hen I thought about the best way to describe this edition… this is what I said to myself “it is an emotional one!” I say this because to start with, the stories shared have touched my heart in an unusual way. Stories about brokenness and pain but, as you can always expect from God, it all ends in victory which is the beauty of the God we serve. During the process of working on this edition, disappointments presented themselves but, as a relenting team, we refused to give in and together today we celebrate another edition! We watched how God gave us direction, merged our thoughts, turned things around which again goes to prove yet again that God is our Very Present Help. This edition is packed with stories of great turnarounds. Read about these amazing women and you'd be amazed at what God can do when we embrace what life may throw at us with faith in God and the determination to succeed. Isn't this the true story of Christmas? We were headed in one direction, God steps in by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, who took our place and died on the cross. We received Salvation in the place of condemnation – the greatest turnaround story of all times.

Be sure to celebrate life, celebrate yourself and celebrate each blessing that God has graced you with. This is a good time to spend some time reflecting on God's goodness to you and those around you. This is the season to give… give what you can; give of your time, give out of your resources, reach out and encourage somebody who has had a difficult time this year. Give, because God gave us His own Son when we never deserved it. God bless you as you walk in the steps of your heavenly Father. And for you, our dear Readers, some generous offers are in store for you… check out our Reader's Offer page, where we bring you some generous and amazing offers from selected businesses. 2015 awaits you with lots of exciting opportunities! Embrace it with faith, facing your fears and doubting your doubts. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy and Successful 2015! Cheers, Lara.

THE ULTIMATE MESSAGE

T

here is a Saviour who died in your place. His name is Jesus Christ. He died so that you might be set free! The world is always looking for something “ new . You don't need to try any new concept as you search for peace. Embrace the Prince of Peace Himself and He will give you the peace you have been searching for. A simple prayer is all it takes to accept the gift of salvation that God offers. Yes, it's that simple. Pray this prayer;

Heavenly Father, I believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ has been raised from the dead. I receive your Word, and I repent of sin. I renounce the past. Come into my heart, Lord Jesus. I receive your forgiveness. I receive the new birth. I am cleansed and washed in the Word and in the precious blood of Jesus Christ. Fill me with Your Spirit, in Jesus' name. Amen. Congratulations! Please look for a bible-believing church, where you can learn about the truth of God's word, so that you can grow in this new relationship with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I warmly welcome you to the Family of God! God bless you as you also share this good news of salvation with others.

VITAL DEVOTIONAL

A Visionary

– A fact you need to embrace about yourself in 2015. We were each created by God for a specific purpose and therefore, carry one vision or the other. We were all given the mandate in Genesis 1 verse 28, which is to; - be fruitful, - multiply, - replenish, - subdue and - have dominion This is the general vision we all carry within us, however for each one of us, God assigns some specific areas for us and gifts us with talents and His blessing to flourish in those areas.

baby grows within you, you begin to feel more and more uncomfortable – Why? You feel uncomfortable because the time of birth is drawing closer with each passing day. Faith with Works These types of “movements” and “feelings” are also experienced by a visionary. Sometimes you may find it difficult to express into words what you feel or sense about your vision but, as you continue to pray and push forward in your vision, God grants you more clarity. Certain things may not ring right with you, you may not be able to pin-point it but, you have a “feeling” that a particular move may not be right for you or for your vision.

I particularly like how The Message Bible puts it… He created them male and female. God blessed them: “Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take charge! God deposits a vision in you. Everyone carries a vision whether you are male or female. Our visions vary. Your vision could be to bring up godly offspring and so you are so passionate about being a stay-at-home Mum and dedicate your life to bringing up your children. Someone else could have a vision to save a community from poverty by investing in education. Another person might be passionate about building a hospital or a clinic, in a bid to improve medical services available to a community.

As you draw close to birthing your vision, you naturally sense that the time is near because pain kicks in. The same way the baby naturally gets uncomfortable in the womb and is determined to exist the womb. This is the same way your vision is determined to be birthed. Right through pregnancy, other parts of your body also prepare for the birth of the baby and the nurture. This is the same way your life moves in preparation for birthing your vision.

