MP Life Vest

Padded garment in 2 sections 2 sunglasses pockets with zingers 1 Tray unit with 3 small pockets 2 box units with adjustable compartments 1 large unit on the back for gear 1 Strap system

The “MP Life Vest” can be used on its own over your normal clothing when wading, boating, or sailing, etc.

For deep wading, turn up the pockets and place the foldable tray on front. For light wading, the smaller section with the foldable tray fits neatly onto your waders Safety Regulations are becoming stricter these days in most water sports, including fishing. Having to wear a fishing vest plus a life vest can be very uncomfortable. Our MP Life Vest is specifically designed to overcome this problem. It inflates automatically, whenever needed. The MP Life Vest can be worn on its own, or you can attach one or more sections of the FV-200 fishing vest to carry extra gear should you need it – it’s so versatile! The MP-Life Vest can be used on its own; the vest conforms to the ISO 12402-3 ANNEX ZA Level 150 N norm. The MP-Life Vest uses standard replacement gas cartridges found in most water sport shops or purchased from us.

FBX fly box is designed for the FV-200 vest; the half box is attached with Velcro™ in the fold-down tray. The Y-section foam is ideal for barbless hooks. With 188 foam slots, the FBX box can easily hold 100 or more trout flies. FBR 1 and 2, perfect standard fly boxes, light weight, with transparent lids.

FBX – Fly box 95 x 95 x 25 mm 188 foam slots.

AA6 – AMADOU sheet 105 x 150 mm

Favoured by many anglers for over a century, AMADOU is one of the best materials for drying flies while still protecting the hackle. Our AMADOU is obtained from sustainable sources and receives a special treatment to make it soft –- ideal for CDC flies. Smaller pieces of amadou can be cut from the large sheets of raw material (AA6). The DA1 Dryer is best we have seen. It is a stylish accessory and the two waterproof leather sides help keep the amadou clean and dry, especially from wet fingers. The DC1 Dryer uses four layers of chamois and absorbs a lot of water. It is a good alternative to amadou, but not as soft.

FBR1 – Fly box 84 x 84 x 22 mm 60 foam slots.

FBR2 – Fly box 165 x 84 x 20 mm 120 foam slots.

MagiC tool The Magic Tool is undoubtedly an indispensable tool for every fly tier. It will enable you to tie all kinds of flies and to use many components at one and the same time very easily. You can create any pattern you can possibly think of which, up until now, you may not have been able to visualize. Mixing different feathers (soft or stiff), natural or synthetic dubbing – the Magic Tool will do the trick! A whole new world of flies with exciting colours and materials will be opened up to you. The idea is simple. It consists of placing all the materials needed for a fly (dubbing, hackles, CDC feathers, etc.) in one of the 3 special clips.

MT1 (regular) 3 table clips (28, 35 and 45 mm) – 2 clamps ( 45, 55 mm) 3 dowels ( 10, 12, 15 mm) – User manual included

MT2 (large) 1 table clip (65 mm) – 1 clamp (78 mm) 3 dowels ( 10, 12, 15 mm) – User manual included

All the components are then aligned, trimmed and transferred from the clip to one of the two special clamps. The materials held by the clamp are then placed into a dubbing loop and this “hackle substitute” is wrapped around the shank of the hook simple! The Magic Tool comes with table clips, clamps and full instructions. Three wooden dowels are also supplied to help with winding and cutting synthetic material such as Flashabou and Crystal Flash in small strands of exactly the same size.

We have developed a range of unique fly tying tools, based on 15 years experience. We have tried to create an organic harmony between form and function. MP TT Bobbin (#25): The bobbin of bobbins. You could thread this bobbin without even looking and can also adjust the thread tension to your liking. Thread spool replacement is effortless. The MP Bobbin incorporates a wire loop for thread dubbing loops and spins perfectly on its axis.

On the left side

Clamp (#10) : specially designed to partially close a dubbing loop to incorporate a second or third component.

Pefectly balanced

Needle (#20) : sharp with a short handle, this needle is perfect to split the tying thread. MP-Pliers (#30): specially designed to grip up to 3 CDC feathers at a time. The spring grip system does not damage the stems yet holds them firmly. Pat. Pending Whip-finisher (#40) : the design allows you to tie tiny knots, especially useful for small hook sizes. The tool rotates through the handle.

During the next decade, we are sure that many great patterns will be developed. The secret of good fly tying is to use top quality materials. We pride ourselves in providing the fly tying world with the best CDC feathers available, both natural (in white, beige, and dark-black) as well as in a variety of dyed colours.

