Lastly, to Trevor Shank, I leave “are you ready?,” TSA States, Pizza Luna, Spain, and your attempt at asking Kelsey to Prom. To Everyone I mentioned, I leave many other memories that I can’t remember or include at the moment. I, Phillip Bannister, being of sarcastic mind and theatrical body, do hereby bequeath the following items: To Ms. Houff (Houffie) I leave tons of appreciation. Not only did you manage to be a great teacher but you were also a great friend. Getting to work with you during musical, choir, and music theory classes are all great memories I will have from HHS. You taught me so much and only increased the love I had for musical. To Mr.Swartz (Papa Swaz) I leave my journey in performance from freshman to senior year. You helped me become such a better actor and gave me the push I needed when I was discouraged. You were just always a positive force for me and if I do continue to act in college I will have you to thank for a great foundation. To Ms.Fisher/Hovermale (Kathy) I leave the funny stories and laughs from the stops I make to your class and the potential pictures of your child. It was awesome that I had a chance to be at your wedding through my internship and know that you will be a great mom. To Mrs. Grogg I leave tons of late slips for all the times I came to school late and talked about life with you in the attendance office. To Mr. Snow I leave a blank space in my schedule for the band classes that I never took but always wanted to. I was always a huge fan of the band and wish I could have had a chance to have you as a teacher. To Isaac Rohrer I leave our freshman prom experience, awesome movies and music, D-Moneys awesome cooking, Jehovah, bad fake facial hair for musical, ghetto under shirts during Joseph, fun trips to VTA, and just being a good friend. You’ve been a good friend of mine for a while and you don’t come across real friends very often. Even though I’ve been friends with a lot of people in high School, I think we will remain friends after graduation in college. To Dylan Norquest I leave one-act shows. I have done more one-act performances with you than anyone I know. I have no doubt that you will be awesome next year at VTA. To Charity O’Connor I leave a mouse with a tiny suitcase. B

had fun in Newsstreak and just in general. People knew that whenever Phillip and Christine are in a room craziness is coming. To Lauren Martin I leave funny inside jokes, journalism trips, khaki pants, snoring, and funny looks. We have been friends since the 6th grade and it’s crazy to think about that but a lot of funny stories and inside jokes fall inside that long period of time. To Emmett Copeland I leave the funny memories of not being friends. I’m glad that we became friends my senior year despite the fact that the road there was not the easiest haha. To Paul Hairston I leave bad Halloween costumes, goofy faces, broadcasting, good movies, and the sound track to every movie ever, just because you rock at finding a scene that goes with every song. To Jack Adamek I leave four years of Newsstreak, the ability to do a kick butt layout, future musicals, extremely awkward car rides, visits at Parade of Champions, movie marathons, trips to smoothie king, and team team. I have no doubt that you will excel in school and especially in Newsstreak. Even when times get tough, stick through it, once you’re a senior you will look back on it and be happy that you did-trust me. You’ve been a great friend and a great person and I know you will go far. To Sarah Shick I leave team team, bad visits at Dairy Queen, call-a on-a dolly (look look), singing Hercules, awkward moments, knowing when to be confrontational, and being extremely loud all the time. Enjoy senior year, it will go by faster than you know. To Molly Denman I leave trips to NYC, trips to Indiana, Nanimo Bars, rock-band, hanging out in the summer, and good times in general. To Maria Rose, Alison Domonoske, and David Proctor I leave Anaheim California, bonding over back to school issue, putting together computer chairs, countless amounts of meetings, stupid fights, awesome team moments, and THE NEWSSTREAK’S FIRST PACEMAKER! I cant believe how far we all came from freshmen. I am extremely thankful that I was able to be a fellow EIC with you guys. Even though Alison and David had their moments over David’s questionable moments of attitude (David we all know you’re saucy) and me and Maria had our moments of disagreement, we still kicked butt. I know that you guys are some of the smartest and most talented people I know and hope that I stay in touch with all of you after we go our separate ways. To William Imeson I leave Dunder Mifflin t-shirts, young and reckless, funny text conversations, reading other peoples’ text conversations, an instructional break dancing video, and fun times on journalism trips. Also, I’m leaving you a map to Radford so you have no excuse to not visit next year. To Simona Byler I leave Mr.Beatty’s 6th grade class, English sophomore year, searching for fake contacts, being out weighed by the baconador, apples accompanied with loud mouth noises, and the ability to know that you can beat anyone up, at least in your mind. To Thomas Wong I leave the time it took you to write your name on my list of people to include. To Tyler Shenk I leave Dual Enrollment English, I’m not quite sure how I would have survived that class without you in there to keep me entertained with your comments and drawings. To Patrick Turner I leave Shennanarts, crazy directors, fun middle school times, and being one of the friends I have had the longest. To Caleb McClay I leave good car insurance, keebler elves, and a helmet for anyone that may be riding in your car. To Melanie Bridges I leave fun times in Spanish and Trig, Amy’s homework, team A not team delta, Welby and Jimmy, trips to 7-11 during lunch, and homework parties where hot drinks may or may not get spilled on your Macbook pro. To Emily Blatt I leave Math classes, team A, trying to make sense of math when it never does, hanging out with Fisher and trips to Brusters. To Nancy Carrie Logan I leave shenanigans in choir and yearbook, and also the crows nest. To Laura Baker I leave cold soccer games, funny times with the Adameks, and the signature “you, you got me” move, not only to be used in soccer but in life in general. To Evan Wetsel I leave Hawaiian bread, that surgery you always wanted on your fingers, road trips to Indiana, don’t stop believing by Journey, nasty scars, conversations about poop, and sweat pants. To William Imeson, Rachel O’Connor, Charity O’Connor, Christine Choi, Marshall Hyser, David Proctor, Jack Burden, and Mark Duda I leave the KCMO crew and the knowledge that you always go to KCMO never KCK. To Christy Stearn, William Imeson, Vanessa (V-dog) Ehrenpries, and Jack (Half-an-editor) Burden I leave an amazing publication with an amazing staff. You guys will do great next year. I know it. To Mrs. Valerie (Thuggie P) Kibler I leave growing up. I leave countless amounts of life lessons, come to Jesus talks, and just help in general. You helped me become a better person and student so much I don’t know how I can thank you. Because of you I found journalism, I found the thing that I feel I am genuinely good at. You were hard on me and pushed me more than anyone else has in my life and now I can step back and see that it was all for the greater good and

