Das besondere Charakteristikum des kolumbianischen Vaquetaleders ist das harmonische Zusammenspiel der einzelnen Eigenschaften: Die unbehandelte Oberfläche, der aquarellhafte Ausdruck der Farben, der samtartige Griff und die bemerkenswerte Leichtigkeit des Leders. Ich dachte, dass sich eine einfache aber funktionelle Umhängetasche mit den Besonderheiten dieses sympathischen Leders am besten umsetzen ließe. Der einzige Design-Eingriff ist die leicht assymmetrisch gesetzte Vortasche, die dem Modell eine eigene Spannung gibt. Eine Anspielung auf die Natur, in der selten etwas ganz gerade oder symmetrisch ist. Wie auch immer – am Ende bestechen die Farben zusammen mit der darunterliegenden Lederstruktur und erinnern an changierende Aquarellfarben.
The characteristics of colombian vaquero leather is its untreated surface, its velvet like touch, its warm colors and its remarkable lightness. I thought a really simple but useful shopping bag would show these characters at their maximum. So the only design we gave to this bag is the front pocket which is placed a bit asymmetric which gives the bag its final tension and thus a face. As well it is also a tribute to nature which is rarely even or symmetric. However, it was evident that the image of chacoral bag would be mainly determined by the color – which is not just an even color. No – it seems to be more like watercolor showing through its transparency the leather structures below. Being then an “open” leather the bag communicates between user and its environment by creating its own final expression.
