The site of this project in located in the middle Manhattan. Around the site, there are several element effects on our block. The first one is attractive high-line, which attracts lots of people to have some leisure time on the renewed railway. The high-line only have limited entrance which make the special public space isolated from the busy city. The second element which effect on the block is the nearby Hudson river, where is the place people gathering together to swim and bask in the sunshine.

Health problem has always been and will still be the critical problem for city residents. To maintain a good health, citizens always drive cars or use other transportations to the gym then exercise. However, the process of being back and forth between home and gym itself is an exercise. So I am thinking about why not bring this process into a way of exercise, why not let exercise to be part of people’s life. So in our block strategy, we design a GYM block, which bring exercise to be part of people’s life. So the circulation will be a special part of this block. So instead of walk outside home, walk through lobby, taking transportation then arrive gym to have some exercise, I will let people to walk outside their home to those extracted spaces, which is gym, and the gym connecting all sports courts like basketball, tennis, swimming, dancing and so on, and they all connected with offices and commercial. So, in this block, health and exercise will be the most important part in people’s life. And this gym block will change people’s life style.

So base on the two relationship of the surrounding public space. We want to find an outlet for people who gathering in the linear highline, to provide an extra inner public space for the busy city. So we create several pieces of linear building which parallel to each otherďźŒthey have the same function as public space and connect with high line, we want the linear building connected by the extended highline in between and all public activities will happen here.

PLAN PROGRAM ORGANIZATION Because we want people to have enough exercise in this block, so there are only elevation and stairs in the center building and people must walk through the linear space to their home. And between the space of linear space and residential, there are hot desk and public spaces for people to gather together and in the same time to decrease the noise of the public gym.

To deal with the problem of limited accessibility to center core, we design the residential which are linear space , and the residential are one to three floor height, so it will be more easier to get to public gym once they walk out their home.

The studio sets up a retroactive scenario, designing an Olympic Park in Tokyo with respect to its post-Olympic inhabitation, the afterlife of a short-term event with far-reaching consequences for the city. The first exercise develops the future landscape plan of the Park. Looking forward to a wide range of trajectories tracing the Park’s assimilation into city life, we will propose speculative and open-ended schemes for integrating the project’s Olympic prehistory with its future identity, describing an agenda wholly indifferent to the intended use of the forms.

This proposal provides a residence for the Lawn Guard sited inside of The Lawn. In order to be the integrity of the historical landscape, this proposal reduces its vertical presence by digging into the earth. When you walk along the lawn you can find it’s so classical and beautiful, so I don’t want to build a building to disturb it. So, finding that beside of the building, there are so many historical trees located in both side of the lawn, so I want to hind the building with those trees, and the landscape around those trees.

Tea houses, mahjong tables, merry laughters and angry shoutings are vivid portraits of the life of Chengdu people, and “Slow Life” is one of the famous tags of this city. Sichuan Grand Theatre is a symbolic building of Sichuan Province. The theatre can be designed into a platform to host activities with regional characteristics and vigor of daily life, i.e. display the locals’ life just like a drama via this platform. The design continues open spaces of Tianfu Square, large hall and small hall are separated, sunken design of the whole mass and outdoor theatre between both help integrate the Grand Theatre in the locals’ life, in particular the large and small hall are connected with tea galleries where the most popular activities among the locals are organized, such as drinking tea and playing mahjong.

NO.1 Subway

This project is located at the junction of North Renmin Road and 1st Ring Road, the junction of Metro Line 1 and 6, the northern center of the economic development axis, and south side of the Railway Station. The design has to consider the mixed crowds with not-high consumption level, as well as the competitive pressure from the large-scale commercial complex Jinniu Wanda Plaza on the diagonal position. In addition, there is an open underground commercial street with small building volumes by the south of the planning site, in the theme of “big streets and small alleys”, Kuanzhai street next to a 4.5-m sunken square. traditional commercial street The small-scale commercial street in the south is designed with the theme of “big streets and small alleys”, then how to unify the small-scale buildings and the high rise harmoniously? How to continue the concept of “big streets and small alleys” in high rise design? 19

SKY TREE A NEW PATTERN IN OFTREES COEXIST HARMONIOUSLY WITH HIGH-RISES

TIME:2014.8 SOFTWARE: Rhino, Grasshopper, V-Ray, PS, AI. TUTOR: YU ZHANG Team member: Yueyin Li, Hanxuan Qin, Xin Xie Contribution: Design 60%, Graphic design 60%, technical drawing 100%, Modelling 33%, Architecture representation 50%

WHY As buildings grow increasingly higher based on human wisdom and power, natural trees however remain their original heights, and are totally shaded by high-rises. Thus, is there any way to help trees grow higher, so as to explore a new pattern in which trees coexist harmoniously with high-rises and cities?

WHAT The aim of this project is to help trees grow to the scale of a skyscraper but remain their central role, in the way they dominate the natural environment and provide a micro-climate for those people live and work in skyscrapers around the big tree. The sky tree can be constructed in any narrow space among high-rise buildings just like ordinary trees among low buildings. Ecological leisure spaces will be formed around the tree planting points to realize the urban functions and human-concerned designs of the sky tree. The sky tree is a landing field for the future air vehicle. The space truss structure of the tree bark complies with that of modularized air vehicle, thus the tree is available for the inlaid landing of air vehicle.

In this project, we want to discuss the relationship with technology and human. It is purported that the integration of technologies in everyday life can have profound effects on human relationships, in both positive and negative ways. More notably, technologies impact on or interfere with how individuals engage in interpersonal relationships. We want our wearable fog machine can be a media to express human's different mode through different fog stage and behave within relationships, and project feelings and meanings including displays of emotions and love.

We choose the site near high-line and near the Hudson river, we want to create a suitable relationship with the surrounding, which including the height with the new developing Hudson Yard, the adjacent famous high-line which attract a lot of people, the Hudson river which is not a hot spot for the surrounding. There are several condition which attract us, the first one is the attractive high-line which attract a lot of people and provide a special view point of the city, the huge amount of people enjoy the sunshine and public space which built on a historic freight rail line elevated above the streets on Manhattan’s West Side. The second one is the Hudson River, which also have attractive view but not really develop well. We think the most important space in the city is the public space. And we found the existing building on the site is industrial building which have the same feature as high-line. So we want to use it, to remain the structure of the building and create some space on the roof to connect with high-line and have some internal public space or have a direction to the Hudson river.
