Night walkers While we dream What do you see? Colorful milky smoke flowing to the night sky Dreams paint the galaxies Apr 21, 2015 3:06 am

Skipping along star-lit asphalt with a tupperware container to capture tonight’s smoke, I bump into other night walkers! Oh other night walkers, what colored smoke have you caught to paint with? Let’s trade! I am my interactions with the world and I hold within me the intent to depict those encounters and the encounters of those around me.

Ando’s uses his structure as a stage to portray light, paying particular attention to how it would be depicted across the building’s interior throughout the day.

Design Village: Design village acted as an eye-opener for a lot of people, my group included. As we progressed through the design process, we gradually drifted from designing a place for dwelling on the mountain to designing a shelter for the night. Although we produced a system that would allow us shade and protection from the wind and ground that was relatively easy to transport, we weren’t able to incorporate elements that would better interact with the data derived from our early site analysis. In terms of relations, because we had all known each other already at various levels of companionship, it took us a while before we could work efficiently as group members while also heightening our levels of friendship. Feasibility was a lesson taught early on in the project. No, you can’t cantilever five hundred pounds with just one piece of cable.

International Dwelling:

Motion Studio:

It’s really beautiful when someone falls in love with a building. Also, having the chance to attempt a summary of someone’s work theory was a great way to expose oneself to another way of viewing and approaching projects. Having the chance to choose the building also gave way for full immersion into a concept that before only just touched their fancy.

Our final project turned out to be our first building ever! It was cool developing the technical skills like craft and draft but it was even cooler learning new ones like topography and motion capture.

Learning new software was simultaneously the most tedious and the most enjoyable activity. 3D modeling software in general is amazing in terms of x-acto accident avoidance and the ability to depict an idea. Trying to cram a 3D-model is terrible when you are lacking in dimensions and when first learning the software.

The motion capture in itself allowed for many to incoporate into the project an interest that didn’t necessarily have to tie into architecture. The modeling of the motion was nifty too in how it incorporated projects from previous quarters, especially the gamespace modeling and interpolated void projects from quarter one. A successful project seemed to stick to the original motion as its foundation. Through that, the building would have a unique direction since everyone had pretty different movements and ways to depict them.
