HERO4 is the highest performance line of devices GoPro has ever made and includes the HERO4 Black, HERO4 Silver and HERO camera models. HERO, the perfect entry-level GoPro, will retail for $129. The HERO4 Black features 4K video at 30 frames per second (fps), 2.7K video at 50fps and 1080p video at 120fps. Additional features include 50 percent faster Wi-Fi paired with Bluetooth that allows for enhanced GoPro app performance and improved power management. An updated user-interface also offers improved discoverability and access to key camera controls. “In the past, users have had to choose between capturing video or photos of an experience. Using HERO4 Black, users can capture 8.3 megapixel photo stills from the 4K30 video, eliminating the need to choose one or the other,” said GoPro founder and CEO Nicholas Woodman. “This is just one of the many new amazing capabilities that the HERO4 Black provides.” The HERO4 Silver features GoPro’s first ever built-in touch display. The built-in touch display will not affect the professional quality video capture, which includes 2.7K video at 30 fps, 1080p video at 60fps and 720p video at 120 fps on the HERO4 Silver. Similar to HERO4 Black, HERO4 Silver will include 50 percent faster Wi-Fi paired with Bluetooth. “Prior to the HERO4 line, our cameras did not include a touch-display convenience. SENIOR STAFF BIOGRAPHIES Nicholas Woodman, Founder and CEO Nicholas Woodman serves as the founder and CEO of GoPro. Woodman graduated from the University of California in San Diego with a bachelor’s degree in visual arts and creative writing. Post-graduation Woodman founded two startups, EmpowerAll.com and funBug. In 2002, after funBug was unable to gain traction with users and shut down, Woodman traveled around the world surfing. Woodman started GoPro in 2002 during his travels to Australia and Indonesia. Woodman used a 35-millimeter camera attached to the palm of his hand by a rubber band in an attempt to capture his surfing activities on film. After seeing amateur photographers unable to capture quality action shots of their activities, Woodman’s surfing trip became his inspiration to found GoPro. In 2004 Woodman released his first video camera, selling the product everywhere from surf shops to at-home shopping networks such as QVC. Recently, GoPro became a publicly traded company on the NASDAQ, valuing GoPro at $2.25 billion and Woodman at $1.3 billion. Zander Lurie, Senior Vice-President of Media Lurie serves as senior vice president of media for GoPro. Lurie provides strategic leadership of the creation, curation and distribution of the diverse video content GoPro receives. Lurie reports to GoPro president Tony Bates. Prior to working for GoPro, Lurie worked at Guggenheim Digital Media, where he was in charge of acquiring the online video site Hulu. Tony Bates, President Bates serves as the president of GoPro as well as a member of the GoPro board.