all out of Love. You’re an amazing person, a great friend, a ridiculous journalist, and an inspiration to me. I will never be able to think about high school and not think about you and everything you did for me over the last four years. I know things were not easy but you saw something in me, you pushed and you got me to where I am today, an editor-in-chief of one of the top publications in the country. To Tabea Zimmermann: Gov School, particularly bus rides (Yay for having our own seats!), having senioritis and complaining about how much work we have to do, whirlpooling, the chocolate game and the bay trip. To Maria Rose: Newsstreak, being beautiful, your ability to make any situation awkward, your outgoing personality, Mac Book Pro love, heartfelt chats. To Olivia McCarty: your stylish clothes, playing in the snow, fabulous chocolate chip cookies and good times in eighth grade. To Conner Whitehouse: a Chick-fil-a milkshake. To Sam St Ours: your great college advice, goldfish and really my entire lunch. To William Imeson: Fight Club and being sexy. To SSB: serving the community, the Womacks, Turners, and Daryl’s great leadership and alternative spring break trips that will change your life. To Thuggie P/Cash Money Kibs/Kibler/ Penton: my favorite and most educational class of high school, preparing me for the great unknown a.k.a. college and your ability to encourage and get the best out of me no matter how discouraged I am. I, Christine Choi, of outspoken mind and willowy body, To my baby, Rachel O’Connor, I leave my blue floral print drawstring bag, where it all began. I’m sad our 7 beautiful years of seeing each other almost every day has come to an end. There’s no one else I would have gotten in trouble for standing on top of toilets in the 5th grade or acting like hooligans on those warm summer nights (you screaming singing Mike Posner’s Cooler Than Me out my car window).... You’ll always be my little sister despite the fact you’re more than a year older than me... I hope you’ll have a sleeping bag and a pillow available for me at your dorm, I plan on visiting you often. :) To my soul mate and the only one that understands my weird behavior, Charity O’Connor, I leave you roadtrips, warm yogo’s in our pockets, my “engagement” ring, “We Intertwined” by The Hush Sound, and our small gray hardback notepad. It all started with my first birthday party listening to Stacy’s Mom and being weird children, to being even weirder (almost) adults and becoming roomies for JMU next year. I can’t even sum up our friendship in a small paragraph. Two bodies, one mind. I swear I might have been separated from you and Rachel at birth or something weird... To my brother, Ryan Fletcher, I leave you our 6th grade science class. From an adorable curly poofy haired kid to a short haired giggly young man, I’m going to miss you lots. No matter where you go to school, I hope we never grow apart. To Phillip Bannister, I leave you a CD with 100 tracks with just the song “Can’t Believe It” by T-Pain and Lil’ Wayne and many suffocating hyena laughs. I don’t know anybody else who can make a classroom laugh through contagious giggles over the smallest jokes. I’ll never forget our journalism trips laughing on the bus over everything and how you somehow always ended up rooming with the best people.... To Kiah Silver, I leave you rainy Kline’s trips, fried pickles, and food (lots of it, and every kind). You better come visit me at JMU and let me raid your shoe closet every now and then since we’re conveniently the same shoe size... Get ready for summer and our road tripsss! :] To Emily Knupp, I leave our great stories, and my 6th grade get-well cards. To my fellow Duke, I expect many future lunch dates and hang out sessions. In addition, you will be left with tailgating on Friday nights, random runs to iHop. Lastly, I leave you with the task of enjoying high school and being a Blue Streak to the fullest. Maria Adamson I leave the duty of commanding the minions while speaking Russian. To both Morgan Wheatley and Kelsey Messerley I leave all the memories we made on the soccer field together, all the different tournaments, games, wins and loses, we have experienced together, McFest tournament championships, and Planet Pizza. To Kelsey I leave dark closets for Ali to go into. To Morgan I leave 10 years of playing defense together, all the conversations we have had, and the goals we have saved. I, Christina Luna, of young mind and pregnant body, do hereby bequeath the following items: Student bodyteachers, smelly lockers, crowded hallways, school lunches, new principal, and a new class of freshman. I, Lauren Martin, of beautiful mind and “knock em’ dead” body, do hereby bequeath

