Bumper spend this Christmas Pictured with Santa at Our Lady of Mercy Senior National School for the Wear Red to Work Day for the WLR Christmas Appeal in aid of St.Vincent de Paul were Megan Barry, Precious Okhira and Lauren O’Gorman. Photo: Noel Browne DESPITE the inclement weather in Waterford over the past week it certainly has not deterred Christmas shoppers. Traders in Waterford City and County report that this Christmas will see an increase in spending on previous years. Publicans also report that there is a very marked increase in clientele though festive drinkers are paying strict attention to the

no drinking and driving rule. A Garda spokesman said that there has been a slight increase in detections of drink driving over the last few weeks. He emphasised that there will be increased checkpoints throughout the city and county over the Christmas and New Year. He cautioned drivers to heed the no drinking and driving rule and make sure they have a des-

ignated driver if they are out on the town. According to Waterford Chamber CEO Gerald Hurley, “2018 is certainly ending on a note of positivity. Despite the rain it is heartening to see families enjoying the Winterval offering and walking through the streets of Waterford laden with shopping bags. Âł:H DUH FRQÂżGHQW ÂżJXUHV ZLOO

Social housing new builds way behind target SINN FĂŠin TD for Waterford David Cullinane has expressed his serious concern that social housing construction in Waterford City and County is so far behind schedule for 2018. Figures show that only 35% of the Department of Housing’s new build targets for 2018 were reached at the end of Q3 of 2018. The target for Waterford City and County for new builds was 165 and yet only 35 have been delivered this year so far. 165 yet so far only 35 have been delivered. “The other streams of delivery are a mixed bag. I welcome the number of increased

acquisitions in Waterford of 24 compared to a target of 4. “However the Department of Housing must stop including voids in the quarterly output report as they are not new additions to the social housing stock. The Department included YRLGV LQ LWV RXWSXW ÂżJXUHV today. “Out of the target of 2,000 leased properties only 476 were delivered by Q3 of 2018. news in brief Food Shortage threat despicable SINN FĂŠin MEP Liadh NĂ Riada has described a suggestion from a Tory MP that the threat of food shortages in Ireland could be used to force a change to the backstop as “despicable.â€? The Ireland South MEP was reacting to comments from Tory MP Priti Patel who suggested

the threat of food shortages in Ireland post-Brexit should have been “pressed home during negotiations and that there was still time to “go back and get a better deal. “Not only do these comments reek of desperation from but it further illustrates the absolute moral bankruptcy that is rampant in the Conservatives when it comes to Ireland

THE SUPER THIS movie is supposedly a horror movie where unfortunately nothing scary takes place. It is about a man and his two young daughters moving into an apartment complex in New York where the father has just got a job as a superintendent, basically a fancy title for a janitor. You know that something is wrong with the family as strange things start to happen in the complex soon after they move in. The elder sister is quiet and withdrawn and the younger one just a little bit odd, you put it down to the fact that their mother has recently died. The father gets on with his job and makes friends with the other supers in the building. One of them, played by Val Kilmer, is also more than a little odd and when people start dying in strange circumstances you are initially supposed to believe that he is the one to blame. But you know that isn’t right and that it has to do with the new family. The father starts a new relationship and it begins to look as if things are getting better for them. Then the younger sister starts to act in very strange ways indeed. 7KH FRQFHLW RI WKH ¿OP LV WKDW WKH FKLOG LV DQ HYLO VSLULW ZKHUH LI someone gets in her way then she will just kill them. As a talking point Brexit has been the gift that keeps on giving for a long time, and last week it stepped onto a new level. In the end she survived but only by making herself a ‘lame duck’ PM anyway, cutting her own throat by announcing that she would step down as leader before the 2022 election. You FRXOGQÂśW VFULSW VXFK VWXŕľľ Thursday saw May head back out to Europe. For what? We’re still none the wiser as to what will happen in the spring. The language around the backstop might be tinkered with a little in May’s favour but aside from that she will have to put her deal to the vote in January. Depending on that result we could be facing a Hard Brexit, an extension of the Article 50 process with possibly a fresh referendum, a general election or the UK unilaterally doing a U-turn on the whole thing and withdrawing the Brexit application. You’ll have to watch the next series to see how it all pans out.