You are a visionary – what vision do you carry? As a Visionary, you are the carrier of the vision that God gave you. You can liken yourself to a pregnant woman.

Remember that for the woman who is about to give birth, there are several people who help her, this includes; medical practitioners, family members and/or friends. Progression - As your vision grows… As your vision grows, you might experience pain or discomfort but, this does not necessarily mean that your move is a negative one. Sometimes because you are being stretched out of your comfort zone, some adjustments are taking place. To be continued… LARA MFON

She feels every movement the baby makes, some of the movements create a sense of excitement and sometimes the movement can create pain. You have the built-in ability to sense sometimes when things are not quite right. As the www.avitalwoman.com VITAL WOMAN

Winterproof Your Skin

S

H E A L T H

ome people look forward to winter. My best friend looks forward to the freezing temperature, the fierce wind and snow. Not me. I am happy to hibernate and resurface when it is all over. I admire the snow from the comfort of my sofa. I have not mastered the art or science of running in the snow. On top of it all, I find the combination of icy winds and central heating harsh on my skin. At its worst, my lips bleed, my skin gets sore, flakes and itches. It is not pretty. Wintry weather can be harsh to all types of skin, not only very sensitive complexions. I believe skincare should be seasonal- a light lotion in the summer and a heavier balm in the winter to lock in moisture and protect your skin. According to Dr Sue Mayou, of the Cadogan Clinic, London, “the winter season is very drying to skin as there is less moisture in the air and what natural oil you do have in your skin can be blown away by the wind. Once inside, central heating is also very drying. That's why our skin feels much tighter in cold weather; but if you have sensitive skin, the dryness will lead to flaking and itching; if the barrier level is damaged you are much more likely to develop inflammation and bring on eczema. It's very important to hydrate the skin with the right type of cream” It is important to have a winter skincare regime. Using heavy creams won't do if you are prone to really dry skin. I change products every 6 months (autumn/winter and spring/summer) as my needs change with the seasons.

&

1. Exfoliate regularly. Dry, flaky skin can make the complexion look very dull. I recommend increasing the number of times you exfoliate the skin depending on your type: if you have dry skin you should exfoliate three times a week and for oily/combination skin you can scrub twice a week. Exfoliating helps to clear the dry skin and leaves your skin able to absorb moisture.

W E L L N E S S

1. This gorgeous little number contains 6 natural oils and butters designed to keep your lips moisturised and nourished. For £2.95 it is a steal. www.savonclaire.co.uk

2. Moisturise, regenerate and replenish your skin this winter. This product is so versatile. It can also be applied to hair after shampooing or used as a facial serum/massage oil/hair & scalp treatment. £4.60 for 30ml. www. akuawood.co.uk

2. Did you know hot water can dry your skin? Hot water, soaps, harsh chemicals and detergents can all aggravate dry skin. I advise people to shower in lukewarm water and use natural soaps to help lock in moisture. Apply a moisturiser all over the moment after getting out of the water, when the moisture content in skin is highest. 3. Look for products with oils and butters. I prefer a cleansing balm or oil. You can find reasonably prized cleansing balms and oils in shops. Look for products with natural oils (petroleum, paraffin and mineral oils are a no-no, they sit on your skin without doing anything because they don't contain any nutrients), essential oils, anti -oxidants and preservative free. They exist and are affordable too.

3. This light toner contains Geranium floral water, Lavender & Grapefruit essential oils to balance and brighten the skin and Aloe Vera to hydrate and soothes the skin. £17.99 for 150ml. www.louloubelleskincare.co.uk

Precious is the person behind www.etieno.co.uk, a skincare brand for post cancer skin. As a cancer survivor, she is passionate about helping people look and feel better during and after treatment.

4. Consider swapping your toner. Products containing alcohol can dry your skin. Witch hazel or floral water is gentler. 5. Finally don't forget your diet. Try to eat a balanced diet. Essential fatty acids such as omega 3 are good for general health, and may help play a role in supporting the skin. The best source of Omega 3 in the diet is oily fish, such as salmon, mackerel, fresh tuna, sardines and herring. If you are not a fan of fish you should consider nuts and supplements.