the following items: “ P i p Marmorstein: I leave an unexpected friendship that came along at the perfect time, sharing our eerily similar life issues, our love of cheerleading and hopes of us carrying on the tradition, late nights and early mornings at Hollister, my first (and last) trip to Waffle House, “”Shots”” by LMFAO, Ultrabar, amazingly spontaneous roadtrips to absolutely everywhere and nowhere all at the same time, my sense of fashion, crunchy hot dogs with the bros at Walter’s, a reserved parking space in my driveway, Brandon from Mary Wash (ha), almost getting jumped at a dance party, Rufus, and most importantly, I leave you knowing how grateful I am to have a friend like you, baby! It’s been a good two years and I know we’ll be together for a lot more. You’re amazing I hope you never forget it or let someone tell you otherwise. Christine Choi: I leave so much more than will fit in my allowed space. I leave slurpees, trips to Grandma’s in the summer, sneaking people in my basement-- and getting caught. I leave ranch and honey mustard snack wraps, spending hours watching Spongebob after school, Mom’s spaghetti, my breakfast spaghetti, BoLo and Tubesock, Rick and Beans, the Lil Wayne concert, making t-shirts at MarkIt, almost dying in the 300 outside DNR, matching without planning it, trips to the nail salon, my terrible french braiding, thousands of pictures, parking at Hunter’s Ridge, trips to Kline’s, Jaleesa Davis, wings and ranch, parties at my house, Newsstreak trips, Sunset Beach and that epic bike ride, sneaking out, Lonebirds, running wild on the golf course, and the list goes on. I also leave you lots of “”I’m Sorry””s and even more “”Thank You””s. You’re so important to me, way more important than I’m sure you believe or even know. You’re my sister, my support, my counselor when I’m feeling crazy or depressed. I know you’re going to do great things with your life and I cannot wait to see where life takes you. I just hope I’m able to be there, cheering you on. Patrick Turner: I leave you hating you in seventh grade, and coming to adore you in twelfth. I leave you getting stranded in BFE, Kyoto’s amazing food, our first outing to Pennybackers, those beautiful blue eyes, sharing life stories and aspirations, that one kiss, musical rehearsals in middle school, Boys Dance Team, and camping trips to come. I’m so glad we’ve gotten so close. I’m also so grateful that you have been able to show me what a genuine guy looks, sounds, and acts like. Never lose that. Phillip Bannister: I leave your Newsstreak amazingness, Skippy Cheese, sharing our looks that require no words to decipher, journalism trips, our immense love of all things sarcastic, and the knowledge that you will be famous one day. It’s been a long and interesting run, Phil. I’m going to miss you. Maria Rose: I leave you the regret we were not closer in our most recent years, your adventurous fashion, a “”hit me with your best shot”” attitude that will enable us to conquer the world, a passion for journalism that is not comparable by many I know, and the most sincere hope that we cross paths in the future. Landon Turner: I leave you old school music, Friday Night Lights, thousands and thousands of text messages, the knowledge we would have been perfect, sharing our hopes, dreams, secrets, jokes and flaws, the picture we took in eighth grade, an apology for being the source of drama your first year here, getting asked about how awesome you are by strangers, watching you work it out on the football field this fall, and most importantly, that beautiful CAROLINA BLUE. Zack Dean: I leave you Jimmy Dean, the ridiculously large Ravens coat, hanging out in Grand for hours, long rides in the mustang, your surprising ability to pick really good music, scary movie nights at my house, that one night at Ricky’s (I’m sorry), wanting to choose you but never actually doing it, and incredible hugs. Syd and Rachel: I leave you guys all the big sister love I have. Syd- I leave you knowing I will always be your “Jiggles” and wanting you to remember how special you are and I will always be there when you need a reminder. Rach- I leave you a lot of crazy nights with some crazier people, getting snowed in at my house, having yo’ back, and someone to listen when you feel no one else will understand. Mrs. Supko: I leave you with a big thank you. I will always appreciate everything you have done for me and all the sound, motherly advice you’ve given me. Mrs. Valerie Joan Penton Kibler: I saved you for last because what I’m leaving you took a lot of thought. I guess in reality, you are the one leaving me with so much. You’re leaving me the ability to believe in myself to do great things, you’re leaving me laughing at your quick wit and sarcasm, you’re leaving me with leadership potential I never imagined I would have. You’ve given me an outlet to express how I feel towards all aspects of my life, and that has turned into a home I will always feel welcome coming back to. I think a teacher like you is only allowed to come around once in an educational lifetime. I think this is because if there were more than one, the gifts teachers like you give their students wouldn’t be as special. I could tell you thank you, but I know that wouldn’t cover it. I will always take a part of you and room 444 with me wherever I go. I aspire to do fantastic things with my life and know you will be there along the way cheering for me. You have touched my life in wondrous ways and I can only hope that one day, I will be able to touch a life in the same capacity.

To Brian Woods, I leave arguments from AP Computer Science. To Aubtin Heydari, I leave Operation: GSA. To Tyler Shenk, I leave the experience of your first mosh-pit at TSA and money for a spray-tan. To Luke Stephen, I leave 9/11 and Osama conspiracy theories along with a cop tracker. To John Dod and Joe Niland, I leave Jimmy John’s. To Zach McDonnell, I leave future Eminem impersonator gigs. And to Joaquin Peralta, I leave oogie. I, Zach Price, being of dazed mind and fragmented body, do hereby bequeth the following items: To the Parklawn PRJKT, I leave battle scars and bullet wounds. To Tim Galicki, I leave a sledgehammer replica and memories of head-banging. To Drew Matthias, I leave a broken Mazda rear fender. To Alan Qambari, I leave a copy of “Frindle”. To “Colonel” Ali Shah, I leave battle plans to take over Wyndham Woods. To Spanish V Classmates, I leave memories of singing the Pokemon theme song and “You’re the best around”. To Adam Kraimeche, I leave the substitute from hell. To Ryan Stees, I leave the joys of laughter. To Xuyi Guo, I leave $keem CDs. To Geil Ramirez, I leave $4.43 for a Dragon Palace Lunch Buffet. To Leo Arango, I leave a CD of “Girls, Girls, Girls”. To Jessica May, I leave happy days with Big Mustafa Rasheed. To Brian Woods, I leave arguments from AP Computer Science. To Tyler Shenk, I leave the experience of your first mosh-pit at TSA and money for a spray-tan. To Luke Stephen, I leave 9/11 and Osama conspiracy theories along wih a cop tracker. To John Dod and Joe Niland, I leave Jimmy John’s. To Zach McDonnell, I leave future Eminem impersonator gigs. And to Joaquin Peralta, I leave oogie. I, David Proctor, being of sarcastic mind and excited body do hereby bequeath the following: To Maria Rose, Alison Dominoske and Phillip Bannister, I leave Anaheim, the Tower of Terror, the ferris wheel of death, A BANDANA?!, getting all sentimental about graduation, sauciness, putting together the online editor-in-chief chair, calendar air bubbles, the SIPA rave, a mildly creepy love for Steph, stupid arguments and WINNING OUR FIRST PACEMAKER. To Jack Burden, I leave being half an editor, your unending and definitely hypocritical sauciness, the Wall of Creation, driving you around to try and sell ads, rooming together on every trip and Newsstreak.com. To Bobby Rotzin, I leave being the only people to do debate all four years, our very first public forum debate where Norment just tossed us in without even having speeches and debate domination. To Vanessa Ehrenpreis, I leave being extremely grumpy on bus rides (particularly when we have to get off at 3 a.m.) and being a Newsstreak beast. To Ryan Waligora, I leave Rebecca Black and the future of Lincoln-Douglas Debate. To Ben Marks, I also leave you the future of LD debate, suffering through Spanish online, writing debate speeches the day of tournaments and unending debates about politics and religion. To Zach McDonnell, I leave AP English, the mile high stack of late work we were always turning in, strong political views and the realization that both of our football teams suck. Sort of a lot. To Luke Stephan, I leave a 10th grade obsession with Rosie O’Donnell. To Mark Duda, I leave being the biggest instigator alive, particularly at KCMo. To William Imeson, I leave the freaks of the dance in KCMo and Newsstreak.com. To Lauren Martin, I leave planning our dinner in Kansas City, making us dress up and bringing us into the ghetto of KCK. To Valerie Penton/Kibler, I leave constantly challenging me to do better. You never let me get comfortable doing whatever I was doing. You saw something in me that most other people didn’t and were able to get the most out of me. You took me places, both literally and figuratively, that I never would have otherwise went. Literally, I had never been west of Tennessee. You enabled me to go to St. Louis, Kansas City and Los Angeles. At the very least, it would have been a looong time before I went to any of those places. Figuratively, you made me both a better student and a better person. I, Chris Pyle, of clear mind and tired body, do hereby bequeath the following items: To the SBC: I leave my stories and PSA’s, in the hopes that it will inspire new students to excel in broadcasting and finally get that All-Southern rating at SIPA (and beat Stratford High school) To my teachers I leave my Burning Soul, so that they may know that they made a difference in my future. To the cast of the Spring Play: I leave the spirit of Waltonism, in the hopes that you participate in the play next year and never forget its joys Also to the cast of the spring play I leave this: /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\, so that they may remember me (also so that it will haunt them forever). I, Geil Ramirez, of thoughtful mind and sacred body, do hereby bequeath the following items: I leave to Kevin Franco AP Euro, Madden 11, and Bay side New York to the Sophomores in my AP European History class, I leave Walt Disney, Mother...., and rude and inappropriate comments, to the Juniors in my Honors Pre-Calc class I leave Turners antics and a constant confusion of math, to those in renaissance I leave THE

