t our Mediterranean villa-style sanctuary, we’ve mastered the art of

slowing down so guests can make the most of each moment. Whether you’re embracing health and fitness resolutions or simply taking a step back from the nonstop pace of daily life, we want to be there to help along the way. In this issue, you’ll read about the launch of our new wellness program, which takes a 360-degree approach to active—and present—living. If you’ve stayed with us before, you may have cycled on a Peloton bike watching the waves lapping in the distance from our oceanfront fitness center or danced to Latin beats during a morning Zumba class. Through our AcquaFit wellness initiatives, you can tone and shape your body during a Body Sculpting class. There’s AcquaFit-branded water bottles and caps making it easy to stay hydrated and protected from the sun while enjoying our Great Outdoors. You’ll hear from our Paris-born spa director, Catherine Davalle, on some of the ways guests can practice stillness and create positive affirmations through spa activities like mindfulness coloring. At Acqualina, breakfast is one of the reasons worth waking up early—especially when you can indulge in a spread of classics like made-to-order omelets, croissants, and fresh-off-the-griddle pancakes. Spanning across the resort’s modern dining room and the Italian palazzo-inspired, al fresco oceanfront terrace, breakfast at Acqualina is an experience you’ll want to linger over. From 7 a.m to 11 a.m. each day, hotel guests, residents, and locals can feast on a menu spearheaded by chef Glen Carnagie and managed by Anabel Ruiz.

There’s eggs, bacon, fruit, and pastries, and options like healthy smoothies and pressed juices, fruit salad with yogurt, a granola bowl with mixed berries, or savory favorites like avocado toast with two sunny-side-up eggs drizzled with citrus vinaigrette. For something truly decadent, order the brioche French toast with strawberries and maple syrup or the salmon eggs benedict bathed in hollandaise sauce. For those looking for vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free options, Acqualina’s breakfast menu has plenty of alternatives, so you can have your pancakes or pastries and eat them, too. An indulgent addition to enhance your suite stay at Acqualina, many of the resort’s packages and offers include a daily breakfast for two.

Known for its expertly crafted dishes that rival the best in Italy, showstopping tableside presentations, and an outdoor terrace overlooking the beach, Il Mulino New York is a longtime fixture at Acqualina Resort & Residences.

Part of the restaurant’s longstanding charm is its ability to constantly evolve while staying true to the things beloved by its loyal clientele. The restaurant continues to elevate the guest experience with exciting new enhancements, fresh menus and a new Happy Hour.

South Florida’s weather only gets better during the winter months, and guests who are fond of dining outdoors can now soak up the cool breezes and blue skies thanks to Il Mulino’s state-of-the-art retractable roof. The new roof enables the restaurant to increase its seating capacity on the outdoor terrace, so more diners can take advantage of the covetable weather and incredible views. During the daytime, bask in the warm sunshine that floods the space from the open-air roof; in the evenings, savor a meal under the glow of the moon. If it rains or is too cold or warm — the retractable roof slides into place, sheltering diners from the weather.

No matter the time of the day, there are delicious reasons to dine at Il Mulino, where 90% percent of the ingredients are imported from Italy. The restaurant provides an elegant midday escape with formal white tablecloths and tuxedo-clad waiters who cater to every whim. For lunch, diners will find lighter fare from salads to a mozzarella caprese and smaller versions of beloved dishes such as the branzino. For Happy Hour, Il Mulino now offers a daily celebration from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with delectable bites, crafted cocktails and a selection of wines by the glass.

There’s no better backdrop at the golden hour, when diners can indulge in a special Sunset Menu while taking in the beach views as the sun sinks into the horizon. The 3- course dining experience, priced at $58 per person, includes highlights such as a roast beet salad, creamy mushroom risotto crowned with black truffle, and a velvety gelato.

The Sunset Menu is available Sunday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

When the sun goes down, expect dinner and a show as waiters showcase skilled tableside presentations including house-made pastas, dover sole, and a flambe with oranges soaked in Grand Marnier. Begin or end the meal with one of Il Mulino’s seasonal craft cocktails starring house-made syrups and infused liquors and created by our master mixologist.