Have a great winter. (I hope it stays sunny) Precious Jason

HEALTHY LIFESTYLE CHOICES

Eat, Drink and Be Healthy This Christmas Did you know that the average person munches their way through about 6000 calories (yes, you read that correctly) on Christmas day, gaining 5lbs (2kg) over the festive season? With the festive season almost upon us, how do you enjoy yourself and yet survive all that food? In this article I'll be sharing handy, practical tips to help preserve your waistline without dampening the festive spirit. 1.

2.

3.

Not all fat is bad. Just watch how much you eat and the quality of the fat you eat. Trim the fat content of your meal by taking the skin off turkey and other poultry before eating as 80% of the fat in poultry is found in and under the skin. In addition, watch how much fat or oil you use in cooking. Remove any visible fat from meat before cooking and crisp in the oven or microwave instead of deep frying. Remember, too much fat equals lots of calories which translates into weight gain. Fill up on vegetables. Most of us know about the benefits of vegetables but don't believe in them enough to eat adequate amounts of them! Vegetables are packed with phytochemicals and antioxidant vitamins and minerals which have been shown to protect against heart disease and cancer. Additionally, vegetables are naturally low in calories and high in fibre and count towards your daily recommended five portions of fruit and vegetables. A portion is roughly the equivalent of a cupped hand or a cooking spoonful. Don't overcook your vegetables and aim to have a variety with your meals over the festive season.

smaller plate and eating slowly. Rather than focus on food, remember that the festive season is also about people, interaction, laughter and fun. 4.

Dessert matters Desserts tend to be the downfall of many so consider having smaller portions of high-calorie desserts or make up for eating a calorie-laden dessert by watching what you have as a main course and skipping a starter. Fruit is a brilliant dessert option and for instance can be used to create the most delightful and refreshing fruit salads that will have you asking for more and count towards your 5a-day target. If you suffer from diabetes, remember to pay particular attention to your serving size as too much fruit in one go can raise your blood sugar levels.

5.

Get your dancing shoes on as a means of keeping your activity levels up over the festive season. Exercise can increase levels of leptin, the hormone that helps keep your appetite in check, as well as kick-start your metabolism. If you are too busy to keep to your usual exercise schedule, then dancing is a sure and easy way to work off those extra calories. So whether it's the office or church party or a family gathering, make sure that you enjoy yourself as you dance the night (or day) away. Have a Merry Christmas and see you in 2015!

Size really does matter - especially portion size! Being conscious of your portion sizes can make all the difference between a static waistline and one that is ever-expanding. And if you think that reducing your portion size will deprive you of feeling full, think again. Research shows that feeling full is actually dependent on how much is in front of you the bigger your portion, the more you'll eat and vice versa. Apply this to the festive season and you'll understand how easy it is to gain an average of 5lb (2kg) over this time period. Take control by using a

The peace

MOVEMENT

within You

"And God's peace, which is so great we cannot understand it, will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." -Philippians 4:7 What do you believe could bring you complete peace of mind ? In a world that seems to be becoming increasingly more violent, perverted and confused it would seem that many of us don't have a clue of what peace really is. We have been born into this and may have never experienced it. Generations seem to be getting worse as the years go by and it could be said that world war 3 has really already begun. The difference with this war is that it is internal. Many people are frustrated because they are trying to do what seems to be right and may even follow what looks like it could be right but really it isn't. Many young girls are looking for someone to reassure them and young guys are looking for a way to be rich and successful as they are convinced that that is the way to a happy and peace filled life. Happy? these things usually short lived . . Although it is fair to say that money, success and complements can make you‌ As young people we may find ourselves searching for a peace in places or objects. Some of us go to university to be free from warring with our parents and their rules. Some of us buy so many clothes and products to try to look good on the outside hoping it will do the same on the inside. Some of us listen to songs that create a peaceful mind-set for a moment in time and others go to locations that help them forget about the burdens of the world but the truth be told, all of these things only last a while. The truth is, you need to sign a peace treaty with your Creator. This does not require you to become a religious nut so to speak, but simply requires a relationship with God. Just because you are young does not mean you cannot remain true to your Creator. You won't be young for ever and you don't know what tomorrow will bring, so it is better to make the decision while you still have the opportunity. It is not as hard as it may seem, get connected to the right people and open yourself to learn from the wiser. Once you begin to live in your purpose, that is when you will begin to find yourself and when you find yourself you will be at peace with yourself. The most vital thing for our youth and all people of today is a relationship with Christ himself. www.avitalwoman.com VITAL WOMAN

SPOTLIGHT

SPOTLIGHT ON A VITAL WOMAN

When did you start your business? I started Rich Visions in 2002, but things really kicked off properly in 2004

ignore the bills. In terms of relationship challenges, I would say get to the root of the problem, communicate with your partner that is key in everything.