P

Allman’s 2nd grade class, and to Joaquin Peralta I leave a deep and thoughtful apology for the state championship game, and finally to Mr. Vass and Mrs. Smith I leave seniors acting like toddlers and the greatest amount of annoyance produced by Timothy Galicki. I, Isaac Rohrer, of absent mind and tired body, do hereby bequeath the following items: To Philip Bannister, I leave one single word. The word that brings a smile and a laugh every time we start “The Love Knot”. I also leave you the Bovia pillows from the Hyatt Regency Reston so that you may remember all the good times we had. To Natalie Warner, I leave some Strawberry Shortcake gum and the minions from “Despicable Me”, and maybe something orange. To the Hyser Brothers, I leave my hand crafted yamaka, and my British socks. To Caleb McClay, I leave a 2000 Volvo XC, the safest car on the road, and a “How to Drive Safe” instructional DVD. To Dylan Norquest, I leave the a comb and a set of clippers for the fox that dwells upon you head, and also the time we tried to make a song for Houff. To Sam St. Ours, I leave the lyrics of Mumford and Sons, so that you may remember to “roll away your stone” and buy me a t-shirt. To Emmett Copeland, I leave some hardcore parkour on the streets of Reston, and an electronic pitch generator to help with your tone-deafness. To Paul Hairston, I leave a pair of long pants, and a pair of fur boots so that you can not look ridiculous when it is snowing outside. To Ms. Houff, I leave an entire bag of Reese’s Cups. Seriously, I have them, just ask. Finally, to Mr. Swartz, I leave my thanks, for being the finest stage director a pseudomusical person like myself could ask for. I, Bobby Rotzin, of grounded mind and stable body, do hereby bequeath the following items To Tyler Shenk, flip books, snarky comments, Mr. Berkeley, and Algebra 2 juniors. To Ryan Stees, the darn finger clap I can never do and the time I accidentally qualified for the AIME. To Madeline Murphy Culbreth, online class updates, relationship advice (even though how would I know?), being mock offended (why I never?!). To Tim Galicki, trying to figure out what people are talking about. To Xuyi Guo, being the chillest guys at debate tournaments, topicality, Mother Shruti, hard college decisions, Korean pop music, and your two daughters (Mary and Sam). To Aubtin Heydari, the stress of freshman year, being a nerd (just embrace it), debate camp girls (because that is all you care about), and stereotypes. To Howard Zuo, our first argument over utilitarianism, your bromance with Heidegger, and the debate team, it’s yours buddy. To Zak Kraimeche, I leave bees in the car and our old soccer team. To Landon Turner, surprise trustfalls, nobody can do them like you. To Drew Matthias, Target rants, basketball games, and Mrs. Fielding’s class (it’s not her fault). To Luke Stephan, clothes that are too tight and Geil’s house. To Geil Ramirez, I leave New Year’s grapes, your parents’ cooking, and actually getting games started. To Brian Woods, telling good stories, funny lunch times, and Native American jokes. To Marshall Hyser, I leave trying to go by your real first name and manning up. To Joseph Roth, I leave og at VT, wolf, a lot of funny names, whispered jokes in Fielding’s class, and “of course this would happen to me.” To Zach McDonnell, Mr. Fennimore’s class (best class ever!), Mr. Turner’s class, and telling it like is even when you get looks. To Keith Thomas, I leave a Frisbee. To Leo Lopez, I leave being scared of workouts, being overly excited, and ask what happened to all my dough? To Vanessa Ehrenpreis, I leave WNRN and being faster than all the boys. To Jennifer Hess, I leave us stressing out over small things, sarcasm, and me being too honest and getting dirty looks. To Mr. Norment, I leave the debate team; in four years you have built a dynasty. To everyone else, I finished this last minute (like always) and I promise I would have left you something. To Natalie Warner, I leave your judging face during physics class. To William Imeson, I leave my 21 skills, because with that tiny bit you will be able to overcome Nevin Heckman during every game. To the Indoor Track Team, I leave waking up way too early on Saturday to head to Liberty. To Claire Glick, I leave mysterious bruises that magically show up. To Ben Marks and Ryan Waligora, I leave the Hall of Creation. To Wayson Lee, I leave you my shins; I have never gotten shin splints so they may be helpful. I, Maria Rose, of Asian mind and fun-sized body, do hereby bequeath the following items: To the cross country girls: I leave you

