INNOCOR COMFORT SHOWROOM 1115 Broadway, New York, NY 10010 et al. collaborative size: 2,000 sf
status: completed Housed in the historic Flat Iron district overlooking Madison
Square Park, Innocor Comfort’s design centers around versatility. As a key design element for this multi-functioning space, versatility creates an opportunity for the internal
Interior Design team to adapt the showroom to changing product lines each season.
Modular and mobile furniture aid in the reconfiguration of the main showroom space, while the floor plan is arranged primarily using a permeable and functional floor-to-ceiling
wall display system. Two integrated modular wall panels
pivot on caster wheels and can be positioned to extend into the main space or retract and become invisible depending on the needs of the day.

ISHAM PARK SWIMMING POOL New York Institute of Technology
Studio: comprehensive long span structure Over the past several years, the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene has encouraged the incorporation
of active outdoor space in the design of public buildings.
The Public Swimming Pool + Recreation Center supports
swimming and other fitness programs for children, teens, adults and seniors. The project site is located in the
dense, vibrant, and socioeconomically diverse, Inwood Ground Floor
neighborhood in Upper Manhattan.
The site contains rock outcroppings characteristic of the natural landscape, a number of mature trees, and a very strong slope.
Two limestone walls, which built with local material, separate the long-span dry (clothed) programs and the wet (bathing suited) programs.
The programs of Recreation Center gradually increasing by following the slop of existing park.

PRISON REHAB + INDUSTRAL WATERFRONT RESTORATION New York Institute of Technology Studio: thesis
The thesis seeking the solution of current incarceration
system for young adult in the United States through a study of the economic, race, social condition, education
level and Sentencing. Unemployment is one of the most common reason that prisoner were re-incarcerated within 3 years after released. The new design of rehabilitation
would provide them a technical school level education with
a mostly employment preparation skills such as operation of dredging equipment, barge and ship repair, handling, operation,
and
management
of
pollutant
treatment
installations. Moreover, the new rehabilitation could reduce
their possibility of mental illness by working on more creative projects.

THE SIXTH BOROUGH: COUNTREFLOOD CITY New York Institute of Technology Studio: urban design Team: Mike Auleta
At the heart of Lower Manhattan, exists a new proposed canal system which uses mechanical locks and levee
technology to mitigate water, mobility, new accessible city districts, a new sustainable research water incubator, and multi-seasonal pier spaces. The new vision encourages New Yorkers to live in harmony with their new reality. Sea
levels and coastal surge may occur again. Understanding
its vitality, we view water as an asset, not a liability. The most adaptable component in our infrastructure: the resilience found within the community.
ECO-LAB
THE HABITAT
ART DISTRICT
We kept key community components that maintain the historic fabric within the community. The heliport, pier 15, pier 17, as well as the land marked fulton market will remain, the FDR expressway remains accessible above but only to through traffic. On the southern edge of the site, existing buildings are re-adapted. The lower 15 floors of two major structures are occupied by new water research incubator laboratories. NYC’s infrastructure currently lacks water mitigation. Water Resarch and Deve opment needs to be carefully studied and implemented, new potential relationships and partnerships can be formed.
This new 21st century pier not only creates a waterfront park but focuses on the ecological aspect of water reclamation. This is key in developing specific areas where a myriad of activites take place while maintaining the value of water education at its core.
By respecting the land-marked community, each storefront in the fulton market area will be recladded and transformed into artist incubators for the display and sale of work. This district creates a new destination for artists and visitors alike focusing on all things water. Art, social interaction, and community engagement similar to the nomadic BMW Guggenheim Lab.
