The aim of the research and the design project is to initiate the idea of ‘Able-ing The Disabled Through Sports.’The design included various sports courts, healthcare faciities as well as accomodation services for the user needs and to minimize physical and emotional pain and distress to them. The study will also help in promoting participation in sports and inclusion amongst the society

Today, the idea of people with a disability being able to participate in sport and physical activity is not so uncommon. In many developed countries, opportunities exist from the primary to superior levels for people with a disability to showcase their abilities in sport and physical activity. But this is not the case in all parts of the world. While there has been progressive and positive change in quality of life for people with disabilities and their interest in participation in sport which is not only in many developed countries but in developing countries like India also.

According to the United Nations, 15% i.e.. Around one billion people live with disabilities globally , they are the world’s largest minority, as many as 40-80 million live in India, Yet people with disabilities are treated as abnormal and inhumane in India. The basic definition of disability has been misunderstood to maximum population of this country .

Throughout centuries, the disabled have been suppressed and characterised in almost all societies. They constitute a section of the population, which is least served and neglected. Person with disability have been socially, educationally and economically disadvantaged, thus denying their right to self-assertion, identity and development. Not only the underdeveloped infrastructure across the country makes it difficult for them to get around but also prejudice and the belief that disabled people are at fault for their incapacity can affect their ability to lead a normal life. The goal of the inner and outer struggles so far is to live a more or less normal life in a more or less normal community and to break out of poverty and restrictive environments.

It is time we build an accessible yet inclusive spaces for the majority of Design Principle minority community and give them their right to access and right to all services just like everyone else