Jack Burden & William Imeson- Senior Wills B2

and playtime, crazy games and jiggalo or however you spell it, memories of The Olive Garden Dinner, the Stevens twins, attacking the boys’ team, peeing your pants, awkward points, singing in car rides, strange nicknames, hair-dying, scary movies, that darn Sebby, summer training, morning runs, terrible workouts at The Farm, “Are you ready for this jelly?”, the Sloppy Shoe Invitational and Bugg and Loughran--take care of them, you guys. Keep them in check. I leave you being the hottest team in the world. Thank you for the good times and being the thing I look forward to most every year, much less every afternoon. I have a request--keep bus #84 rockin’. To Team Amazetastic: I leave the best project ever, one million photos, my “friend” who likes “ice cream”, being ‘that guy’, cheerios, choreographing Cathedral, and ingenuity. I can only hope people in college are as cool as you. Sam, I thank you for working with me on that stop motion for the application-you’re the reason I won--water fights at your house, pouring over your portfolio at lunch, and being inspirational. Natalie, I leave you poems, being writing buddies, singing to you in Beppler’s class, going “Mariiaaaa...” during the announcements sophomore year, our surprise visitor at Oasis, Nipe, and Mary Had a Little Lamb. Xuyi, I leave you Asianness, math, a collegiate flow chart, and genuine thanks for your comments on that editorial. I love you, man. To Vanessa, I leave you the paper, your lemonade stands, the goodbye “party” before you went to Germany, a sometime photoshoot, the fact that I want to ravish your wardrobe, Matt Damon’s star, the exact same taste in music, and: “Hey. We’re good. It’s good between us, if ya know what I mean. And you do.” To David, I leave you being a diva, attacking your house one afternoon, that super late night conversation we had about religion, and annoyance that you stayed drier than me on that ride in California. To Phillip, I leave you “no you know whatness”, Princess Phillip, being photographers, being EICs together and bonding even though we were nervous at first, sharing the plane ride home, sentimentality at the Mellow Mushroom, and being one of the best people I worked with all year. Also, “bang!”. To Lauren, I leave you making the scavenger hunt, freshman creative writing, bonding over boys, our habit to “wear-ourhearts-on-our-sleeves”, a ferocity to live that not many people have, and a sincere hope that we get to see each other again, someday. Preferably in California. To Olivia, I leave you Rosebud, the Larssons, trick-or-treating all over Old Town, a certain puzzle, when I first saw you after I got back from Europe and I thought I would explode from happiness, dress up in the basement, dandelion picking, Arthur, and all my love. We may have drifted apart, but I remember you the most. To Gwen, I love you. I leave you Emily and haircuts, coming to my house to make that terrible, terrible cake, feeling the same way about boys, musical, and a promise to be a stand-in sister whenever you need it. To Lindsey, I leave you AP calc and being a trio of girls/sanity in a room full of testosterone and doin’ work. To Heather, I leave you your trampoline, being an exceptional model, Wagon Wheel, Shane, Open Mic Night projects, football games with Jake, and your crazy smile. To Savanah, I leave calling you the prettiest girl in our grade when we didn’t know each other in middle school, and your extensive TOMS collection. To Zach, I leave you hanging out on your porch randomly, forensics, massages, chillin’ backstage for various musicals, your amazing ability to write editorials, and almosts. To Simona, I leave you that photoshoot with Shane, mutually pretending to know what’s up in AP calc, the photobooth in the mall and the “mess” I made, and having nostalgic conversations entirely too often. To Keith, I leave you being best friends for forever, stealing my pens in Euro, holding hands while driving, holding pinkies, breakfasts, three glorious scavenger hunts, that super graphic Shakespeare play, the TA monument, parties, Querida, “Your Body’s a Wonderland”, a box of notes from you under my bed, writing letters to each other all summer even when we were in the same town, being the first person you drove with your license, voice cracks, W&M and Andy’s loud roommates, hours of conversation, dates where we actually simulated debate competitions, being one of the people who I trusted most and being there for me even when I wasn’t worth it, when you got out of the car to “fight” in the parking garage, running all over town, your church, the white couch for sleeping, the basement couch for movies, the blue couch for games, when you surprised me with cake on that snow day, the incarceration system in America, my favorite water bottle, puzzles and Christmas presents, almost being together in NY, apologies, 10,000 mix CDs, good morning texts, birthday dinners, “strawberries are aphrodisiacs”, your cooking talents (sugar loaded waffles), terrible spelling skills, the L word, an official Asian membership, a few bad days; a few tears, but infinitely many more happy days and laughter. There’s no going back, and I wouldn’t trade a day of that year and a half...and the half that followed, for anything. You’re gonna rock the world, and I will always be cheering you on. Good luck with everything. I leave you a safe spot next to my aorta and no goodbyes, because this isn’t it. I’ll see you around. To Alison, I leave you the beginning of our friendship when I asked you to sit with me at lunch, emotional talks on bus 84, blogging, staying at your house after PITS, your terrible ability to take a photo,