The meaning of Christmas

N

ow that Christmas is nearly upon us most people will take some time out of their busy schedule to think about what the season really means to them. For some people it will mean nothing more than a chance to celebrate and let their hair down. To be with friends and have a good time. For others it will be something a little deeper. &KULVWPDV LV ÂżUVW DQG IRUHPRVW D UHOLJLRXV FHOHEUDWLRQ D WLPH WR remember that the Christ Child was born and all the promise, hope and joy that he brought into the world. He was born into the humblest of circumstances and soon after his life was in immediate danger and a lot of other young babies were killed ZKLOH KH DQG KLV IDPLO\ Ă€HG WKH GDQJHU Even when the best things happen no one is sure exactly what will follow and sometimes death follows swiftly on great joy. It is all part of the circle of life. But, in the main, Christmas is a time of celebration, a time to be with family and friends. It is also however a time to think of others who might not be so fortunate, whose circumstances don’t allow them to be with family or friends or even allow them to celebrate Christmas in any meaningful way. It is not for nothing that donations to charities peak at this time of year. Irish people are amongst the most giving of people and do so throughout the year but everyone knows that we must make a VSHFLDO HŕľľRUW DW WKLV WLPH RI WKH \HDU 1R PDWWHU KRZ IRUWXQDWH you may be there is always time to think of others who are not so blessed. Again, in a sense, it is part of the circle of life. There are so many things that people have to remember at this time of the year and also so many things to do that it can become somewhat overwhelming. It is such a special time of the year that there is a lot of pressure to have the ‘perfect’ Christmas. The fact that the holiday seems to be getting more material with each passing year doesn’t make things any easier. But there is no one way to have a ‘perfect’ Christmas and it certainly isn’t dependent on the amount that you spend to create your Christmas. Often it is the simpler experiences that really make Christmas special. No matter how you decide to spend your Christmas, no matter how much or how little money is spent it will be the WLPH \RX VSHQG ZLWK IDPLO\ DQG IULHQGV WKDW ZLOO GHÂżQLWHO\ stand the test of time and will be the occasions that you will look back on with most fondness. Holly “The holly and the ivy, Now both are full well grown. Of all the trees that are in the wood, The holly bears the crown.” WE are familiar with the Christmas Carol but maybe less so with the association of these plants, in particular the holly, with winter festivals and especially with Christmas. Holly, ivy and other evergreen plants such as mistletoe were used in pre-Christian times by druids to help celebrate the Winter Solstice. The holly was believed to represent masculine power and is the King of the winter months, ivy representing feminine power, is the Queen. One old tradition maintains that whichever of the two plants is brought into the house first over winter would determine whether the man or woman of the house would rule that year. But another tradition says it is unlucky to bring either into the house before Christmas Eve.

Ivy GIVEN that the holly is so verdant during the austerity of winter and appears impervious to harsh weather, disease or infestation, it is not surprising that the Ancient Romans believed holly could repel all kinds of malice such as natural disasters, dark magic and vicious animals. Druids believed holly attracted good spirits and offered protection against evil spirits, and so, often wore it in their hair during religious rituals. Now back to the association of holly and ivy with Christmas. In the carol holly (male) represents Jesus while ivy (female) represents Mary. The prickly leaves of the holly represent the crown of thorns that Jesus wore when he was crucified and the red berries represent the drops of blood that he shed. In Scandinavia holly is known as the Christ Thorn. In Germany it was believed that tying a piece of ivy to the outside of a church would protect it from lightning!

THE CHRISTMAS VOYAGE by Deirdre Purcell

FAIRYTALE OF NEW YORK RTE1, December 20, 10.15pm

BELLY OF THE WHALE ROI rating: 15 A

It is almost Christmas on the Santa Clara cruise liner, and as the ship sets sail from Barcelona for the last time, dramas big and small are to unfold. On board is Kitty Golden, beautiful ex-model and wife of New York financier Saul Abelson, some 25 years her senior. They look the picture of cool contentment, but looks can be deceiving. Dubliner Mary Dunne is on board with no less than eight members of her boisterous Irish family, intent on celebration. For Mary, though, a long-hidden past brings its own twist... And wide-eyed young novelist Roxy Smith is intent on observing all in a bid to find a story.

Fairytale of New York: The Story of a Christmas Classic takes a look at the making of the Pogues and Kirsty MacColl’s classic bittersweet Christmas love song. The documentary looks back at the making of the song in the company of singer Shane MacGowan, and other Pogues sharing their memories include Spider Stacy, Cait O’Riordan and Jem Finer. With contributions from Imelda May, Bob Geldof, Paul Simon and Christy Moore.

