The Pearl – A Mother's Love

A pearl is made from an irritant. The oyster produces a film that covers and surrounds the irritant to neutralize it. As the oyster continues this process to soothe itself, the pearl grows. God’s love is also a soothing ointment for us. He surrounds us with His love and protection to heal our hurts, wounds, and irritations. Through this process, we become the perfection of God’s love - shining brilliantly and reflecting His love and glory. Just like the pearl.

Just as our Heavenly Father loves us, we as mothers want to neutralize our children’s hurts. We do this through the combined love of God and our nurturing motherly love. Because we have been given the Father’s unconditional love, we are able to pass this love on. We are producing a string of pearls for the Kingdom and the next generation.

Jeremiah 31:3 (NIV)

“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.”