the men in our EIC relationships, Anaheim, talking about ‘love’ at one in the morning, being in the same piano studio and not even knowing it, being my mom in Romeo and Juliet, when I “slept” at your house and didn’t come back until 4 a.m., birthday underwear shopping, and so many more moments. Thank you for making sure that my heart didn’t override my head, and reminding me that there’s always more. You are my chaos. To Tabea, I leave you bageling, running buddies, when you came to my house with Alison and Simona to serenade me when I was grounded, long talks while running, playing piano, Jonas (hey, man!), musical and being frustrated with it, core during breaks, competition, anemia, my biggest fears that you helped me overcome, holding hands across the finish line, stories about our running in the DNR and being CHAMPS, being able to love you just the same, even if we weren’t in close proximity, and a backpacking trip across Europe. I love you. To Penton, thank you so much for pushing me to do more than what I thought I was even capable of. I wouldn’t be where I am or who I have grown into (figuratively, of course...still short), without your guidance, faith, and encouragement. Not many people have the patience and ability to trust kids, and you make everyone on staff feel like they have so much to contribute. It’s you who is leaving us with the most, rather: a sense of self, a sense of passion and confidence that not many people can inspire. You, the Newsstreak, and room 444 will always, regardless of whatever happens in the future, be the best journalism and education experience of my life, I know. And thanks for letting me push the envelope, every now and then. To my beautiful, adoring, insufferable, ridiculous little sister, I leave you Sadie. Don’t smother her with kisses too often and don’t let dad give her wine again. I leave you shouting matches, arguing over where to eat on Sundays, shotgun, you trying to get dad to play soccer as I try to get him to play football, “flush the toilet”, Jaws, numerous family vacations, sleep talking, Netflix, Family Guy, comforting me on various occasions when I have been bawling in your arms, accompanying me to the basement at Monticello and the walk I made every day to pick you up from elementary, the parade of boys through our house and the solid promise that I must approve of whoever your parade includes. He will answer to ME first, not dad, despite the distance, because that’s my duty as older sister. I leave you the McLaughlin kids--keep an eye on them for me, and especially Luke. I leave you an excellent education in music, clothes, “how to get away with shenanigans”, and a plethora of other things, but remember that you are your own person. You will grow into a beautiful young girl (though you WON’T be taller than me, contrary to popular belief), and you’re much more mature than I probably ever will be. You’re a much better older sister than I am. I love you, and I expect my room to be in mint condition when I get back. I, Emily Rutland, of loud mind and spastic body, do hereby bequeath the following items: To Mrs. Hovermale, otherwise known as Fish, I leave behind the wonderful years of gracing you with my presence and random interjections. I can’t wait to come back and visit so you can continue to live vicariously through me. To Virginia, I give a year of missing my face at school and me cheering you up when your weekend was crap. And finally, to the underclassmen, I leave behind school books filled with random smiley faces and underlined answers that helped me pass many classes. I, Bria Scott, of sophisticated mind and loving body, do hereby bequeath the following items: Pootie – Big booty wells I leave you with our memories since the start of our friendship when you were just in 8th grade. I made you first on the list because if I didn’t you’d probably beat me. I remember when we just started being friends; you were so innocent, what happened to my nice little Sydney? Over the summer when we were just getting close you went on a cruise with your family and you couldn’t use your phone for a whole week; you called me crying because we couldn’t text. I couldn’t help but laugh. That’s when you were so sweet and sooo nice! OMG Do you remember “basement, couch, bedroom, computer room” good thing we didn’t do that; that would have been very bad of us, maybe lol. Last summer, I went to the beach with you and Rae, lord did I not know what I was getting myself into with ya’ll crazies. I had a good time with my little sissys though. I’m still sorry for breaking the pickle jar. Myrtle Beach 10’=Hooters, bracelets, beach, Beth, NOPE, CAINT. I’m going to miss you tons and I love you even though you’re such a sassy you know, I’m not sure if I can say it in here so yeah lol. The last thing I leave you is the Miley picture I got you when I was in California. Oh yeah and I’ll be at your house twice a week during the summer like we planned so let Mama Wells know. Love you Snyd! Rae booboo - We’ve been close for so long I don’t even know how or when we became friends it’s kind of weird. You are probably the only person who I know who smiles ALL the time! “Is she smiling” “always” New York City was so much fun with you, Syd, and Kelsey. We snuck out of the hotel and walked around, there were some weird people too never again lol. Last summer we went to the beach and on the