The aquamarine marble is a design staple within the Acqualina property because of its placid and elegant aesthetic that is reminiscent of the turquoise sea found within steps of the resort. We can’t wait to see Acqualina guests sporting these pieces. FOUNDING SUN LOVIN’ ROOTS Frustrated with the lack of durability and vibrancy in the fitness wear industry, I founded the company in 2015 in hopes of revolutionizing athleisure with color, fun, and functionality. Sun Lovin’ Roots is more than a brand; it’s a community and a vibe. NAVIGATING FUNCTIONALITY, COMFORT, AND AESTHETICS To ensure functionality within the limited-edition collection of leggings and bras, I use high-quality materials that can withstand intense workouts, such as moisture-wicking fabrics that keep the body dry and cool. Comfort is another crucial factor in my designs. I ensure that my clothing has a comfortable fit that allows for a full range of motion. I use soft, breathable fabrics that feel good against the skin and hug your curves in all the right places. CATERING TO ACQUALINA’S CLIENTELE The AcquaFit collection focuses on simple, timeless designs with a predominant use of white, ensuring alignment with the luxury aesthetic of Acqualina Resort’s guests. SUSTAINABILITY IN FASHION Sun Lovin’ Roots is a made-to-order company, meaning that we never mass produce, so every item that goes out the door is made with love- which is unique for this industry. Our activewear also provides over 50+ UV protection, making it safe to exercise outdoors while protecting your skin from harmful UV rays. ACQUAFIT COLLECTION INCLUSIONS The collection features a range of items from leggings and sports bras (limited editions) to yoga mats and water bottles, catering to diverse fitness and leisure needs.

THE VERSATILITY OF ACQUAFIT PIECES Emphasizing the “live in your activewear” concept, I envision guests stylishly transitioning from fitness routines to social settings in these designs. A SPECIAL PIECE IN THE COLLECTION The legging/bra set, embodying the AcquaFit brand’s essence with its marble print motif, symbolizes the journey of Acqualina guests from the moment they step into the resort. FUTURE TRENDS AND INNOVATIONS FOR THE ACQUAFIT COLLECTION I have created a community of brand “besties” vs just one-time customers. This approach has allowed my brand to grow over the years and expand without focusing so much on trends. I would personally love to design more legging/bra sets and play around more with the marble print. I am already thinking about the next collection.

MEDITATION SESSIONS Accessible through the Acqualina App, guided meditations led by expert Sarah Vie are available for practice either in private rooms or at specific spots across the resort. These meditations, ranging from morning sessions to encourage a positive start to the day, to afternoon and evening practices for rejuvenation and restful sleep, are designed to cultivate calmness and tranquility. The meditation choices include themes of mind/body connection, release, and revitalization. Additionally, a unique “Sparkle and Shine” meditation caters specifically to younger guests, ensuring a peaceful experience for all ages. MINDFULNESS FEATURES At Acqualina Spa, guests can enjoy new mindfulness elements within the Relaxation Lounges to complement their spa journey and promote overall wellness. Affirmation cards offer uplifting messages to inspire positivity and reflection. A relaxing activity, coloring mandalas helps with concentration, creativity, and tranquility. To encourage guests to embrace stillness, the relaxation lounges are designed for peacefulness, offering the perfect setting for practicing calmness through deep breathing, meditation, and various calming postures, or simply by soaking in the serene environment. Sony noise-canceling headsets are provided for a focused and serene experience in the serene ambiance of the Spa lounges.