The characteristics of CDC (Croupion De Canard) Light and soft material. Tough and strong fibers. Semi-translucent ; flies tied with CDC have a more life-like quality than flies tied with other, more opaque materials. Highly aerodynamic ; when cast, the CDC collapses but, at the end of the cast, it expands acting as a parachute as the fly descends to the water. It therefore makes casting easier and fly presentation more delicate. Highly hydrodynamic – under water every filament pulsates with life even in the gentlest flow or on the slowest retrieve. Folds like real fly tissue when a fish takes a CDC fly into its mouth. In this way, fish accept CDC flies more readily, and are much slower to reject them, than ones made of harder materials.

In addition to this, our Magic Tool technology gives us a whole new range of opportunities, mixing colours and components, both natural and new.

In order to preserve the very fine structure of our CDC feathers, we have developed our own, secret and unique production processes. Unlike other manufacturers, we specify that no detergents, acids, or excessive heating is used. In addition, we have special finishing processes that ensure our CDC feathers are the very best.

5g 1g CDC oil The CDC oil is used as a protecting “barrier” cream. A drop on the body of your flies will protect them from fish slime. The oil comes in a small bottle which can be attached to your vest.

Generally our larger flies incorporate different materials for different effects. For example, Ice FIBER fishes differently to Ice FUR. However, all our materials have just the right amount of pliability, neither too soft nor too stiff and we choose the right amount (quantity & length) to get the right FISH-CATCHING effect in the water. Just try our flies in the water margin before fishing; you’ll be amazed at their action. Magic Head & Synthetics

CDC Flies: why, when and how?

Since 1990, I have created a comprehensive series of CDC flies that cover the entire range of trout flies, at all stages and for nearly all situations. You will notice that the flies are numbered rather than named. This is because there is often very little to distinguish between the sub-imago stages of different species, so giving different names to, what would essentially be the same fly, would be impractical. Similarly, in Europe, for example, there are tens of species named Baetis, yet they are all small to medium sized flies with olive and blue wings. For us fly tiers (and anglers!) the most important characteristic to get right is the silhouette of the fly. In general, this is determined by two factors - the type of fly we are trying to imitate, and its life-cycle stage. For example, Mayfly, Caddis, Stoneflies, and terrestrials all have different shapes. Within each of these groups, different stages in their life cycle will present the fly tier with a completely different set of patterns to tie. Lastly, but still important, the size of fly should be chosen and its colour.

of your dry flies. Once you have caught a fish, the following action will help clean any fish slime off CDCtreated flies. First, strip off about 3 meters of line and cast forward forcefully so that the fly hits the water hard and sinks. Let it sink about 30cm, point the rod at the fly and take up any slack line so that the line, rod, and arm are all in line. At this point raise the rod sharply so that the fly moves quickly through the water so removing any slime from the CDC-protected fly. For small flies (size #14 and smaller) we recommend that a few rapid false casts will be enough to dry your CDC-treated fly sufficiently well to be cast out again. For larger sizes, clean it in the water and use the amadou to dry it. CDC is by far the best substance to give the illusion of a natural live insect above, as well as below, the surface.

After tying on a dry fly, apply just one drop of our CDC oil to the body of the fly. As well as waterproofing the fly, it will protect it against fish slime, acting as a kind of “barrier cream”. This will significantly enhance the durability

The Magic Head will change the way you fish and the way fish react to your flies. The versatile Magic Head can be fished pointing backwards, giving your flies a normal streamer-style, up and down head action; or they can be flipped forwards, giving your patterns more side-to-side action.

Advantages Recommendations - Soft and lightweight head - Straight eye hooks are recommended - Does not reduce the gap of hooks specially for small sizes. - Streamer action and wiggling action - When you need to weight your flies: - Made from a non-toxic component • You can use brass or tungsten eyes below - Easy to tie the hook shank. - Does not need a rotating device • Or use heavy wires along the hook shank - Will not break or damage the tip of your and bend. rod (if accidentally wound back into the • Or apply a bead up to the eye before rod tip) applying the Magic Head. • Tying materials on top will keep the weight of the hook bend balanced with the Magic Tool

Start by forming a layer of thread, push the Magic Head over the hook eye, secure with some wraps of tying thread, then complete the fly. Straight shank hooks recommended.

Adjust the size of the Magic Head to the hook size by cutting down, following the edge. Cutting, on the weighted side, we will increase the wiggling effect by 30%.
