ION PROJECT LIGHTING DESIGN by Caroline Ficker
CONCEPT ION is an atom or set of atoms electrically charged and formed by the loss or gain of electrons. These atoms do not bind aiming stability, but by affinity, attraction, since their initial formation is already stable. ION luminaires were created based on these fundamentals. It is a combined system, inspired by the concept of modular furniture, where a module itself already characterizes a product, but can “attract other modules, resulting in unusual shapes. The triangular configuration of the modules, allows infinite connections, creating true light sculptures.
MATERIALS Beauty and originality of the luminaires is also related to the choice of materials. For each piece to become unique, we offer customization, which becomes feasible by working with specialized labor and different materials, such as wood, marble, onyx, acrylic, concrete and steel, among others. With these precepts, we guarantee perfection in the finishing and valorization of materials, creating special pieces, that translate the personality of each client.

WEFT Collection Passionate about experimenting with new materials and due to the friendship with the designer Gina Guerra, ION + GIG composition was born, as a capsule collection of luminaires made from GIG oddments, which would be discarted. With unitary and composable models, the luminaires are structed on an acrylic base and delicately enveloped with a cotton and lurex trict.
ION DROPP Following ION’s concept to multiply an initial form, the line Dropp proposes a common base shared by different pieces, like a DNA for the family.
The cylindrical base refers to the format of a “concrete body proof feature used by architects and engineers to test the properties of concrete before applying it in construction.
With such idea in mind to guide the creative process, the three heights of the concrete base led to six different pieces: three tables and three luminaires.
ION DROPP Table Lamp Concrete base, brass stem and blown glass dome.
ION DROPP Floor Lamp Designed with Caroline’s view of the urban context, the luminaires are a reinterpretation of old lampposts, and her current passion for round blown glass. In the smaller version, functionality in terms of light direction is added by an articulated arm, also an original design by Caroline. Concrete base, brass stem and blown glass dome.
ION DROPP Side Tables The family extends to the line of side tables The concrete base is maintained and balances the tensions created between the wooden top and the supporting sphere.
Supporting Sphere Available in oak wood, zebra wood or Brass.
Table Top Available in oak wood, end grain and end grain multicolor.
ION MOBILE Floor Lamp Inspired by art mobiles, this line brings a sculptural shape, which seeks balance between forms and forces. A concrete base supports the brass rod and lamps in blown glass feature spherical shaped counterweights in Brazilian stones, which can vary from marbles to quartz and granite.

DESIGNER Caroline Ficker holds a degree in Architecture and Urban Planning from Mackenzie University and in Interior Design from Panamericana School of Art and Design São Paulo. She has a specialization in Environmental Comfort and Conservation of Energy by USP, besides participating in several courses of woodwork and lighting applied to selfconstruction. Furniture design is present in her work since the beginning. For each customuer, Caroline has created an unique piece, designed and developed to be incorporated to the project. From this experience, came the idea of producing her own line of serial items, beginning with the luminaires. As one of the architect’s premises in originality and the development of special solutions for each client, she accomplished to create pieces that allowed customization, carrying in their DNA the gene of it’s owners.