probably shouldn’t have been singing in front of your grandma and she was like “well that’s unfortunate.” When I had my car we used to always just ride around and have talks about everything. We’d go to Michaels to get string and tie-dye all the time. On the first day of school this year, I locked myself out the car after we got coffee at starbucks so embarrasing. Every time I come to your room there’s something new that’s zebra so you asked me to call you ‘zeek’ because of it. You always seem to amaze me with the crazy ish’ you say, but you wouldn’t be you if you didn’t. Every time there’s a boy problem we come to each other, we always know what to say to help each other out and I love it. You are the best little sister and I’m glad I have you because sometimes I don’t know what I would do without you. I love you baby. I leave you two more years of high school. No matter how far away I am, I’ll always be here for you, so don’t forget that. Melanie- My melon, melon dome, Mel, big booty, my main B I leave you with El Charro, parties, and just one more year of high school left. Even though we haven’t been close for that long, we have so many memories that might end up forgetting and not putting them in here. When were together there’s always jokes being said. You crack me up and I crack you up. I love hanging out with you, it’s always a good time. Every Thursday in the summer we’d always watch Jersey Shore’s at Kelsey’s. We came back from the store one day and told everyone at Kelsey’s we beat cheese head up lmao. One of the funniest things I’ve ever heard. There was this one time at McDonalds, we were all sitting down eating and I yell “ That guy done picked his wedgie” hahaha. I was looking through old pictures of us and I came across that picture of Kelsey’s drink spilled all over the seat because I had ya’ll laughing so hard. You’re the best and I love you so much. Lexi- girl you are one of a kind. I leave you with shankiz because that’s plenty to deal with lol. I enjoyed hanging out with you last summer and this year. We’ll be making memories this summer before I leave little lex so don’t you worry. I liked when me, you, and Shannon would go to your house and just sleep after school. We were some bums. Shannon spoiled us a lot this year, especially always going on those back roads for us. I love you. Shankiz- I’m going to make this as short as possible because there is so much to say. I leave you with our car rides, fun nights, and all my love. So you just moved here this year and you’re the one I’m closest with, so weird. The first night we hung out we fell through three stories. Not the best way to start a friendship lol. You’re my best friend and I’m not sure what I’d do without you. If I don’t know if anyone has my back I know for sure you will. You keep it real and that’s what I love about you. We think so much alike and you always understand me. You took me to my first concert ever to see the love of my life, Lil Wayne. I had so much fun and I’ll never forget that. We’ll have to try and see Wiz over the summer. I know if I don’t want anyone to find out my business I can come to you and talk about whatever. I trust you with everything. Your car was like another closet for me lol. I mean you even let me drool in there. If I’m frizzy then so are you because we got to share always (: “Have you gone trippy trippy” At one point I moved in with you when things weren’t going so good for me and I appreciate it. I know I can ALWAYS depend on you. This summer will be great; it’s not even an option. I love you and I’ll miss you the most. Jae- Where to start...We’re not as close as before but no matter what you my sister and that will never change. We literally have been through everything together. “One night, same room & everything” (: You have my back, I have yours. We were so crazy when we were younger. If anyone was to make me cry you figure out why and would just go off on them and I loved that about you. There is never a time when I couldn’t count on you to be there when I needed you. Your mom is like another mom to me. “And today was a good day”. Your dad always asked me “who you courting now” lol I love ya’ll so much even diamond. I remember when we stole your dad’s car and rode around to pick up some lames and got pulled over. I’ll never forget that. We were wild. I used to be at your house almost every day like I lived there or something. When you lived in Massanutten one day we just decided to mow the grass in our bathing suits lol. The things we’d do I still to this day don’t understand, but it was always a good time when I was with you. I miss you a lot and I love you. Best friends forever. Nathey- Let’s see, we been close for I don’t know how many years. It’s always been hard for people to accept us, but that never made us turn on each other. We both know where we stand with each other so that’s why when people talk we pay little attention to it. You keep me on my toes and sometimes I want to beat you up when you start getting on my nerves lol. Whenever I need something, I know you got me and vise versa. There’s so much to say, I just don’t know how to word it right. I love you and you got a lot going for you. I know what you’re thinking before you say it half the time. It’s so weird how close we are. I love that I can always depend on you regardless of anything. “Noil and Boil” only we’d understand. You love to watch Forensic files now thanks to me lol ;) I used to love when you got me flowers and stuff all the time, so nice of you. Our routine last year was my favorite, on your game days we’d always go get food and just sit and talk about everything before I had to drop you back off at the school. Before the summer is over, you have to get me a huge bag of sour patches again. Our relationship has had so many ups and downs, but something that has never changed is us being best friends. I appreciate you always being here for me. I hope that doesn’t ever change. One of my

favorite memories of ours is when I went camping with you and your family. Going up to the mountain to see the waterfall was the best part. I might actually let you take me hunting one day since you have been trying to get me to go with you for so long. It’s a maybe so don’t get excited lol. Well I’m going to make this short. Keep doing your thing with baseball and I’m so proud of you for never giving up, even when things got hard. Also give you a small house beside the lake. Just a warning the lake may or may not be there and the house is invisible. Finally, I give you a rock painted like a rock so it looks like a rock, but don’t be fooled, it’s just a rock. Whenever you get into trouble in life just throw this rock at them it might help if you hit them. To Raymond Hyser, I leave you the debate team and more specifically the Public Forum teams. I also leave you sweet tea, the 4x8, and chocolate. Finally, I leave you any of my clothing you still have and my best wishes for you in life. To Daniel Roth, I leave you Latin. “Omnes diu recusabant; tandem pastor quidem ad misericordiam inductus ignem incendit. Tum, dum omnia fumo occultantur, Hercules, densa nube tectus a Iove in Olympum sublatus est.” I hope you are as successful as this man. To Hayden Rutherford, I leave you matches, bendy straws, coloring pencils, and some old pair of dentures. Why? I do not know yet. I also leave you with all my debts. still remember my happiest moment of the year 2000. To kick off the new millennium, my grandparents bought me a Game Boy Color and Pokemon Gold Version. My elation was hard to express. I was happier than a pig in mud, happier than the creepy dude in the Shamwow commercials. I couldn’t

have been happier if Jessica Alba was standing at my doorstep. Y2K what? I was battling Team Rocket, who cared about the collapse of the global infrastructure? It’s funny how much has changed since I was a kid. I only caught the end of the 90’s, so the whiplash wasn’t as bad, but still. I remember actually putting film in cameras. I remember the N64, and the “cutting edge” 8bit graphics. I remember saving my work on

floppy disks and lugging around a CD player. I remember my mom’s old Gateway and the stolid dialup. I remember watching things on VHS and the year it took to rewind them. I remember when people still paid in cash and a flat screen television was a status symbol. I remember using the cassette player in the car and a time where people other than drug dealers used pagers. Ah, those were the good ol’ days.

