CURATORIAL

"Wood - Outside and Inside" When we look at these artists' very different stories and styles, only their common medium, natural wood, bridges these two spirits, which can be seen deep in their art and brings the observer to a new dimension of human awareness. Alla Dulh is an artist from Saint-Petersburg who finds inspiration in the natural patina of age old wood, which she found throughout more than thirty countries during her travels the last ten years. Her talent is seeing inside the character of the old wood and carefully drawing it out, accentuating it, with long - lasting traditional oil paints in a realistic manner. She finds the woods hidden nature. One of her pieces is a wise pendeta priest with genta - bell who is leading a Balinese ceremony, painted on an old mahogany panel, invoking the intensity of Balinese religious faith. Another is a couple who are stuck in love on the imperfect shape of frangipani wood, creating a feeling of the real and pure life. Alla has exhibited her artworks in solo and group exhibitions globally. She's been painting for nine years and her artworks can be found in different private and museum collection around the world. I Made Ade is a third generation wood carver master from Pakuduli village near Tegallalang. He has created mighty Balineses Gods and folk mythical creatures out of the best wood that can be found. His works are done with the highest detailed perfection and can be found in many of the best museums and private collections around the world. In this exhibition he and his master craftsmen present some of the best sculpture from various times and epochs. Both artists work with wood and both of them try to express God's perfection in their own manner and style. Made', whose statues are perfect monuments of the Gods and mythic creatures of Bali and Alla, who shows realistic people on the path or state of connecting with God. Synthesis of them both become a perfect combination of the God and the believer, perfection of Heaven and the imperfection of everyday life, it's what makes fullness of higher state of fine art. ADDENDUM

Alla Dulh creates from the intersection of nature and spirit, her paintings are a spontaneous expression of a state of open channel, of no-mind. She is dreaming the images without knowing how the visuals got there, she paints without rational control. She says in painting she moves from concentration and control to a point of losing control and then continues painting without knowing. Alla's subject matter depicts various means toward this clarity of awareness, visual images of spiritual practices in action toward achieving the clear and open mind. Eyes and hands, monks and musicians, elemental figures in various states of the meditative mind. You could say her paintings are channeled from this meditative consciousness, a clear uninhibited and most natural awareness. Her work inspires this state in the viewer, the visual representation stays true, showing the clarity from which it was created. One can't help but experience this state of presence when witnessing Alla's paintings. Alla Dulh paints on natural-aged wood surfaces as if to emphasize a concrete relationship between her subjects and the simplicity of what is, the images emanate from the substance of living organic material. Alla says, “For me, the way of art of is going to the God, not coming from the God, not analyzing your own fears, your individual story. Art goes to the substance of the universe, and answers the questions what we are and what is around us.” Jeremiah Abrams psychologist and author