After breaking free from his foster home, feral teenager Joey Moody returns to Laytown, a rural Irish town just over the horizon, in a bid to reclaim his family’s caravan park and salvage his friendship with his best mate and drinking partner Lanks. Meanwhile, on a mission to find the money to pay for his sick wife’s medication. Ronald Tanner, a fractured soul, risks his meagre life savings on a get rich quick scheme that ends in abject failure and humiliation at the hands of local big shot Gits Hegarty, pushing Ronald over the edge and off the wagon.

Guitarist, singer and songwriter Liam Merriman returned from Nashville last year with Acoustic Rivers, his sixth album, under his arm. Acoustic Rivers will be launched at the gig on Thursday 27 December. A feast of fret-board frills, classy songs and stunning covers will then be unleashed in the atmospheric surroundings of Central Arts Theatre. The perfect postChristmas escape? Absolutely.

Waterford Youth Arts is proud to announce their upcoming Christmas Play - The Lost Elf. “Christmas in Waterford City is on the verge of being cancelled....an elf has gotten lost from Santa and finds himself at the mercy of humans. Will their humanity and their Christmas Magic save him and bring him back to the North Pole in time for Christmas Eve? The pressure is on and the clock is ticking to get the Elf home, however the Elf’s heart begins to break and his Christmas Magic slips away when he discovers that no one spends time with each other anymore.

This St. Stephen’s Day at Hook Lighthouse is ‘Daisy Day’ a tradition which Hook Lighthouse records of 1943 show as an old custom in the form of ‘A Penny for a Daisy’ which was carried out as large numbers of children seek out the first flower of the year and received pennies for them. According to Hook Lighthouse, “The child who found the first daisy would win the hunt but lots of children would receive pennies from the families in the area.” This St. Stephen’s Day will see the hunt take place and children receiving a chocolate penny for their efforts.

waterford-today.ie December 19, 2018

In Loving Memory Unseen and unheard but always near, So loved, so missed, so very dear 31st Anniversary & Christmas Remembrance FRANKIE & ANN MOUNTAIN

1st Anniversary & Christmas Remembrance PATRICK COUGHLAN

4th Anniversary & Birthday Remembrance ROBERT ‘BOBBY’ WHELAN

Christmas Remembrance QUINLAN & HURLEY

- Love and miss you Dad, your loving daughter Carol, Martin, Darren, Hayley, Wayne, Grandchildren Sophie and Jamie.

Acknowledgement for Rita Troy, late of Ferndale, who passed away December 1st, 2018 Rita’s husband Jimmy, her children Aidan, Keith and Celine, her daughters-in -law Martina and Kathryn, her sonin-law Brendan, her grandchildren, brothers, sisters and extended family would like to express their gratitude to all who sympathised with them in their recent bereavement. Thank you to all who visited Rita during her time in hospital, those who attended her wake at her home and those who attended her funeral. To anyone who called, sent cards and messages of support, they were all gratefully received. Thank you to the staff of I.C.U. University Hospital Cork for the care Rita received during her time there. A special mention to the volunteers at Bru Columbanus who provided an invaluable service to Rita’s family which enabled them to be with Rita during her illness. To Thompsons Funeral Directors, for your organisation at a difficult time, to Fr Chestnutt for a lovely funeral mass and Donna Roche for the beautiful singing, our thanks. As it is impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of our deep gratitude. Rita’s Months Mind Mass will be held on Saturday, 5th Jan at 18:30 in the Sacred Heart Church, The Folly.

Birthday Remembrance PATSY BYRNE

In loving memory of our Dad Frankie Mountain, late of 11 Emmet Place, who died on the 25th December 1987. Christmas Remembrance for our Mam, Ann Mountain, late of 11 Emmet Place who died on the 17th January 2003. R.I.P. Masses offered. I seldom ask for miracles, But today just one will do, It’s to leave the front door open, And see my Dad walk through, I would put my arms around him, And kiss his smiling face, Because he was one in a million, And can never be replaced, His memory is special as was his name, Without him to love life isn’t the same, Of all the blessings in life, However great or small, To have you as my Dad, Was the greatest gift of all. -Happy Christmas Dad, love always your daughter Mandy and son in law Wayne xxx Dad as long as I live, I will always be glad, For a wonderful Dad, I was lucky to have, A beautiful nature, a heart of gold, Your loss to me can never be told, I cannot forget you, I won’t even try, I’ll just miss you more as time goes by. -Love always your son Dermot and Linda xxx Oh angels take this message, To our Grandad up above, Tell him that we miss him, And give him all our love. -Love always your grandchildren Craig & Lauren xxx Every day is a new one Dad, But memories stay the same, We laugh about the good times, But in my heart there’s still such pain, You’ll never be forgotten Dad, You’ll never be alone, Because you and Mammy are together now,