HOTZE WORKED AT ACQUALINA AS HOTEL MANAGER WHEN THE PROPERTY LAUNCHED IN 2006, PLAYING AN INTEGRAL ROLE IN ITS OPENING TEAM. HOTZE RETURNS TO THE ACQUALINA TEAM WITH THE SAME STEADFAST DEDICATION HE SHOWED TO THE RESORT NEARLY TWO DECADES AGO WITH HIS INNATE ABILITY TO ANTICIPATE NEEDS AND CARE FOR GUESTS AND EMPLOYEES. Where are you from? I was born and raised in Kiel in northern Germany. I lived in London and Puerto Rico before coming to Miami in 2000. I then lived in the U.S. Virgin Islands and New York before returning to South Florida.

How has Acqualina evolved over the years since you initially joined the team? What has remained the same?

What would you say guests are most impressed or surprised by during their stay at Acqualina?

Acqualina’s vision has always been to be a five-star, five-diamond market leader in Miami. I am delighted to rejoin this team and be part of further successes.

Guests are most impressed by our outstanding service. Our guests and residents recurringly list that the standout aspect of our resort is the service and the friendly, helpful attitude of our Team Members and their willingness to go above and beyond in providing anticipatory service. A building can be beautiful, but the soul of that building is the people. The serenity! It is awe-inspiring to see for the first time.

Describe your role as VP and GM. My primary role is overseeing the Resort and Residences day-to-day operations. This includes hiring, training, and ensuring our service and standards are constantly implemented. I am also responsible for planning future operations. We need to look for the next best thing but also be flexible, to take situations head-on and find solutions.

How do you ensure you are always exceeding guest expectations? You have to be visible, to meet and talk with team members, guests, and residents - Communication is key.

Can you give an example of a time you went above and beyond for a guest? During my time at Acqualina, I was also in the process of assuming responsibilities for Caneel Bay in the U.S. Virgin Islands and I had the pleasure of encountering a lovely Italian couple who was traveling to Miami. Unfortunately, their flight had been delayed due to bad weather coming from the U.S. Virgin Islands. Through our conversation, they shared their predicament of being unable to secure any accommodation amidst the flight delay. In response, I promptly reached out to my team at Acqualina, and together we successfully arranged room reservations for them. Even now, they’ve never let me forget how grateful they were.

Where are you from originally and how long have you livedin Miami? I was born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia and have been living in Miami for the past 10 years. What is the first thing you make sure to do when you arrive for work at The Mansions and how do you set your day up to run smoothly? The first thing I do when I arrive at work is make sure I have everything set up and all of the necessary tools prepared for the day ahead at our restaurant. I also like to communicate with my teammates and managers about our day in case we have any unusual or special events to think about so that we can make sure we are as prepared as possible for them. This way, the whole team – myself included – are in the best position to ensure that the day flows as smoothly as possible and we all possess the optimal mindset to meet all of our guests’ expectations. What do you find to be most unique and special about the atmosphere at The Mansions at Acqualina? What I find most unique about working at The Mansions is the feeling of family we all have here. Because we are more than just a team here – we really support one another. We share our happiness and difficult moments with each other and this sense of community and family very much extends to our beloved residents, as well. At The Mansions, I don’t consider myself simply as a worker, I consider myself as a family member with a real sense of responsibility for every element of the larger Acqualina family. This is the mindset behind everything I do to fulfill the needs of our residents. Share with us a request from a resident that was particularly challenging and how you were able to make it happen. A few months back a resident was trying to order a specific and rare wine which we happened to not have in stock. It was for a special celebration for his wife and I really wanted to help him fulfill this request. Even though it was not available at our restaurant, I ordered the bottle from at another venue and brought it to our resident as a surprise. He was so grateful that I made this happen and kept thanking me all evening long. What do you find most rewarding about working at The Mansions at Acqualina?

There are so many parts of my day that leave me feeling fulfilled at the end of the day, but in the end, the smiles of our residents are the best reward for my hard work at Acqualina. I do believe that happiness is contagious and the joy you feel from helping fulfill our residents’ needs extends across the entire Acqualina community. What is your top trick for making sure you know everything about everything that impacts your job and residents’ well-being? It may seem obvious, but my top trick is to maintain a positive attitude even during the difficult days. A positive mindset will help you overcome the unexpected challenges. In addition, it’s essential to maintain clear and open lines of communications between team members. In the end, the best way for me to be effective is to ensure everyone is aware of everyone’s tasks and objectives because in the end, we are all so much more effective if we work as one Acqualina team.

