RE MORAGAON
An Urban Village
year location
1st year Moragaon, Mumbai
01
Encompassing the daily banal of cooking, fish drying, watching television and small talk with the neighbours the house sculpts itself around it. The form integrates itself with the neighbours to provide as a platform for daily chores and conversations. Having private programs revolve around a central semi open gathering space, the house extends as a roadside patio inviting the village folk in.

2nd year Terracotta City, West Bengal
Criss crossed within vectors of use / abuse memory and desire the home is the portal for transportation of the self. A mirror within which we reconstruct ourselves. The Zoologists house, becomes one such portal allowing him to transport between realities of childhood memories, and becomes a prosthetic tool to reshape himself economically, socially and emotionally.
*WALL SECTIONS - WINDOW & SKYLIGHT DETAIL
On entering one descends lower into the ground detaching oneself of the outside reality. A circular ramp navigates you through the spaces of varying scale and quality, triggering various emotions and offering glimpses of the outside along the way.
Cyclical motion of hands, legs and shoulders, The brain continuously adapts and evolves with the rhythm of the machine, Unconscious information and signals emitted, The body now transforms into a living machine.
IN Vocational Training Centre year location
03
2rd year Terracotta City, West Bengal
Capturing on the prolonged repetative dialogue between man and the machine, each trying to master the other, the building displays the institution as a factory producing cyborgs. The design is an ensemble of plinths below a floating roof. The neutral roof allows for a wide plethora of activities to be conducted below it. Also allowing for a better visual and physical integration between different courses helping the institute function as a whole.
FRONT ELEVATION
A portal framed roof hangs over a sculpted ground plinth accommodating various ephemeral activities of public display galleries, amphitheaters etc. acting as a link between the institute and the city.
CROSS SECTIONS
Decks are suspended at various levels to incorporate the vocational workshops, and common amenities as floating pavilions between them.

Museum Extension
04
3rd year Thimpu, Bhutan
The project rooted amidst strong contextual references in the capital city, focuses on the issue of Identity and Architecture. In a place where modern architecture carries the baggage of heritage, the project looked at questioning these interrelationships in the 21st century. Acting as an extension to the existing heritage building of the museum, the new building looks at creating archives for Buddhist plamleaf manuscripts and libraries for the same and also display spaces for Thanka paintings.
Evolving from a series of postcards depicting various aspects of the Bhutan, through sketches and photo montages a final formal language of intervention was reached. Which was further evolved through various models. The final design consisted of three objects placed on site containing three distinct programs having different site responses. Which were held together at the same time separated by a single retaining wall. The wall acts as the key element in the organization drawing people in, and directing them at the same time establishing a link with the old museum building .

IN A SCHOOL IN AMALSAD competition project location collaboration
05
Amalsad, Gujrat Jaydeep Mulye Vinit Nanivadekar
The project closely deals with the student space and time relationship, keeping the individuality of the student in mind. The building attempts to break away from the mundane classroom experience and allows learning to happen in a variety of spaces ranging from open courtyards to somber sky lit boxes, which seek to create learning more interactive and allow holistic individual growth. At the same time it also promotes an alternative teaching method. The phase-wise development of the project is taken into consideration not leaving the building incomplete or dysfunctional at any point of time. the building is organized in such a way, that the students are distributed based on spatial requirements and inter student interaction demanded by the respective age groups.

UD KALLAI RIVERFRONT year location collaboration
Redevelopment
06
4th year Kozikode, Kerela Vinit Nanivadekar
The Kallai river edge has been a hub of sawmills, world famous for its seasoning of wood. Over a period of time, the sawmills have been underutilized due to the decline of the industry. This River edge, consisting of a series of redundant sawmills is a site for potential redevelopment. The mill owners, in order to make profit want to develop this land for commercial purpose while the neighborhood community aspires to open up this resource of land for recreational purpose. The project intends to amalgamate the aspirations of the community and the mill owners sensitively to create public places along the river edge, along with the commercial development of the place.

Lifted above on forked columns, the sports center extends as a river side deck, open to all. Where as the programs are tucked into closed boxes. Thus maintaining the continuity of the river from the road.
Sculpted out of red laterite stone, the health care center sits on the river edge with the polyclinics overlooking the river.
The old mill structure is preserved, juxtaposed with a new roofing system that integrates the introvert structure with the adjoining ground. Creating intermediate semi-open spaces.

rental offices Rental offices are inserted within the frame work of the existing mills. Concrete volumes are inserted to break the monotony of the grid, while creating spaces for share amenities.

Incremental Housing
08
Mumbai, India. Shail Joshi, Vinit Nanivadekar
Mumbai, for the Indian masses is facing high levels of immigration from all over the country. It’s resident population is exponentially growing leading to high densities in the housing sector. Consequentially, the issue of mass housing becomes very important to the city. The project aims at potential integration of highly influential market forces along with urban policies. A sensitive tactic is developed with a programmatic means that sustains all existing functions as well as incorporate additional programs. The project adopts a strategy of incremental growth for high density mass housing. The strategy is culturally viable allowing a family to root and grow as per will. This strategy creates a hierarchy of open spaces making the design climatically suitable to hot and humid conditions. This is further reinforced by precast panels offering a variety of material modules, to suit the weather and the program for a given space.
