Q
uite an interesting edition and one that has sparked many conversations amongst us here! It's left many questions and certainly raised others. What I find interesting is listening to the variety of views about who a “Kingdom Man” is. As we've left some of our Writers to express their understanding and expectation of what it really means to be a Kingdom man, we also bring you interviews of some “Kingdom men” who are doing some great work out there. I also had my moment to ponder on the term “Kingdom Man” and for me, I love the fact that Jesus talks severally about the kingdom of God right through the gospels. There's something about it that tells me that it isn't about the person who has finally arrived at a destination but, someone who is well on a journey, like the rest of us. The key thing that stands out for me is awareness. A kingdom man is aware of what is expected of him… what God expects of him, what his family/society expects of him and very important what he expects of himself. He has goals, visions and aspirations. He realizes that God is his abundantly available Help” (Psalm 46:1) and because of this he can rest assured that all is well with him. He can be at peace with himself, his world and his King (Jesus Christ). In Matthew 6:33 Jesus tells us to “seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness…” He encourages us to make this priority. As Christians, we are citizens of the Kingdom of God and all that we do in ministry and in
life is our opportunity to expand and “build up God's kingdom” through our influence. We obviously consist of Men, Women and Children. We have therefore decided in this edition to honour and celebrate Christian men. We chose to use the term “Kingdom man” which is simply those of the male gender who belong to the kingdom of God here on earth. Jesus teaching His disciples to pray in Matthew 6:9-13 says, “This, then, is how you should pray: 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. This here is my brief summation. I now leave you, our Readers, with the same responsibility… to find out for yourself what a “Kingdom man” means to you… what are your expectations when you hear that descriptive term? As you read this edition, we would love to hear back from you about your thoughts on this edition. Why not consider getting a copy to bless the men in your life. Encourage them. Don't forget to enjoy the other sections on Male Grooming, Men's Fashion, and the book review on our Bookshelf and lots more! I would like to say a massive thank you to all our Columnists and Contributors – thank you for making this work. This was certainly outside of our comfort zone but you made it happen all because of the grace which God has bestowed upon us. Cheers, Lara.

Prostate Cancer Prevention It can be hard to give very specific advice on the prevention of prostate cancer as more research is needed in this area. So far though, research does suggest that adopting a healthy lifestyle – regular exercise and a healthy diet- may reduce a man's risk of developing prostate cancer. Men can pay attention to eating the following foods which may be protective when it comes to prostate cancer: · Pulses – Red kidney beans, black eyed peas and lentils · Green tea · Lycopene – found in cooked and processed tomatoes such as tomato paste, sauces, soups and purees · Selenium – found in Brazil nuts, sardines and wild salmon · Cruciferous vegetables ( Broccoli, cauliflower, Brussel sprouts, kale, watercress and cabbage)

Male Grooming By Lashana Inglis of Glamour Souffle
W
ith the increase of men caring about their appearance and norms around male grooming habits being challenged, it is no wonder that there has been an influx of male beauty products on the market of late. The most recent fad for men of all ages, colours and cultures has definitely been 'THE BEARD' The beard has been spotted by celebrities from Rick Ross to Brad Pitt the trend has been noted by ladies too and 'The Beard' has become a requirement to many women when ranking attractiveness and suitability. So fellas if you're thinking of growing a healthy beard here are my top tips from a few bearded gentlemen. 1. Moisturise!! Your beard like the hair on your head needs to be cared for properly. Using products on your beard that help to retain moisture and promote growth is paramount. 2. During the primary stages of growing your beard, do not shape regularly. Allow your beard to reach maximum growth before shaping. www.avitalwoman.com VITAL WOMAN
3. Comb your beard downwards. This tip prevents in growing hairs. 4. Do not wet your beard continuously. This makes your hair dry, brittle and hair will shed. 5. Do not clog your hair follicles with product as this stunts growth. There has been quite a buzz around BEARD BUTTER which is a new product to hit the market from my natural cosmetics company Glamour Souffle. The beard moisturiser has received rave reviews from men enjoying its ability to improve the texture of the hair and speeding growth. Beard butter will Stimulate hair growth Moisturise for a silky feel prevent in growing hairs contains natural aphrodisiacs making you irresistible to women. Who is a
Our Children And Education
Kingdom Man
·
My first thought when I got this topic was what is a “Kingdom Man” who is he? What does he look like, sound like, what should I expect from him? What qualifies him as a kingdom man? Is it the goodness of his heart or his godly works, or is it the grace and mercy of God? All these questions bounced around in my head as I thought about the topic.
·
Let me confess that I was rankled by the term and so hesitated to start my writing. I thought “here we go creating divisive terminology, why not just say “Christian Man”. Then again I thought what kingdom? Is this in reference to an earthly kingdom or a heavenly kingdom? But Christ does say “My kingdom is not of this world”. So then it must be the heavenly kingdom.
·
Eventually with the deadline fast approaching I interviewed some men and this is what I learnt about Kingdom men. First, the terminology is not biblical it is a word that has been coined by the Pentecostal movement and so it is open to different interpretations. Secondly the Kingdom of God is not gender specific therefore the term refers to mankind and not just man as in the male gender.
·
·
is Christ-like in his relationships, a servant leader, one who helps others selflessly. He guides, and leads by his actions. He is God's messenger, a true light in the dark. Then of course he could be a man with a bad heart and God in His grace and mercy deems him fit for His kingdom, an example of this is the sinner on the cross, when Christ was being crucified.
For this “Kingdom Man” God's will is his singular goal. He has a fear and reverence for God. Some biblical examples are Paul... It is no longer I that liveth..” Peter says “ye are strangers and pilgrims”, and naturally our Lord Jesus who says “my kingdom is not of this world”. Another example, also from the bible is David who exemplifies what true friendship and loyalty is, he was a man after God's heart. He always came back to God. Also he is dead to the world and all other Christians derive courage from his life. A Kingdom man is a covenant- keeper, he regards marriage as a covenant not a mere contract. He
·
At this point I was starting to feel that it was an unattainable goal for someone living in these times, then I thought about the fathers, mothers, husbands, wives, teachers, pastors, school administrators, kitchen staff, custodians, who I could call kingdom men, who I would celebrate because of their works, their selfless service, their loyalty, leadership and guidance. Then a seemingly obvious thought popped in my head, a Kingdom man's life points others to the kingdom of God.
·
So as I celebrate these kingdom men I am still left with the thought is this enough? Is this how God would qualify kingdom men? Will he be satisfied with our definition or is this term just a mere chasing in the wind. Something that only God can qualify us for. So are you like me still wondering or are you sure that you know. If you do then be sure to celebrate them, emulate their virtues, interact with them, and perhaps their lives can transform our lives and you and I can be Kingdom Men too.