Tell us about your business? Rich Visions is a corporate diversity communications agency targeting niche audiences which are hard to reach. I have worked with ASDA, Comic Relief, HMRC, Metropolitan Police and HSBC to deliver campaigns targeting ethnic minorities. Under the Rich Visions umbrella there is Rich Visions Small Business, Rich Visions Digital and Diva Visions which is a woman's business club.

If there is one lesson you have learned, what would it be? Success is about perseverance and determination against all odds Finally, would you recommend Vital Woman Magazine and why? Yes I would because it is a magazine which will uplift and empower you.

Why did you make the decision to go into business for yourself? I was a qualified ICT technician but I was not passionate about and I didn't enjoy what I was doing. I had two young kids at the time I also wanted more flexibility so I decided to take the plunge and start my own business. I had been organizing community events like Miss Ghana UK, and identified the huge gap in the market. Corporate and commercial organisations needed to tap into diverse and hard-to-reach audiences but did not know how to engage with them and that's how Rich Visions was born, to bridge that gap. What is your life's goal and mission? My goal is to be one of the top recognised women in business in the UK and beyond. My mission is to leave a legacy to be remembered as someone who made a difference to the community and society as a whole.

Mavis Amankwah is an multi-award winning entrepreneur; specialising in marketing, PR and diversity communications as the CEO of Rich Visions. The PR Guru is also an author, motivational speaker of Ghanian heritage. Mavis has been featured in 200+ media titles ranging from London Live (ESTV) to the Guardian. She has also been named as one of the most influential people in PR for five consecutive years (2009-2013), and she has just been told she will be appearing again for 2014. Rich Visions was established in 2002 when Mavis identified a major gap in the market where corporate and commercial organisations needed to tap into diverse and hard-to-reach audiences but did not know how to engage with them. Mavis has bridged that gap and has successfully steered Rich Visions into one of the leading diversity communications agencies targeting niche audiences. Rich Visions has worked with the likes of ASDA, Comic Relief, HMRC, Metropolitan Police, HSBC and Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea to name a few. Rich Visions has also helped lots of small businesses with their marketing and PR. In 2011 Rich Visions won the contract to deliver a communications campaign aimed at ethnic audiences for the Digital TV switchover. The Digital switchover was the largest public infrastructure change operation since the change to natural gas in 1967. Now in its 12th year, with Mavis at its helm, Rich Visions has launched three other arms of the agency, including; Visions Small Business, Rich Visions Digital and Diva Visions. In late 2014 she also lauched Be (Black Enterprise) Mogul.

Who is that one woman that inspires you and why? My mum because she has been through so much and did her best to raise me in spite of great challenges. What advice do you have for ladies going into ministry or business for the first time? I think both are important but require different things. For ministry it is important to go and participate with your heart. For business, I would say find out what you are passionate about, is it profitable? Identity your weaknesses from the outset, overcome them then get going. What advice do you have for those currently going through financial or relationship challenges? Seek professional help, deal with the issue head on and don't www.avitalwoman.com VITAL WOMAN

MAKING SENSE OF MARKETING

BUILDING A POWERFUL BRAND ONLINE How to tap into your strengths using social media.

This is what Lisa had to say about the event: In May of 2014, I had the opportunity to co-host the 37th Business Growth Network with Lara Mfon of Vital Woman Magazine. We talked to business owners about branding; the role of marketing in one's business, charging what you're worth and the importance of identifying your target audience. Finding your target audience dominated our conversation.