Birthday Remembrance of a dear friend Patsy Byrne, late of Comeragh Park, Lismore Heights and Connolly Place, whose birthday occurs on the 21st December. Mass offered. Patsy, You were a friend who was so special, And who was loved so very much, You brought so much happiness, To the lives you touched, You were always kind and caring, And so understanding too, If help was ever needed Patsy, It came freely from you. - Never forgotten by your friend Peggy and Megan MIRACULOUS PRAYER Dear Heart of Jesus, in the past I have asked for many favours, this time I ask for this one special favour (mention favour). Take it Dear Jesus and place it within Your own broken heart, where Your Father sees it. Then in His merciful eyes it will become Your favour and not mine. Say this prayer for 3 days. Promise publication and favour will be granted. Never known to fail. D.P.

In a different place called home. -Love always your daughter Ann-Marie and son in law Michael xxx We never got to meet you Grandad, You were gone before we came, My Mam always tells me, That’s such a terrible shame, We would have shared some fun times, If God had let you stay, But your short life ended suddenly, And you had to go away. -Love from your grandchildren Niamh and Grace xxx Beautiful thoughts of a Grandad so dear, Cherished forever with love sincere, Dear is his memory, Sweet is his name, Close to my heart he will always remain. -Love from your grand daughter Emma xxx We think of you always, We talk about you still, You haven’t been forgotten, You know you never will, Will those who think of Frankie today, A little prayer to Jesus say. -Love always Myra, Noelie, Michael, Gerard and all the family xxx “To our Mam” We would love to wish you a Happy Christmas, In the way we used to do, Nobody in the whole wide world, Could ever be like you. We’re thinking of you always, Our memories will never fade, We treasure all the little things, And all the love you gave, But here it is, another Christmas, And presents we can’t buy, Just a parcel full of teardrops, We send up to the sky. -Merry Christmas Mam, thinking of you always, love from Mandy, Dermot, Ann-Marie and all the family xxxxx

In loving memory of Patrick Coughlan, late of Morrissons Avenue, whose 1st Anniversary occurs on December 2018. Anniversary mass offered for Paddy in the Holy Family Church, Luke Waddign street, Waterford on Saturday 22nd December at 6:15pm. When I see your picture Paddy, You smile to me and say, We’ll meet again someday - May, So I go to where you rest, It’s where I feel most near, I whisper a little prayer to you, And say Paddy I am here. - From your loving wife May, Forever in my heart. No more will I hear you call my name, Or hear you say those old refrains, And when old times I do recall, That’s when i miss you most of all. memories I keep one by one, Things you have said, songs you have sung, They bring back a smile, often a tear, And always a wish that I still had you here.

Not a day goes by Dad, that I don’t think of you, You are forever on my mind, Not all of you departed when you left earth behind, In my eart theres a special place, That only you can hold, Filled with every memory, more priceless than gold. I know you can still hear me Dad, So please know this is true, That everything I am today, it’s all because of you. - From your loving son Paul, Valarie, Ryan and Neeva, love you forever.

We cannot send a birthday card, Or even hold your hand, But one look up to Heaven, And we know you’ll understand, And now it’s your birthday, It’s up to God above, To give you all our wishes, But most of all our love. Happy Birthday. - With love from your wife Rose, son Michael, daughter Kathryn, son-in-law Donal & grandson Ryan

A shadow walks beside me, forever by my side, Always there to guide me, ever since you died, No matter how my life may change, No matter what I do, There’s a place within my heart Dad, That is forever kept for you. - From your loving son John, Ann, Steven, Gary, Lauren and Ryan. Love you always.

Softly the leaves of memories fall, Gently we bend to gather them all, Unseen, unheard yet always near, Still missed, still loved, still very dear. - Love always, your wife Rose

Gone is the face so loving and kind, beautiful are the memories grandad you left behind, Gone is the heart so caring and true, There is never a day grandad we don’t think of you. - From your loving grand daughter Michelle and David. Forver in our thoughts.

