Apreamare is a historic brand of the Italian boating industry known for its typical “gozzo sorrentino”. The company was founded in Sorrento in 1849. It continued to pass down the shipbuilding tradition from father to son, making “gozzo” boats propelled by oars and lateen sails for decades. Motor propulsion was not introduced until after World War II. Thanks to the arrival of Cataldo Aprea in the ‘80s, the firm began to make progress in leaps and bounds as it established its unique style. The introduction of fiberglass in the construction of the hull and, later, of the variable geometry planing hull were the cornerstones. In few years, Apreamare together with the building contractor Salvatore Pollio, established itself as a brand of excellence globally. In 2001 Apreamare joined Ferretti Group: this fruitful partnership allowed the company of Aprea and Pollio families to grow in new markets, and continued until 2010. In 2005, Cataldo Aprea, designed new motor-yachts with flying bridge, retro rounded lines and windows: this was the birth of the Maestro series, a tribute to the master shipbuilders of Sorrento. In 2015, Cose Belle d’Italia, through its subsidiary Imbarcazioni d’Italia, signed a multi-year agreement for the development of the brands Apreamare and Maestro, in order to develop a plan including the launch of new models and the development of new markets.

Cremona In the 19th century Turin became a renowned centre for the production of chocolate, giving birth to the aromatized “diablotin” and “givu” chocolates. Within this experimental context, Carlo Birocchetto set up his chocolate-production company in 1882. Carlo transformed what was once a tiny chocolate laboratory into a highly respected international confectioner company. After the end of the First World War, Giuseppe Feletti acquired Birocchetto’s company changing its name to the current Feletti, growing its operations. In 1968 he opened a new plant production in Northern Italy, Pont–SaintMartin, Valle d’Aosta. Nowadays Feletti’s production relies on the most modern machineries and technologies fuelled by ongoing research & development efforts. Such investments enable the company to innovate its product portfolio whilst at the same time remaining loyal to its hand-crafted tradition of Birocchetto’s laboratory. Gianduiotti Azzurri, descendants of the old Turin workshop’s “givu” and symbol of the city renowned in Italy and abroad, are the flagship of the company’s broad product portfolio. Since 2012, Feletti, along with Sorini, a renowned brand characterized by a relevant commercial presence in international markets, is controlled by HDI Holding Dolciaria Italiana. Turin UTET publishing house is the oldest existing in Italy. Founded in 1791 in Turin, it sprang from the business of bookseller Giovanni Pomba, but the real “founding father” was his son Giuseppe. He had the intuition to combine the publishing, productive and distributive aspects together as in modern publishing houses. Giuseppe was responsible for many editorial projects that anticipated the country’s cultural needs; these include the first Italian illustrated periodical (Il Teatro Universale, 1834), the first Italian encyclopedia (L’Enciclopedia Popolare, 1841) and the first Italian language dictionary (first published in 1861). The goal of UTET is now as in the past to diffuse knowledge also among readers who are cultured but not specialised, through the publication of important authors. Today the mission of UTET Grandi Opere, in addition to maintaining the high quality of its publications, is to dedicate special attention to iconography and the editorial format, while the subjects covered refer mainly to general and humanistic culture. Icons of the tradition of UTET’s great works are the Grande Dizionario della Lingua Italiana by Salvatore Battaglia, the Dizionario della Musica e dei Musicisti by Alberto Basso, the Grande Dizionario Enciclopedico by Pietro Fedele and the collection of Classics comprising over 300 books. Since 2014, it is part of Cose Belle d’Italia, with the aim of further developing in the domestic and international markets.