Where are you from? Jamaica. Describe your role at The Estates at Acqualina. As the Pool and Beach Manager, I am responsible for ensuring that the pool and beach areas are up to Acqualina’s high standards and that my team is providing satisfactory and anticipatory service to each and every resident. I motivate my team to enhance our service with genuine happiness. This department is very service-oriented and requires consistent walk-throughs of the outdoor areas. But you can’t beat the luxurious scenery!

We are constantly creating new ideas to enhance our service and the resident experience.

How do you ensure you and your team are always exceeding guests’ expectations? We have daily pre- and post-shift meetings to discuss opportunities for improvement. We are constantly creating new ideas to enhance our service and the resident experience. Can you give an example of a time you went above and beyond for a resident? After creating a personal connection with a resident, he told me it was his birthday. I had the bartender prepare two glasses of wine and a fruit platter. We presented them to him with the team singing “Happy Birthday,” which he loved. Is there anything people might not know about The Estates at Acqualina’s pool and beach areas? We have a FlowRider surfing simulator! If you moved into The Estates, where would you most likely be found among the luxurious amenities? I would be at the pool and beach area. or the Pritchett family a visit to Acqualina always feels like coming home. Family matriarch Kelly was born in South Florida, which is why the journey to the Miami region remains special year after year.

Open a dictionary and search for the phrase “repeat guests” and you’re bound to find the Pritchetts. The family – Kelly, husband Jon and their daughters Alexandra and Christina — have been coming to Acqualina since 2009. For them, each stay at Acqualina feels like an escape to a tranquil new world – albeit one they know well and have loved since moment one.

The first thing that struck us was the sheer beauty of the hotel, beautifully positioned along the pristine shoreline. The Mediterranean-style architecture and design exuded sophistication and created an immediate and lasting impression. Kelly Pritchett recalls.

What does it mean to be a Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star property?

Our annual Star Rating announcement covers hotels, restaurants, spas and — as of 2023 — ocean cruise ships in more than 80 countries and counting and our annual Awards list is online at forbestravelguide.com. There are only 358 Five-Star hotels in the world.

What differentiates a Five-Star FTG award from other hotel awards? Our highly trained inspectors visit every property we rate, always anonymously and as a typical guest. A full resort evaluation of hotel, restaurant and spa consists of more than 900 standards. But where our system stands apart from others is our emphasis on service and guest experience, which makes up 70% of a property’s final score. And you don’t just earn your rating once and carry on. We revisit every property cyclically, and they must achieve the same level of excellence to keep their rating.

Integrity is crucial to what we do. Our inspectors travel under different profiles—single, couples, families. It’s important that we don’t represent just one kind of traveler and that we aren’t predictable to the properties. Also, our inspectors do not assign the rating. In fact, they never even see the score. Instead, when the evaluation is submitted, it goes through our proprietary scoring algorithm, and it’s that score that determines the rating.

What is the history of the Five-Star award? I’m glad you asked, because we created the first Five-Star rating for hospitality back when our company was Mobil Travel Guide. Mobil started the guide in 1958 to encourage drivers to explore America’s growing interstate highway system – and to buy more gas, of course. At the start, the ratings went from one to four stars. The fifth star was added in 1960. We became Forbes Travel Guide in 2009 and shifted from printed guidebooks to all digital as we expanded globally.

How has FTG helped properties improve? Back when we were Mobil Travel Guide, the ratings were opaque — no one knew what we were looking for, and, if you earned a rating, you’d have no way of knowing if you just barely got it, or if maybe you were close to the next level. For nearly 20 years, we have offered transparency to properties that want to understand more about the standards and how the ratings are earned.