Along the road of suffering, You found a little lane, That took you up to Heaven, And ended all your pain, You may be out of sight, We may be worlds apart, But you are always in my prayers, And forever in our hearts. - Love always from your son Michael, daughter Kathryn, and Donal

For those who think of them today, A special prayer to Jesus say. - Loved and missed so much. From your loving family, Mam, Carol, John, Paul, Michelle and families xxxxx.

No longer in our lives to share, But in our hearts you are always there, A silent thought, a quiet prayer, For a special Grandad in God’s care. - Always loved and missed, your grandson Ryan

In loving memory of Jack Cantwell (Seán) late of 29A Bishopsgrove, Ferrybank, Waterford, who died on 24th December 2008.

We cannot bring the old days back, When we were all together, But those we love don’t go away, They live with us forever, The gates of heaven opened wide, The angels lined up side by side, A special guest was on her way, the day God called our mother home. -Sadly missed by your loving daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren and great grandchildren and great great grandchildren

Your life was love and labour, Your love for your family true, You did your best for all of us, We will always remember you. But I want you to know, That though you’re out of sight, You’ll always be in my heart, I want you to know that, I’ll always cherish you, I’ll always love you, And always remember you. - From your daughter Helen I held your hand that day, I knew we soon would part, I watched you slowly slip away But you will never leave my heart, Time may hide the sadness Like a smile can hide a tear, But memories last forever For a man I loved so dear, It broke my heart to lose you, You did not go alone, For a part of me went with you The day God called y ou home. - From your daughter Bernie The next time we’ll meet Mam, You’ll be at Heaven’s door, In God’s love you reside And that I know is best, You suffered more than you deserved, It was time for you to rest, The memories Mam we treasured, Most of them we spent together, I miss you more with each passing day, I love you more than ever. - From Caroline and Maurice. Fold her O Jesus in Thine arms And let her henceforth be A messenger of love between Our human hearts and Thee. You can only have one mother, Patient, kind and true, No other friend in all the world Will be the same to you. When other friends forsake you, To mother you will return For all her loving kindness, She asks nothing in return, As we look upon her picture, Sweet memories we recall, Of a face so full of sunshine And a smile for one and all. Sweet Jesus take this message, To our dear mother up above, Tell her how we miss her, And give her all our love. - From your daughter Breda, grand daughter Edelle and grandson John-Paul The hands of time move swiftly on, Clocking the length that you’ve been gone, The minutes and hours of each day, That come and go since you passed away, But you can’t erase the pain we share, When we need you, but you’re not there, They can’t dry up the tears we cry, I know you’re gone but I question why, I miss your warmth, your smile and laugh, Mum please guide us on God’s chosen path, When your smiling face will heal the pain, So on this your anniversary day, We place our flowers on the place you lay, Will those who knew Mum say a special prayer, That God will protect us all with loving care.. - From her loving daughter Liz & Bas

13th Anniversary MARY CUNNINGHAM

Maurice was a loveable character. It’s with great sadness that we record the death of Maurice Shanahan of Silverwood Ferrybank and late of Arbour Road Lisduggan, whose untimely death occurred on Thursday, November 8. Maurice was born on October 9 1976 and raised on Arbour Road in Lisduggan, a place he would call home for the formative years of his life. He went to school in St Pauls primary and secondary where he made a lot of the friends that he would carry with him through life. Maurice was the youngest sibling of nine and was the life and soul of the house. He was larger than life in many ways. He adored his mother Eily and Father Bob, who passed away when Maurice was very young. As he got older he grew into his father in looks and personality, as he loved life so much, just as his Father did. He had five adoring sisters who minded him like a baby and who he also idolised in return. In later years, as the siblings started to leave the nest, Maurice and his youngest sister Eileen formed a special bond. He would look out for Eileen in many ways and Eileen would look out for Maurice also. He also had three older brothers who were like father figures to him growing up; this made him the man he turned out to be. Maurice met his loving partner Edel in March 2010 and from there they built a life together in Silverwood, Ferrybank. Maurice blended in straight away with the Walshes and all of Edel’s friends became his friends and all of Maurice’s friends became her friends. Maurice’s and Edel’s world became complete on Easter Sunday 2011 when Mia arrived. He took to fatherhood naturally and loved entertaining all the kids with his legendary pool parties. Mia and Edel held a special place in his heart and he was a fantastic Father and partner. Maurice worked as soon as he finished school where he landed a job with sporthouse (twenty odd years later he still transported his cans out to the lower street of Kilmacow in the sporthouse bag) from there he went on to work in ABB for thirteen years where he made lifelong friends, Maurice would let it be known that he was the num-

