Activities The St Regis Aspen Resort is located at the base of the Aspen Mountains in the epicenter of a whirlwind of sports activities. First and foremost is world-class skiing, from Snowmass to Aspen Mountain to Aspen Highlands to Buttermilk, with four great areas open from mid-November to mid-April. Other times of the year, guests can enjoy tennis, fly fishing, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, hiking, hot air ballooning, paragliding, clay target shooting, and rock climbing, or off-road 4-wheel-drive tours and take in the magnificent local scenery.

aspen Aspen is situated along the Roaring Fork River in the Rocky Mountains at an elevation of almost 8,000 feet above sea level. Founded as a mining camp and later named “Aspen� because of the abundance of aspen trees in the area, the town boomed in the mid-20th century when neighboring Aspen Mountain was developed into a leading ski resort and industrialist Walter Paepcke developed many properties. In the late 20th century, the city became a popular retreat for musicians, movie stars, and corporate executives, and remains a popular tourist destination, with outdoor recreation serving as a summertime complement to the four ski areas in the vicinity.