How has the ratings system evolved over the years? We now include sustainability standards in our rating evaluations, and within the past few years, we started assessing wellness standards too. We look at the availability of fitness options, healthful food choices, and even aspects of the experience that affect your quality of sleep.

What’s new at Forbes Travel Guide? We have been focused on expanding awareness of Forbes Travel Guide Star Ratings in the luxury travel advisor community. We are growing an incredible community of travel agencies and advisors who are thrilled that our independent and trusted rating process can help them find the best hotels and resorts for their most discerning clients. Advisors can’t visit every hotel everywhere their clients go, so we fill a gap for them. It’s another way that we celebrate and support the work that incredible hotels and resorts like Acqualina are doing day in and day out to deliver amazing guest experiences.

The spirit of giving comes to natural at Acqualina Resort & Residences on the Beach and in the Greater Miami area. Generous philanthropists donated nearly $1 million at the annual “I Have a Dream” Foundation Miami Gala last November. The beloved extravaganza, held at The Diplomat Beach Resort, benefited the “I Have a Dream” Foundation Miami Dreamers class of 2032. Acqualina’s Stephanie, Jules, and Eddie Trump founded the Miami-Dade chapter of the Foundation in 1995, which provides children in low-income communities with academic and socio-emotional support to pursue their dreams of higher education. The Foundation also guarantees the children’s academic tuition at a Florida state university for a four-year degree or at an accredited trade school.

The glamorous gala was sprinkled with uplifting moments from heartfelt speeches by current and past Dreamers who shared their life experiences and success stories thanks to the program, as well as inspirational song and dance performances by the kids and Miami artist Cameron Wheeler. The 650 guests in attendance were treated to an indulgent four-course meal and participated in silent and live auctions with prizes that ranged from international luxury getaways to pampering spa packages. In unveiling Spectre, Rolls-Royce sets a new precedent in the creation of an entirely original class of motor car: the Ultra-Luxury Electric Super Coupé. This designation refers to Spectre’s indulgent proportions, specified in response to a commitment that there is no greater luxury than that of space.

The marque’s designers are deeply rooted in the context occupied by their motor cars. Therefore, their inspiration is drawn from worlds far beyond automotive, including haute couture, modernist sculpture, nautical design, tailoring and contemporary art. In conceiving the principal sketches for Spectre, the marque’s creatives were drawn to modern yacht concepts, specifically the clarity and precision of line, intelligent use of reflection and application of taper to emotionalise silhouettes. For Spectre, Rolls-Royce’s engineers have seen much of their discipline pivot from the workshop to the digital space. Spectre is the most connected Rolls-Royce in history, and in harnessing the power of the motor car’s remarkable Decentralised Intelligence processing capabilities there is more requirement than ever for expert human experience.

In 2021, Richard Mille and Ferrari, driven by their shared quest for perfection, joined forces to create a long-term partnership. Naturally, Richard Mille felt compelled to celebrate this budding relationship by creating an exceptional timepiece. After many years of development, the RM UP-01 Ferrari has emerged, breaking with the Swiss watchmaker’s usual iconography while remaining faithful to its identity, and once again pushing the envelope by taking up the ultra-flat challenge.

WITH THE RM UP-01 FERRARI, RICHARD MILLE IS PROUD TO PRESENT AN ULTRA-FLAT WATCH JUST 1.75 MILLIMETERS THICK. WORKING COLLABORATIVELY ALONGSIDE THE FERRARI TEAM, EXPRESSED MAINLY IN THE CHOICES OF MATERIALS AND THE LINES OF THE WATCH, LENT THE PROJECT PRECISELY THE COMPETITIVE SPIRIT SO ESSENTIAL TO MOST EXCITING ADVENTURES.

The quest to reduce thickness of a watch is one of absolutes, the very conception of many components had to be entirely revisited. The approach selected was to distribute across a large surface area the elements that could no longer be stacked, creating a greater symbiosis between the movement and the titanium case, which mutually stiffens each other. The extremely demanding brief made the movement’s performance a priority, meaning it would have to be a caliber both extremely thin