Yetunde talked about these 7 essential steps which will enable you build a powerful brand online. 1. Identify your value statement. Your value statement is your WHY. Why are you doing this business? What emotion does it satisfy for the customer? 2. Pick your top 3 social media platforms to engage with. There are so many social media outlets. You run the risk of weak branding if you are all over the place.

I shared the story about the business owner on a social media group who declared everybody was his customer and how the very thought of this made me cringe. I promise you don't want everybody as your customer! Business owners waste time and resources when you attempt to connect with people who aren't interested in your product or service.

3. Develop your engagement pattern and then BE CONSISTENT with it. 4. Use strong Imagery. And make sure every post or comment is intentional.

“How do we identify them? was the next question. You can research your sales data or extrapolate data from your customer service management (CRM) software. Look for trends in this data. Are your customers mostly females of a certain age? Do they live in a certain region? Participants were urged to keep good sales data if they hadn't been doing so. There's great info to be gathered which can help you create a profile of your ideal customer.

5. Share your story: People connect to people. Those days of people not knowing the faces behind the brand are long gone, so GET USED TO SHARING something. 6. Engage your network: The truth is we all already have a network, so instead of looking OUTSIDE first to grow your business, pull out those old contacts, rebuild connections, email them and re-introduce yourself. 7. Build the relationships: We are relational beings. No man is an island and in social media you bump into people in the virtual world daily.

REAL ESTATES REALITIES

TIPS !

!

!

Christmas is here again! Awesome! It's that time of the year when we as Christians reflect on the kind of love that God, the Father has for us, so much so, that He gave His only begotten Son! All we have to do is believe this and the Bible says we shall be saved. The operative word here is 'gave'. Christmas therefore, in reciprocity, is all about showing selfless love to our family and friends by 'giving' our very best ideally gifts! However there are those amongst us, who simply cannot appreciate the essence of this laudable show of God's kind of selfless love and would rather be harbingers of fear, insecurity and the source of the unbearable pain of losing your valuable possessions to them the burglars! The takers! Watch out!! These home burglars have recently been so emboldened and desperate these days. I recently heard of how they surreptitiously drive behind the post office delivery vans to steal the valuable items (gifts) left at the entrance of the unavoidably absent homeowners who were not at home to receive their parcels in person. But why leave the parcels anyway? That's another story. I call it blatant day light robbery! That will not be your portion this festive season in Jesus name! If you are going to be leaving your home for long periods of time, perhaps a few days or weeks this festive season, my gift to you therefore, is how to ensure you don't unwittingly attract the wrong guests during your absence.

!

!

!

Burglars look for an easy entry with good escape routes. Don't openly display your Christmas tree and gifts in the front window so it's easily visible from the street. It's too tempting for them to smash the window and grab the wrapped packages. Don't leave your outdoor lights burning 24 hours a day, piled up newspapers, or advertising flyers hanging on the door knob. Kindly ask a neighbour to keep the front of your home clean of papers and debris. Don't hide spare keys under rocks, in flowerpots, or above door ledges. Instead give the spare key to a trusted neighbour. Burglars prefer to enter through unlocked doors or windows. Sliding windows that are not secure can be seen from distance. Don't run exterior Christmas light extension through a window and prevent it from being secured. Hire an electrician or handyman to install an inexpensive exterior outlet for your holiday lights. Don't leave descriptive telephone answering machine messages like, “This is the Johnsons residence…we're away spending our Christmas holidays abroad…please leave a message.” Try to resist the urge to update your social media status in the same descriptive manner - ''off to Florida with the whole family for the holidays.'' Burglars love to hear that they have plenty of time to break in and completely ransack your home. Don't leave empty gift boxes from your new expensive gifts like computers, television sets, DVD players etc piled up outside your door after Christmas day. Burglars appreciate knowing that you have expensive gifts inside for them to steal. Break them down or cut them up to conceal the items better. After a lucrative burglary, the chances of being burglarized again are increased to steal the new replacement products. So be alert!

Stay safe, play smart and remember to keep your home secure! Compliments of the Season!