My first cell phone had a black and white display and the only game was snake. Now smart phones dominate the market and have tenfold the processing power of a computer made five years ago. It's impossible to live a tech-less life anymore; even

ideo games are becoming an increasingly important part of popular culture and not just a toy reserved for children. In the past few years, video games have experienced enormous growth, becoming a billion-dollar industry, which has revenues eclipsing that of Hollywood. Video games maintain significance long after high school. They have become a regular fixture for college students and are becoming increasingly popular with older consumers. Moreover, with the rise of “e-Sports”, professional gaming, viable careers have emerged not just in creating video games, but playing them as well. Past their high school years and in a period of fledgling adulthood, college students

widely enjoy playing video games, as shown by a study by the Pew Research Center. In the study, seventy percent of college students reported that they played video games at least once in a while and sixty five percent reported playing regularly or occasionally. Furthermore, far more college students reported having positive experiences with video games and video games having a positive influence on their relationships with friends than reported negative experiences. Also, the amount of time that college gamers reported that they spent studying per week was not significantly different from the time reported by all college students in general. Serving as a nice break from studying and a socializing activity, gaming has become commonplace in college life. Beyond a casual pastime, gaming has become a possible career with the rise of eSports. Elliot, a.k.a. my other half), I leave the beginning (first grade bathroom stalls, Build-a-Bear, sleepovers, trampoline incidents, Keds, P.E. partnerships, shrimp scampi with linguini, Boston misadventures, photo shoots, emails, and Ben and Marton), the middle (freshman year agony, learning to drive, roadtrips, playlists, Lost River, tie-dying, snowstorms, forking/spooning, BING!, car washes, Chinese food dates, yearly traditions, and remember-whens), and the end (because “If you live to be 100, I hope I live to be 100 minus one day...”); To Emily, I leave matching Pooh sweatsuits, preschool play-dates, pink Barbie convertibles, sophomore P.E., baseball players, Post-it notes, balloons, adorable grins, cookie skillets, bear hugs, and perfect days; To Sam, I leave the Unit Circle, frantic moments of homework-related panic, the time-space continuum (and every other physics concept I’ll never understand), badmood girl, Caleb’s hair, Barnes and Noble aisles, our crazy families, “I’m not gonna be here next year, so I don’t care!”, and the notso-distant promise of college (finally); To Isaac, I leave first block A-Days, Strawberry Shortcake gum, early bedtimes, the bucket list, and exactly sixty-seven days of summer; To Mikala, I leave bangin’ like a speakerbox, treacherous blizzard outings, “What’s hotter than the sun?”, THE LIST, our Friday Night bathroom, and a tragedy gone wrong; To Kari, I leave marching band, shared nightmares, twin flutes, the inability to be late, the Friday Night bathroom, Disney dreams, and a bashful smile; To Jessica, I leave Klines (in a cup!), Imprint insanity, semi-productive study dates, dirty-dancing cars, ridiculous boys, shopping trips, and impromptu adventures; To Maria Rose, I leave Nipe’s Creative Writing class, happy books, “Mary Had a Little Lamb,” cheesy poems, blog posts, PITS, e.e. cummings, Banana Pancakes, mix CDs, Fielding projects, glowing, and a sly wink from across the room; To Gwen, I leave WA-HOO-WA, twin days, hallway hugs, and the Charlie’s Angels pose; To Tabea, I leave shared AP US brainwaves, physically painful physics equations, and a Charlotte road trip; To Olivia, I leave sudoku puzzles, “Adjustment Bureau” moments, Foodgawker, and the world’s best mac and cheese; To Gina and Katrina, I leave online

nap-time, StumbleUpon, baby foxes, and a nonexistent mini giraffe; To Matt, I leave a conversation studded with big words, sarcastic comments, and the race to finish last night’s homework; To Caleb, I leave a bear hug, today’s cryptoquote, and a half-finished crossword puzzle; To Zack, I leave courthouse shenanigans and a wedding ring; To Tara, I leave Wilbur’s dissection, exploding Bunsen burners, and a dozen more haphazard lab episodes; To Jennifer, I leave the awkward moment following an awkward phrase at the end of a perfectly innocent conversation; To Desta and Emily, I leave another dollar for another bag of cookies and another absolutely hilarious, perfectly unproductive fourth block; To Xuyi, I leave diva moments, “carpooling,” and unfathomably epic Team Amazetastic productions; To Stees, I leave Candyland, play dates, Tueting’s tirades, 2 A.M. peppermints, and the still-buried time capsule; To Bobby, I leave a single raised eyebrow and a “sassy” comment; To Thomas, I leave a Joshua Radin song, Thai Cafe dates, and an obsolete reference to Lost; To Emelyn, I leave impromptu concerts in AP Stats, a catchy refrain, and a saucy comeback; To Margaret, I leave play-group playdates, birthday celebrations, and board game tournaments; And to Heidi, I leave slip-and-slides and snow forts, dress-up and Barbies, matching Easter dresses, “nests,” trips to the library, speeding to school, dishwashing duets, and our lovably awkward family. Take note: I do not leave you my room, my closet, or my furniture (but I do leave you my AP Euro notes, my half of the bathroom sink, and my attentive ear, because I’m only a phone call away). Don’t decide to take school serious your junior year if you plan on going to a hard college. Also don’t get caught up in high school drama, it’s a complete waste of time..” -Bria Scott "Enjoy your time here at HHS. Just have fun and be yourself, everyone else is taken." -Melissa McDuffee High school goes fast, so make the best of it and do what makes you happy. -Rachel O’Connor “If you want a good high school experience, open yourself up to people. Don't get caught up in drama or cliques or whatever (though cliques aren't much of a problem at HHS). Be nice (but still have a bit of wild side), because people really do appreciate it, and hopefully a good rapport will develop among you, your classmates, and your teachers. Since you're stuck at HHS by law for at least two years, you might as well have good relationships with the people around you.” -Zach McDonnell

Anunsit Wongsirikul says...Ms. Antonnicola’s English class

I also want to thank Mrs. Kibler, the most influential teacher of my high school career. You are the reason I decided to become a teacher. Through Renaissance, you made me a part of this school, and through AP English 11, you taught me how to write. Most importantly, you always expected the most from me and challenged me to live up to those expectations. Thank you! -Charity O’Connor

“I would like to thank Mr.Shaffer, Mrs.Fisher(hoovermale) and Mrs. Faulkner! Those were my favorite teachers during high school and I enjoyed having their classes.” -Max Solomon

“because even when we mess around we still get things done.”

Maria Rose says...Tueting’s AP U.S. History Class “Tueting's AP US History class opened my eyes to new ways of thinking and analyzing not just new information, but the deeper connections to it.