2nd Anniversary BERNARD MANNING

ber one golfer in the ABB golf society and the best pool player on any social nights out. He started work in Bausch and Lomb where his work colleagues remarked that he inspired everyone around him with his passion and excitement about everything. He gave everything he had to help and understand others, he was selfless in all his actions and his demeanour was always so caring about those around him. We will always remember his velvety voice singing everyday as he passed everyone’s work station. Maurice always had friends rather than workmates. Maurice had so many passions in life such as holidays and music. He loved nothing more than heading away with his family to enjoy the sun and was a huge fan of Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles and of course Elton John. He was also a passionate Liverpool fan and You’ll Never Walk Alone was played when he said his last goodbye. Maurice was a quality soccer player and plied his trade with Southend for many years. In fact, he was the only Southend man to win the first division title as a player and as a player manager, a tale he would tell anyone who was willing to listen. His sporting prowess didn’t end there however, as he was a keen golfer and a member of Waterford golf club and his proudest moment was when he got the elusive hole in one in West Waterford Golf Club. Maurice’s friends say they were lucky to grow up in Lisduggan where the friends they made as kids remain very close friends today, twice a year we had a Lisduggan jolly boys outing that everyone made a special effort to attend, Shan being Shan never wanted the hassle of organising the outings but was more than happy to dictate where and when we were going. If the day was a success Shan took the credit but someone else had to take the fall if the day was a flop. Good friends are like stars we don’t always see them but you know there always there. Maurice was one of life’s good guys and for all who knew and loved him of whom there were many, his death leaves a deep wound that will never heal. Such a kind heart and was always there with you when you needed him most. He will be greatly missed by his loving partner Edel and his adoring daughter Mia and all the Walsh family , his mother Eily brothers Eddie , Bob, Denis, sisters Maggie, Julie , Eileen , Ann and Eleanor, brothers in law , sisters in law , uncles , Aunts, nieces , nephews, Family, neighbours and friends.

NOVENA TO THE SACRED HEART Dear Heart of Jesus, in the past I have asked for many favours, this time I ask for this one special favour (mention favour). Take it Dear Jesus and place it within Your own broken heart, where Your Father sees it. Then in His merciful eyes it will become Your favour and not mine. Say this prayer for 3 days. Promise publication and favour will be granted. Never known to fail. O.W.

Birthday and Christmas Remembrance of my dear husband Larry, whose birthday occurs on the 19th of December and Christmas Remembrance of a dear son Paul. I wish you were here today even for just a little while, So I could say Happy Birthday Larry and see your beautiful smile, The only gifts today will be the gifts you left behind, The laughter, joy and happiness, precious memories, the best kind, Today I’ll do my very best to try and find a happy place, Struggling to hide my heavy heart and the tears on my face, I’ll sit quietly and look at your picture thinking of you with love, Hoping you’re doing ok in Heaven up above, May the angels hold you close and sing you a happy song, And I’ll be sending wishes to you today and all year long. There is a bridge of memories from here to Heaven above, It keeps us very close to you, it’s called the bridge of love, If memories bring us closer, then we are never far apart, God has you in His keeping, we have you in our hearts with love. Our loving thoughts are with you Larry, as life goes on its way, We will always think about you, with love on this sad day, To us you were someone special, we thought the world of you, We have some lovely memories, but we wish we still had you. takes a part of you, The photographs we treasure, are all we have to touch, Of a Dad I loved with all my heart, and miss so very much, Next time I see you Dad, will be at Heaven’s door, And when I see you standing there, I won’t cry anymore, I will put my arms around you, and kiss your smiling face, Then the pieces of my broken heart, will fall back into place.

15th Anniversary & Christmas Remembrance PAUL O’SULLIVAN

- From your son Raymond & Jennifer

Long is the road to yesterday, that leads us back to you, And memories of us together and happy times we knew, We shared so much together, laughter, joy & tears, For us who thought so much of you, they were our happiest years Nothing can replace you, Dad, nothing ever will, In life we loved you dearly, in death we love you still, The precious year won’t come again, when we were all together, But the love & joy you gave to us, will stay with us forever. - From your daughter Madeleine & son-in-law Tony

God called your name so softly, that only you could hear, And no-one heard the footsteps, of angels drawing near, It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone, For part of us went with you, the day God called you home, You’re always close beside us, in everything you do, You were our greatest treasure, God’s gift to us was you.