Says Amy "I live with my husband and kids in the beautiful state of Utah. My kids are Nate: 15 years old, Erica, 13 years old, and TJ 11! While most of my time is spent online behind the computer while my kids are at school, the rest of the time you can find us hiking the amazing mountains of Utah, running in the streets or at races, or in the kitchen, baking up some homemade treats, bread, or making up new recipes. Wade, my handsome husband, is a registered nurse at our state prison. He loves what he does, and I love that I never have to look at my children's gaping wounds!" Natalie Monson Natalie grew up in Utah and loves it so much that she stayed and started her family there. She and her husband love southern Utah because of all the amazing places to go hiking and canyoneering. "We love to run races, travel, and my biggest passion is gardening. I graduated from Brigham Young University in Dietetics and then completed my accredited internship at Utah State University to become a Registered Dietitian. We have two girls, Amelia (4) and Sophie (2) who are my test subjects to all the crazy recipes we come up with! I have always loved food and nutrition and have worked in a variety of areas of nutrition. My parents both grew up on farms in Idaho and so my family's eating habits growing up were definitely influenced by the whole foods mentality. Since having my own children I have realized the importance of teaching good nutrition habits young, while also making eating healthy a good experience for children." OUR CHILDREN AND EDUCATION

The Child at Peace

T

he topic of peace takes on additional relevance in our time because of the current state of the world. Several countries are fighting wars, battling religious antagonism and ethnic cleansings. To top it all, institutions of learning, which are meant to be bastions of peace, are also experiencing this loss of peace. In Wikipedia peace is defined as an occurrence of harmony characterized by lack of violence, conflict behaviors and the freedom from fear of violence (Wikipedia). Two definitions from the Merriam Webster dictionary that further serve my purpose are 1) peace is a state of tranquility or quiet and, 2) peace is a freedom from disquieting or oppressive thoughts or emotions. Peace is tangible and yet intangible because it can be felt in our minds, perceived in our consciousness and seen in our environment. When there is peace we have a better relationship with the people around us and ourselves. The same thing happens in the classroom, when the students come from a peaceful home then they are equipped to learn. Their minds and emotions are free from disquieting or oppressive thoughts. However when they experience instability and turmoil at home then they have a hard time learning and will probably bring their anger and frustration into the classroom. Education does not happen in a vacuum, several factors need to be in place for learning to occur and peace is one of them. Within the context of education, peace is tolerance. Peace is teaching children to accept people who are different from themselves - whether because of gender, socio economic status, abilities, special needs, religion, ethnicity or color. It is opening the window of the world and bringing the diversity that exists into the reality of our students.

comfortable enough, to stand before their peers and speak their mind. This type of mind-set must start as early as pre-kindergarten, where the teacher models tolerance, encourages the sharing of ideas, validates differences and encourages kindness. The classroom must also be that place that brings and teaches hope. In the movie “The Students of Room 203,” based on a true life story, most of the students' lives is surrounded by chaos. The teacher builds them back up by creating a community where the students “feel safe, accepted, and understood” so they can journal their lives and begin to find peace despite their circumstances. As educators we must endeavor to promote peace, now more than ever. Peace must be actively taught and practiced. Education through literature can build tolerance by exposing children to stories that have protagonists from a culture other than their own. We must teach life skills that help children resolve conflict peacefully before it escalates to violence. Our institutions of learning must incorporate impactful lessons in the curriculum that teach our students how to follow the path of peace. At all levels, peace must be encouraged, tolerance advocated. We must build classrooms that exude peace so that our students can learn. It is our duty to ensure that the children who come our way learn strategies to allow them to find peace in spite of what the world may be throwing at them. Think about a world where children know how to resolve conflict, where they are accepting of differences and have learnt that though they may disagree they don't have to be enemies. Then we can imagine a world that has learnt to handle its differences a world that strives towards resolving its conflict in a peaceful way. http://www.freedomwritersfoundation. Our classrooms must be a safe-haven - a org/our-story place where students feel free to share ideas and thoughts; where they are www.avitalwoman.com VITAL WOMAN

BOOKSHELF

THINK BIG - BY BEN CARSON. Think Big is a follow up of the famous book Gifted Hands by Ben Carson, he explained that the need to release this book was to let the reader understand that no matter who you are, where you have been, or what you may have gone through, you can fulfil that burning desire of greatness within you. It doesn't matter the circumstances you have been born into or why you are the way you are, with determination, positive thinking and hard work you can achieve greatness. The author immediately draws us in with the story of how his mother inspired him to be the best. Although at an early age it seemed to be just another form

of torture, by a loving parent to an unassuming child. In her own words, she also tells her story. He mentioned and told the stories of quite a number of people who influenced or encouraged him in one way or the other. Ben Carson lets the reader understand that to achieve greatness doesn't mean to be known/popular, but to fulfil purpose no matter what it may be. Happy reading! Review by Fara Lawan, Creative Director Nibbles Grills and Cakes.

