An Eye On Beauty

Photographer Antoine Verglas, born in Paris, based in New York City. He has a sharp eye and captures the essence of the person in front of his lens, be it in the studio or in nature— especially the beaches and rugged landscapes of Saint Barth, where he spends part of the year. Aesthetically savvy, he moves fluidly through the world of fashion, often doing magazine shoots for with star models for lingerie and swimwear, as well as haute couture for such publications as Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, Esquire, GQ Maxim, Sports Illustrated, Vogue, and others.

Verglas attended France’s prestigious E.S.C. business school. After graduating, he started his career on the other side of the camera as a host for a popular French television show, later transitioning into fashion photography. Early in his career, he worked with budding supermodels at their homes, adding Linda Evangelista, Stephanie Seymour, Claudia Schiffer, and Cindy Crawford to his portfolio of stunning black and white

images that appeared in French Elle . His technique is to find lighting that embellishes his subjects and enhances their beauty.

Inspired by certain photographers like Peter Lindberg, Patrick Demarchelier, and Herb Ritts, Verglas likes true, natural beauty, as well as high fashion and elegance. He spends his time between St. Barth, East Hampton, Paris, and New York City, with his wife, Christiane Celle, and two sons, Julien and Adrien. In 2008, after selling Calypso St. Barth, he and Celle co-founded the concept store, Clic Gallery. Verglas has published two books of his work: “Showgirl” (Gravure 2011) and “Untitled” (Clic 2013).

More recently the photographer has turned to filmmaking, and Antoine Verglas Studio Productions opened the LA Shorts Fest with Green Kola , a film he produced and stars in. Green Kola won the Grand Jury Prize, out of 80 films, for Best Short Film at the Paris Independent Film Festival, Best Comedy Short Film at the Manhattan Film Festival, and Special Jury Award Honorable Mention at the Be Epic London Film Festival. He is now working on a feature movie, A Hollywood Story. All in the “Verglas Signature” style!