The Confident Woman

- by Joyce Meyer Confidence gives us permission to be different, to be unique. God has created every person in a unique way, yet most people spend their lives trying to be like someone else. “I believe confidence is about being positive concerning what you can do – and not worrying over what you can't do.” – Joyce Meyer. It's important to note that, in many cases, successful people have tried many times and failed before they ultimately succeeded. They not only had to begin with confidence, they had to remain confident when every circumstance seemed to shout at them, Failure! Failure! Failure!

When I read this book about 6 years ago, I remember encouraging almost every woman around me to read it, because it is such an eye opener and just takes you to a totally new place, where you are able to embrace your strengths in a powerful way and you learn not to concentrate on your weaknesses. In my opinion, this book will help you see where you are on the “confidence chart”. You'll learn how you can adjust, live a life of true fulfilment and confidently embrace your life's purpose. Why not make this a gift to yourself and start 2015 with a bang!

LIFE COACH

Peace for

Your Life

P

eace is something that we all strive for. Often times we look for it in false places and false things, but true peace ultimately comes from one source, and that is God. There will always be trials and tribulations coming in our lives, and sometimes we will find ourselves struggling to find that peace and contentment to get us through. The bible says “God makes his people strong. God gives his people peace.” (Psalm 29:11 MSG) You see - you don't need to travel too far to find peace. If you earnestly pray for it, God will help you obtain it. Be encouraged! We WILL encounter hardships throughout all of our lives. Whether we are Christian or not, there will be times when we struggle to find peace and contentment. When that happens, you must turn to God. You will only find the answer through Him and within yourself - no one else can give it to you. As you stay focused on Him, keep in mind these seven tips to help you sustain your peace:

knowing that His Word is full of concrete promises and He will always honor them! Assess Your Time. Perhaps you thought you didn't have much to do, but now you realize you have too many things on your plate to accomplish. Learn the art of no, and stay away from the disease of busyness. Rearrange your calendar and your time. We are to be fruitful in our time, not foolish! Please Only God. You can't make everyone happy in your life, so why continually try to do it? Don't allow what others may think of you to compromise what God told you to do. Living to please Him is number one! Keep Your Nose Clean. Don't concern yourself with affairs that have nothing to do with you. The less you dip your feet in someone else's pool, the less chance you have of falling in! There is entirely too much energy used to be concerned or involved in other people's affairs. Concentrate on what you're supposed to be doing, and what is going on in your own life!

Look at Peace as a Valuable Asset. Embrace it and utilize it. Perhaps you feel as though it is something that can't possibly apply to your life on a consistent basis, but it can. Instead of letting your emotions get the best of you, and you get angry, worried or extremely stressed out, apply peace immediately.

Downgrade from the Majors to the Minors. Some things are just not worth the time or the energy. Let it go! Focus on the productive things, not the little things. Relax on your self-expectations to accomplish certain things. God has you, and everything that you desire to accomplish, will come eventually together. Don't just enjoy the destination, enjoy the journey!

Focus on He who provides you the peace. Fix your mind on Him and only Him. Train yourself to focus and meditate on His presence and His power, instead of concentrating on the problem. It only inflates the issues when you do that!

Apply these “peaceful” suggestions to your life today, and watch a more peaceful and productive live unfold right before your eyes. The joy of the Lord is yours for the taking!

Trust God. Take a stand to believe AND rely on what His Word says. If you are a believer in Christ, then the Word WILL help you as you give your problems and issues over to Him. God will never leave you hanging or arrive too late in your time of need. His timing and help are always perfect. Trust in your waiting period that He is using the trials you are going through to reveal more of Him to you and to mature you in Him in a greater way! Rest in
